Do the math yourself on how much damage that is in just 3 turns and essentially 1st floor boss could never stay in attack mode. 3. Fights the Gremlin Knob and uses both potions to kill it, only to use his attack potion card before the Strength Potion and leaves the Knob with 2HP and loses 6 HP for absolutely no reason. 4. Gets Ice Cream, then leaves Concentrate that could be played at the end of EVERY TURN to store extra energy even if you have nothing to discard. But the biggest mistake? I love how he tried to retain two cards before upgrading but then started retaining only 1 immediately after upgrading xD I just don't know what's going on up in that bald dome.
Well Laid Plans+: At the end of your turn, retain 1 card. TL;DR: Strategy 4/10, Tactics 2/10. NL gets given a lot of disparate tools this run, and as NL is wont to do, looks for some simple linear "win condition". This run isn't a world killer by any means, but I think a very very strong deck could be made here. >Like the emphasis on early damage. Still, though, mechanics need to be shored up if you're going to play as aggressive as you optimally should - that 6 free damage on Nob will make or break runs in the future. > You can't play to not lose in high Ascension. Taking safe paths will typically just grind you down because of the lower overall power you'll find yourself in around the end of act 2. White Beast Statue is IMO almost untakeable Act 1 because of this. > Decks don't need to be singularly streamlined around one thing. The best decks aren't just good at setting up one thing but can respond to many different problems effectively. > You have to proactively rather than reactively use potions. Anticipate what tough fights you're likely to face (in this case, bosses) and boost your ability to deal with those by holding specific potions. NL literally just threw the Dex Potion because he saw Centurion + Mystic and went "These guys are annoying". They are, yes, but the boss will be far more annoying. Act 1: - Catalyst and Well Laid Plans synergize very well together. The catalyst won't do much unless NL and find some Deadly Poisons or Flasks, but it'll do wonders against the boss. - I'd go Riddle just for offensive presence. Piercing Wail is quite good against the Guardian, though. - Sneaky IMO is unreliable, especially when NL already has something he'd like to hold in Catalyst. 10 damage for 2 is... not impressive. - Dash and Slice are both good early pickups. - Well Laid Plans is a very bad upgrade. I've said it before, but doubling effectiveness almost never translates to doubled value. Especially if NL doesn't actually hold the second card. - Skewer is quite good early on, I think, but he risks skewing too far offensively against the Guardian. - Definitely would have taken the Deadly Poison - even 12 Poison is a good chunk, NL has Well Laid Plans, and it does extremely well against the Guardian. - Some really bad order on the Nob fight. Like, incredibly bad order. If you're blowing two potions that counter an Elite you'd better get out with a perfect, but NL takes the wrong attack and uses the attack before the steroid potion. - Concentrate with Ice Cream is incredible. - NL, read the Well Laid Plans text. - If NL had invested in the Catalyst at all, Burst would be a no-brainer. As is, though, Corpse Explosion is the clear frontrunner since NL has decent single target damage. Also, call me crazy, but I think Snecko Eye is the best choice in here - just pick up Predators, Bullet Times, Backflips, Wraith Forms... I just think that White Beast Statue will cause NL to guaranteed bleed out as compared to Snecko Eye which could kill NL in 3 fights but could also carry him all the way to the boss with good play. Plus, his potion usage is pretty bad. Act 2: - NL, remove the Catalyst if you're just never gonna use it. - This deck is begging for a Skewer now... Ice Cream and Necronomicon. - Egg misses the Corpse Explosion lethal - just use Sneaky Strike on the rightmost Byrd, dealing 10 damage and getting it into range for the 26 damage explosion. - Corpse Explosion is a questionable upgrade - Leg Sweep, Terror, or any of the 2 cost attacks would be better. - That artifact thing is a peak tilt play, ngl. He just was talking about it... - The issue with Bites is that with NL's lackluster at best defenses, there are no easy enemies. - Using a Dex Potion on Centurion Mystic rather than saving it for the Champ with a slot open seems foolish. - Play Catalyst to exhaust it! Injury is worse than Slimed. - Outmaneuver is fairly good with Ice Cream, but it still makes you too vulnerable on the block end. NL is running with 2 curses as it is. Expertise... doesn't do a lot when he's so energy starved. - Win Condition is a flawed line of reasoning. The better question is, "Do you have any chance in hell of beating The Champ?" I think the damage from double Catalyst might be necessary to have any chance here.
"Egg misses the Corpse Explosion lethal - just use Sneaky Strike on the rightmost Byrd, dealing 10 damage and getting it into range for the 26 damage explosion" But its flying right? So half damage?
