tbh metallicize is pretty useless in higher Ascenion runs. You want a lot of frontload damage in the hallway fights and the card slows you down.

TL;DR: Run Strength 7/10, Tactics 8/10, Strategy 4/10. One trick decks get punished extremely hard in Slay the Spire, and NL's deck pretty much relied solely on Demon Form.
    > NL made some good early plays with Incense Burner, although he forgot about it as the run went on.
    > Statuses have been wrecking NL so far - that one 2 burn Limit Break Demon Form turn hurt.
    > Accentuating strengths is less important than mitigating weaknesses. Picking something like a Hemokinesis would help to get in some early burst damage in the event that Demon Form couldn't be played.
    > On a more meta note, NL needs to reread basically every enemy, since almost all of them got changed in Ascension 17.
    Act 1:
    - He actually looked at the map!
    - Disarm is super good and destroys the Guardian.
    - Anger isn't a build around card unless you can snag a Unceasing Top. I take it just to have the 0 cost 6 damage.
    - Evolve's bigger utility is to counter what the enemy throws at you. Still, though, Babby Shockwave is a good pickup.
    - Good thinking on the Incense Burner stalling. That'll take you a long way, Egg.
    - Still don't think 5 slime is thaaaat scary. Taking damage on regular fights happens.
    - Bash upgrade. It must be the Christmas season after all.
    - 25-30 is a good number of cards.
    - I definitely wouldn't have bought the third Shrug. Tiny House is pretty good, since it also reduces the odds of fighting on ? marks. Removing a Defend is the smart play though.
    - By playing Thunderclap instead of Bash, NL gives up like 40 gold. Is he actually just ignoring Bash?
    - Demon Form is a little better than Barricade for this deck mostly because he completely lacks any way to leverage that block into damage. 4 energy is necessary in a Demon Form deck.
    Act 2:
    - Pummel also is extremely good into Byrds, since it instantly knocks them down even on Asc 18.
    - NL has no idea that Byrds have 4 flight, huh...
    - Havoc+ is really good and NL should have taken that for sure. Just a chance at 0 cost Demon Form is very solid.
    - I would have picked up a Metallicize there to further smoothen out the blocks, but I think NL absolutely doesn't want a Spot.
    - He's focusing a little too much on this Demon Form, I think. I would rather look at upfront burst in his card takes. Also, Automaton is a perfect opportunity to time Incense Burner with.
    - I wouldn't complain at all about the Seeing Red here. NL's limiting reagent is Energy, not cards.
    - Limit Break here is too greedy I think - it only works after Demon Form is out and by that point the fight is essentially won. I would skip all of those rare cards, except for maybe Juggernaut? Also, if he wants to run this deck he needs Dome, since he has so many cantrips and also needs Demon Form out there.
    Act 3:
    - 5 energy makes that Demon Form much less painful. Also, yeah, Orb Walkers gain 5 strength a turn...
    - Some absolutely wild buys in that shop. Bandage up is just exhaustible Deflect at this point, since NL's taking more than 6 damage a fight, and discarding the Dex for the Blood Potion was odd as well. I think there I would have gone with Corruption and Armaments, and seen where that would ahve gotten me (Corruption making it much, much easier to play Demon Form in regular fights)
    - At this point, I think you just windmill slam the Demon Form because otherwise the deck just gets chipped down.

@UCcqzoAuGYL-P0Aw_A5AAslA The issue with Barricade in this deck is that he has no way of converting that into a win. NL isn't generating explosive amounts of block a turn which could lead to Entrench snowballing or Body Slam kills, but rather just small, consistent 10-15 block. As such, the amount of block NL's likely to save is fairly minimal. And then the second issue is that he doesn't even have Entrench or Body Slam - in order for the Barricade to be useful, he'd have to take it and then find a Body Slam or Entrench without dying (and even then would likely need many more utility cards to get it to work, and some big block like an Impervious or Power Through to kickstart the process, and an upgrade onto the Barricade to make it more reliable...) As a stand-alone build around card, typically Barricade isn't that good.
Demon Form, however, provides consistent value each turn to eventually get to a point where even basic Strikes will kill the enemy in short order, and all it asks is that you can play the card and then block while it ramps up. NL's deck is actually very well suited for this as of Act 1, what with multiple Shrug It Offs and large amounts of Weak (even AoE Weak). The issue was when he didn't take the fifth energy, making the Demon Form turn cost 10-15 rather than 5-10 at best. Demon Form is by no means an aggressive card - it costs 3 energy and does nothing the turn you play it, meaning it's actually the ultimate scaling card. Angers do fit in to a Demon Form deck, but because they provide immediate, cheap presence, not because the deck is offensive.
Lastly, you have to take the card before you see the relic. Otherwise, Snecko would be even more busted.

    @RyeBread271 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

With Demon Form, you need sustainable defense to allow yourself to scale your strength, and that’s what your deck didn’t have. Especially in ascension 18, you can’t rush down enemies unless you have an extremely fast-scaling strength build with a fast set-up. Passing up on Spot Weakness definitely slowed your deck down, and a second Limit Break would have been good if you had a way of ensuring strength gain by the time you draw it, like Inflame or even Flex. The vulnerability pickups were smart, but overall you didn’t have enough block compared to your offense to make the deck sustainable. This was probably a 6/10 run.
P.S. Birds need 4 attacks before they fall to the ground in Ascension 17-20, it’s their “more challenging movesets and abilities”

Hey NL. Some stuff you might want to consider (no link with the video, just giving you some leads).
Warcry+havoc draw and play big big powers for one or even 0, even if you already have them in your hand, complete with headbutts for discarded cards
Evolve doesn't just synergise with wild strike, it also mitigates the huge amount of status sentries, slavers and slimes can put in your deck
On that note in high ascension a good exhaust engine can be very strong
Clockwork souvenir is as good as one core surge when you want to play hyper beam or biased cognition.
You're routinely sleeping on gold relics, when every time you drop the courrier is a huge opportunity. With the new membership card there is abuse potential.
Black blood is only twice as good as blood vial.
Card duplication via events or the mirror relic is very good with sac dagger and genetic algorithm.
