Luffy: "This is how rubber hunted in ancient times!"
Kaido: "That makes no sense."
Luffy: "Your face makes no sense."
King: I see what you did there...
Kaido: My face makes no sense because you punched a hole through it
Luffy: ahahahaha, what a story Kaido.
Kaido: .......
Luffy: Anyway. Hows your sex life?
@@Greendalewitch
As if Luffy knows what sex is.
@@Greendalewitch Oh hi marco
@@qb4428 Kaido: "Thats none of your business"
Luffy: "Well shall we fight then. The idea of sex, let alone your sex life is disgusting, and I would rather fight"
Kaido: "ohohoho straw hat. Dont like it?"
Luffy: "No. Sex is where two people share meat right? I dont want to do that. I want all the meat to myself"
Kaido: ....
Luffy: How dare you have sex with your crew and not the country of wano? If you are going to have sex, at least share your meat with everyone"
Kaido: Please stop.
Is this better?
I think Raizo really displayed that seeing Oden's castle on fire traumatized him. You can see in all the fights he has been that he has prepared himself against fire attacks. His big moment against Kaido was sealing off Kaido's fire breath and returning it to him, his fight against Fukurokuju was a literal endurance test in the midst of an inferno, and this final countermeasure with the water he had stored was specifically to save people from a place being burnt to the ground. Taking that into mind, I don't see his plan to put the fire out as a plot convenience.
Also during the Hour of Legend, when Oden is holding all of his retainers over the boiling oil, Raizo was the only one who complained about the heat.
Also, it's a missed opportunity for character development if none of the scabbards even try to think of countermeasures against problems they had before.
@@Martin-yh7vi I think they did. Kinemon learned how to cut fire at the very least.
Such good character development.
@@willr563 Damn I never really thought of that
Love how Oda brilliantly used Zunesha to confirmed that Luffy is still Luffy, and that he is not a incarnation of Joyboy. He truly is the person that Roger and Joyboy were waiting for and the one who will bring dawn to the world.
Narutards in the mud😰
@@hhhfdsfs U a narutard?

*Rai* - Lightning
*Zo* - Possession
*Raizo* means, holding lightning!
Another great pun by GODA!
Fun fact: The Japanese language was invented by an ancient trickster spirit (specifically a kitsune) to maximize the number of potential puns. I know this is true because there is no other logical explanation for its writing system.
Holy jesus kkk this is like chapter's names 479 and 1044... compare the names and what happens in the chapter.. so blow your mind hahaha
@@rafaelmedeiros7847 every 1046 chapters so far has 3-5 number puns each! There's not even a single OP chapter with no number pun.
It's hard to write a great story and also make sure each thing happen in each episode according to pun.
Look at the chapter number when Gear 2 happened and reverse the number. You'll get Gear 4 chapter.
Every 1046 chapter so far has multiple puns! Goda!

Raizo's name is written with [Rai] in Kanji and [zo]+[u] in two Hiragana letters.
Another wordplay used in this champter was that Zou, the living island (written with the same two letters but in Katakana), is the place where Raizou's inspiration to a solution for his traumatic experience. Oh and look the way those stream of waters go from the upper floor to next under, it went zig zag like how a ⚡would naturally goes.
"I will do once a month"
"Ok I'll do once a week this month"
"I don't know if I will keep doing week to week"
One Piece slowly turning Murphy into a weekly reviewer is really interesting to witness
At an arcs end, it's quite interesting for sure. But I will say that once every break/oda break so 4-5 chapters usually, would totally fit aswell. Especially during setup that'd make sense i'd say.
Idk if she could actually wait for the chapters to pile up. Who knows what reveals we'll get post-wano.
I don't want this to mess up her schedules though. Though One Piece gave her channel a huge boost probably, it wasn't the One Piece audience that took her to where she is now and she owes it to them more than to us.
Well these are once in a lifetime reveals. You're missing out if you're a one piece TH-camr not talking about it, ya know?
The character arc
Merphy: I won't do chapter by chapter review
Oda: we'll see about that
*Best 3 chapters of the whole epic right after that comment*
Zunishas monologue pretty much confirms that Luffy and Joyboy are completely different people. Oda even made Luffy say his famous line after that. So we can finally lay those fears to rest that Luffy is suddenly someone else.
Why do you have fears that luffy is someone else. Luffy is joy boy. You guys are trying so hard to deny that. He's even the sun god nika now and he has a special devil fruit that wasn't so special before. ALL your fears confirmed.
@@ave383 Have you read my comment? Or even the latest chapter? As I said it was CONFIRMED that Luffy is not Joyboy. And he is not the sun god. Or do you also think that Sengoku is a literal buddha? lol At this point in time all Luffy got is a power up and nothing more. The only one in denial here is you. You thought Oda messed up Luffy as a character and were celebrating the fact that you could finally say that One Piece is ruined. But nope, Oda proved your allegations wrong and your agenda is falling apart again. Just take a look around you. Nobody agrees with your takes even in the slightest. You haters have lost and no matter how hard you try you will never stop this hype train! :)
@@ave383 he's not tho. Having the same fruit, even inheriting someone's will doesn't make you that person. Sabo is proof of this. He didn't suddenly become Ace when he ate his fruit, even tho a small part of Ace is clearly still in that fruit just like a small part of Joy Boy is in Luffy's fruit.
This chapter was really fun to read. I love that Zunesha is just vibing to Luffys heartbeat lol.
I believe the whole "Luffy is different, or Oda is changing the story." Comes from people who have read stories where the protagonist is changed by the world"environment/circumstances." A lot of week to week casual readers have expectations of Luffy changing but this whole section should remind people Luffy is Luffy.
Exactly. The world isn't happening to luffy. Luffy is happening to the world
I don't think "changing because of environment/circumstances" is the problem. Actually, changing because of that makes a lot of sense. I think the problem would be "changing because he was destined to change (or be as he is)", which wouldn't be a "change" because the word destiny (and that would be the main problem, in my opinion) implies that there is no chances for change, because everything is pre-arranged.
I think this chapter is leading us afar from destiny, at least from Luffy being the incarnation of JoyBoy. It seems to me that Luffy is JoyBoy because JoyBoy is more like a "rol" or type of person which, apparently, was very relevant in the happenings of the void century.
Luffy is not a character whom changes because of his environment or experiences. He is a character whom brings change to those things.
He was a complete character from the beginning.
The only thing I will say about Luffy undergoing changes is that he has become a better captain and leader and thats enough for me.
@@emeldy2687 I mean it’s more realistic then most character development IMO- I mean most of us are pretty much exactly the same as we were at 16 just more mature and we look older 🤷🏼♀️
@@PortgasDASCE i think i changed from my immature state when i was 16 and i think i can change a lot more for better or worse
Kaido's "Who are you?" question was really everybody's question. Luffy's response was perfect. Thought Zunisha was gonna put out the fire directly but having Raizo do it for a reason that made perfect narrative sense was even better conclusion.
I love how Luffy just turned straight out into Zeus. Him holding that lighting is an amazing panel.
I don't think he can now generate and throw lightning tho.. I think he just legit grabbed it outa the air lol.
Mythical Blue Dragon grabs clouds,
Mythical Rubberman-god grabs lightning,
Mythical Flame-birdman grabs dinosaurs,
Mythical Man-Buddha grabs rice cracker,
And Robin grabs Franky's balls.

Gotta love how this chapter adds even *more* importance to Zou and the Minks sacrificing themselves to keep Raizo safe.
I tell you, once we finally get Zunesha's backstory with the original Joyboy in the Void Century that whole arc is gonna hit different. 🤩
There's been a constant theme of "Identity" throughout this arc with Yamato taking up Oden's identity, Us as an audience questioning luffy's identity, Momo at first not being able to live up to his father's legacy which is turn was him not accepting his own identity and all the extra bits with characters having multiple identities like denjiro or Kaido having multiple phases which is akin to different identities. This has been on my mind for the entirety of this arc I haven't seen a lot of people talk about it but I'm really looking forward to where this goes because it's so intentional especially with how Oda is making us somewhat contemplate on luffy's identity as well. Is he luffy? or joyboy? or nikka? Is he a god meant to liberate the world? or a just kid who will bring freedom to all with his boundless willpower and imagination. There's no right answer but I'm sure there's a point oda is trying to make that'll eventually all come together
Gonna bring up identity and not say anything about Zoros lineage, Sanji questioning what sort of person he should be, Robin accepting her role as a demon, or Law likely learning more about his fate and the will of D?
I know this is an old post but I want to add to it because reading this made so much sense to me
There's also Kiku, who is an undeniable trans woman, which is very very tied to identity, and kanjuro who doesn't have an identity of his own(not really at least) until orochi gives him one
My favorite Luffy quote is from back at Arlong Park when he said: "I know I can't live without help from a lot of people."
Knowing he still relies on his crew even after almost a thousand chapters of misfortunes, betrayal, loss, and forgiveness, puts the biggest smile on my face.
The thing I find most interesting about Wano is that it feels like the scabbards are the main characters until recently. It's their story. Luffy and the Strawhats were here to step up when the scabbards weren't enough. But just like so many times before, Luffy only helps the people that want help, that admit they can't do it alone. So many big moments in Wano feel weird to others I think because the perspective is totally different than previous arcs and its lasted so long. All the stakes, the low points, the struggle is associated with the scabbards. Usually they would be associated with the Strawhats.
Kaido's lines have been the best lines in the whole story so far. Remember when he also said that he is the only one who can change the world. He was even looking joyful when he was young! But for some reason he became a depressed tyrant who only wants suicide. Cant wait to see what Oda is planning for this epic villain.
"For some reason"... I can't wait for that flashback. I think we might get something more of Rocks pirate crew, maybe even we get to know Xebec.
o
I was kinda wondering why Oda dragged the Ninja v Ninja battle so long with that standoff. Now it is clear it was done to give a legitimate reason for why Raiso didn't use the scroll until the last moment.
Still waiting on Kaido's "This is how dragons hunted in ancient times" moment

The very first time we met Kaido, we learned that he wanted to create "The biggest war the world has ever seen". Whitebeard said something pretty similar when he died. He said that when One Piece was found, the person who came back from Laugh Tale carrying the full weight of what was found there would cause the biggest war ever.
I think Kaido really DID want to be Joyboy. More than that though, he just wanted Joyboy to exist at all. If Joyboy wasn't going to appear, Kaido would try to fill those shoes himself. Obviously though, he went about it the wrong way, in a way that hurt a lot of people, and became kind of antithetical to Joyboy. That's why he's so happy to see Luffy right now.
Just wanted to add that he specifically went about it in a way where people were forced to smile and laugh against their will (ok, technically that happening to the citizens was due to Orochi, but Kaido still made a bunch of people eat smile fruits as well).
@@462n It's funny, for years everyone just thought the guy really liked Zoans and SMILE fruits were the only way to make an army of them. Now that we have even the slightest understanding of Joyboy and Kaido's desire to be Joyboy, it all makes SO much more sense thematically. He brought smiles to peoples faces but they were always forced fake ones, he really never could be Joyboy.
I'm wondering if part of the "myth" of Joyboy is that he'll "die" and then come back to life (like Luffy in this arc) and that's why Kaido kept trying to kill himself.
Man, I’ve seen so much complainers about Raizo where they really downplayed his moment. But what Merphy did put it in perspective. The people of Zou helped protected him no matter what the cost. And now Raizo is borrowing an element from Zou to help protect everyone else as it did from him. Damn… what an amazing callback and an amazing way to not only give Raizo a moment, but Jimbei too. I literally thought Jimbei was going to swim through the water to help save his crewmates lol. I mean… still can happen? Nice call back to Enenis Lobby but I don’t bet on it haha
One thing i love about merphy's videos is the caption 🤣 , whoever writes the caption is having their own fun 🤣🤣🤣
Looking at Kaido's comment on awakening, I think that if Luffy hadn't grown so much over the timeskip (both phisically and mentally) it would have produced an incomplete result , and he'd either not be strong enough to awaken it in the first place or the will of the fruit would have truly taken over his mind, similar to the Jailer Beasts in Impel Down or Chopper's early Monster point.
oh cool, I hadn't thought about that. That would actually add more context to monster point in that, the first time, Choppers mind/will wasn't strong enough to keep up with it and the intense physical demands of it and that shows specifically that during the time skip he really grew in both those areas
Actually i'd say Chopper still isn't exactly up to par on the "body" side of things, since he still needs a rumble ball to use it, but all in all it tracks.
@@steelram4098 Yeah, that's a good point
When it was revealed that Kaido thought of himself as Joyboy, i first thought of what Shanks told Kaido at Marineford that made him turn around.
I think Shanks told him that the future Joyboy is in that war, and if he went there and killed him he would never get to see the real Joyboy.

Petition for Merphy to react to The Breathtaking World of One Piece!! (Love u Merphy😍)
Apparently this chapter was the first one that would be found in the new volume, so it makes sense that they would want the volume to begin with a chapter dedicated to reminding readers what everyone's status is in this battle.
After seeing Kaido drink himself numb throughout Wano, it's actually really nice to see him smile and loving every part of this battle versus Luffy. He used to be full of optimism, maybe even thinking he was the one to be the next Joyboy. That belief has eroded over time until he's become the man he is today. In this fight with Luffy he is rediscovering himself. He also has the chance to die a glorious death, a meaningful death.
"Death completes a person"
18:05 it means Joy Boy's ability is to bring joy to everyone, including his enemies.
I was waiting for this, I'm glad I have Mondays off :)
Edit: My favourite scenes in this were Jimbe getting some more action and Luffy grabbing a bolt of lightening at the end. Feels like its about to kick off again next chapter!
Merphy weekly chapters review are better than waiting the break week.
Thank you for the op content
merphs little raizo pose on the thumbnail is the cutest thing ever
Raizo's fight may have been the least physical, but man it was intense, Raizo was forged in fire, he knows how to handle the flames and how to extinguish them
i like how the lightning bolt Luffy's holding turned into a cartoony ⚡️ shape
Another great chapter and that last panel was just so amazing whether Luffy is really grabbing on a lightning bolt.
Yeah, when a new chapter come out, you never know if we'll follow the curent fight/action scene or jump to something completely different.
You really appreciate the context of every chapter a lot of people are not good with raizo doing this instead of someone else but this totally make sense and appropriate I always love your review keep it up mam
one piece podcast sent me to you! I love how you talk about Oda as a writer, with his themes! Keep it up! :)
Dead simple Japanese pronounciation guide, so that you can effortlessly get every character name right on the first try:
A = "ah"
I = "ee"
u = "oo"
e = "eh"
o = "oh"
Always.
When you combine then together, it's like pronouncing the first and then leaning into the second, so
Ai = "eye"
Ao = ""ah-oh," like "ow"
Au = ""ah-oo" smooshed together, like a softer "ow"
Ei = "aye" (like the name of the letter "A")
Ou = "Ohhh" long "oh," but still just "oh," no "oo" sound.
Oo = "Also Ohhh" Occassionally "oh-oh" This one can be subtly complicated
Other doubled vowels tend to just be longer versions.
y+vowel = a _very_ soft "ee" then the vowel, so like "ryu" would be about halfway between "ree-you" and "r-you", but mostly "r-you."
Oh, and vowels at the end of words, especially "u", are sometimes very clipped off, almost not there at all. and single "u" in many words is often compressed so "Bisuke" would be more like "bee-skay", "u" almost skipped and barely in there, and "desu" is closer to "dess," with just a hint of an "oo" at the end.
Honest to god, at this point, I'm pretty convinced that One Piece is like the perfect series for Murphy. Shes amongst the few one piece youtubers who understands Odas messages and nuances and shes only read the series once!!
I don’t know what transformations I like better luffys looney toons ability or merphy being a weekly one piece chapter reviewer, so many changes but equally satisfying.
Zuneisha just vibing to those 'Lu-Fy beats to study and relax to'
Bartolomeo got luffy's vivre card put in a glass dome thing right in the middle of his ship... and earlier, luffy's heart beat stopped or he maybe died ...that means his vivre card must be burning... I hope you got what I want to say
I assumed the boys would be on their way since we saw all the Navy ships heading there.

I'm so excited to our boi Barto again!
I kinda understand this theory but there’s still one thing about it, luffys grand fleet is spread out all over the new world, it would be a huge ass pull if every one of them just so happened to be near wano rn
This theory should be correct unless Oda didn't forget about it
Just want to shoutout to whoever did the subtitles on this video. You're incredible and goated
14:47 I'd say "yes" here. To both sides. Luffy has shown time and time again that he learns from his opponents. The clearest example is Crocodile, but not what you are thinking. Yes, he learns through the fights how to hit Crocoboy, but there's a moment in the first fight, when he is still at a loss on what to do, and trying whatever he can think of, that he takes a page from his fight against Wapol of all people, and uses for the first and last time a technique called Gomu Gomu no Baku Baku (Baku Baku is Wapol's fruit), and tries to eat Crocodile
I think you should stay weekly, I like you theorizing what is going to happen on each chapter. I also read the TCB release on Fridays and really enjoy listening to your video while I read the official release.
MERPHY THE CHAPTER IS SOOOOO GOOD! Raizo is my MVP of the Scabbards right now, Kinemon is still my favorite but RAIZO!!!!
It was a decent transition chapter imo, and yeah Raizo AND Jimbei the MVPs🙌🏽
Please stay weekly until you feel like you can't. These are so great
I love your idea about the wishing-lamp to motivate Momonosuke. That's totally something Oda could do.
I love how positive your reviews are. Sometimes the community narrative can become “how is Oda going to write himself out of this?” after over analyzing something. It’s refreshing to hear, “I can’t wait to see how Oda writes us out of this”!
Hi Merphy! Hope you had a good vacation! I am just waiting for these chapters. They’re so good!
First chapter cutting away from the fight but boy did it feel good! Raizo and Jimbei are the MVPs of Onigashima no question!🙌🏾🙌🏾
From beating Fukurokuju and fighting Kaido, to saving us from long range cannons and fighting Who’s Who, these two have done a lot this raid but sometimes it didn’t feel like enough. But THIS new moment definitely add depth to their contributions and makes me appreciate saving Raizo even more now!
And then we get Luffy holding lighting!! This man really is a god and I’m ALL here for it! Cant wait to see what happens to first mates Killer and Zoro cause they seem quite beaten up (with one in death’s door too💀)
Seems like Momo and Yamato have a few more moments to shine and Momo’s up next for his possible biggest moment yet! I can’t wait to see him emulate his dad and hold a burning island up in the air. It’ll hit SO hard considering all he’s been thru😭
Such a great chapter! It sucks there’s a break but with the anime coming back about to animate roof piece we still have so much more great One Piece content to see! Great video as always Merph can’t wait for more Manga Mondays and some HXH soon!☺️
I didn't know where to post this so i went for your latest video. Great one piece chapter aside, THANK YOU for recommending the Gentleman bastards!! On book 2 and LOVING it.
I think my favourite part of this chapter was Zunesha. The way he was reminiscing about Joy Boy warms my heart. "Joy Boy. Hey, Joy Boy. As if you are right there" he probably misses him a lot. I love how he loves hearing the heart beat of Luffy. The inverse of this is probably Nola who loved both Noland and Calgara and loved hearing the sweet sound of the giant belfry. Also, what does he mean why putting his faith in Luffy? How does it connect? Where is this story gonna go? I love this series so much. I can't predict anything. Second best thing prob Raizo and Jinbe followed by "I'm Luffy and I'm gonna be you and become king of the pirates".
It is so great to see Merphy just as hyped as myself when a new chapter comes out, especially after seeing her journey to this point. Merph, keep up your great spirit, your smile is contagious!
A few things to keep in mind.
1. Luffy had to have the foresight with his observation haki to see the lightning coming, and the physical speed to actually catch it mid strike. That is an INSANELY fast mental and physical reflex. More impressive than just the ability to hold the lightning.
2. These kinds of chapters are extremely important and really shouldnt be looked down on just because they lack the action we all are currently enraptured with. This chapter was a resolution to one of the huge plot devices of the end game raid. The fire was going to kill everyone and was holding back progress, in this chapter we create the potential to now group up and save all those needing to be saved. With this now we only need to beat Kaido and protect the flower capital/protect allies on Onigashima.
3. Nin Nin represent!
does haki work on stuff like weather? I know people speculate that Nami is actually using haki to sense the weather but is there anything to actually suggest people can sense things that aren't living or caused by a living thing, this feels like a stupid question, but my memory of pre-time skip observation haki is way better than the more recent stuff.
I mean fodder one piece characters have been dodging lightning since skypeia atp in the series lightning is pretty slow
thank you merph you have saved my hangover from being awful, your videos are just *chefs kiss*
Raizo had all this water on him but he allowed himself to burn with Fukurokuju because he has this guilt of leaving Oden's family to burn, that bravery is now put into a new perspective, the people in zoo were tortured to protect him and he wouldn't back down because of pain. He is pretty underrated as a character
Hey Merph, I think you'd like the Martyr theory about Kaido. There are a few versions of it, and I recommend looking into it.
I love how much you love One Piece now. You mentioned a while ago that you were probably going to do little videos for every 2-3 chapters but here we are, every single one ;)
Great review of that chapter. Enjoyed it
I think it would be really cool if you did character analysis of your favorite characters. Your Doflamingo video was really cool and I enjoyed it.
I noticed that when Kaido is talking about Luffy's death and it will become a legend, he said the same thing to Oden just at the end of the hour. I've really been enjoying seeing Oda compare Luffy to Oden recently.
Honestly, death and like rebirth is the whole premise around this arc, and the theme around Kaido, when he mentions death is what completes a person, this can be applied to Luffy as we speak. He died. Almost… then he almost pulled something like Enel, coming back to life becoming anew, completing his mind and body in conjunction with his devil fruit
That awkward moment when a story is so good, that it literally changed your whole work schedule. I can relate....
Kaido doesn't know Luffy's devil fruit. You can see him questioning Luffy's "paramecia devil fruit" in the last chapter
I have no idea how any of this works with Luffy but I'm here for it.
I saw this theory somewhere.
The ancient Egyptian god Apet or Apophis was known as the God of Darkness and the enemy of the Sun God Ra.
He was able to cast darkness around him, create earthquakes and he had the body of a giant serpent.
If Blackbeard is supposed to be based off of this god then he could easily show up in Wano and steal a serpent Devil fruit. So I imagine if Kaido were to die it would be because Blackbeard will steal his Devil Fruit. Otherwise he could take Orochis.
Hey Murphy, I love your reactions to One Piece!! Would you ever consider doing reactions to the animations(Anime) of PEAK moments in One piece? Much love!
With Luffy’s new powerup, I’m starting to think that Kaido’s defeat in a ridiculous way could brand him a laughingstock for life, the ultimate irony for a man that wishes to be remembered for a great death. If that happened, it would be a great inversion of Oden’s story where he was ridiculed by the masses in life before being seen as a great man in death.
I'm starting to feel that the renaming of Luffys fruit to being renamed to Gomu-Gomu no mi is an intentional and someone brilliant limiting factor to whoever uses it. If the true power of the fruit is only limited by one's imagination, anyone other than Luffy who would use it likely wouldn't imagine it being anything other than a "rubber fruit". Even here, Luffy believes he's rubber and he knows lighting doesn't affect him, of course, that causes him to think he can just grab lightning out of a local stormcloud. Luffy has just been using these powers so long that I think he just associates the crazy things that we all know rubber can't rightly do with things it can, that line has become really blurred to him.
The true nature of Luffy's power is of course immensely complicated in terms of mechanics. It may have actually been a fairly brilliant move on the Gorosei's part to give it a name that implies the power is far more mundane than it actually is. Most users imagine that they are rubber and that's what power they have. Luffy has had this power for ~10 in-universe years, and early on he really only used the "Rubber" nature of the fruit.
Big side note, however, I know we're all talking about how Blackbeard may secretly have some kind of "Moon God" power to be the opposite of the coin. But let's not forget this isn't the first mythical human fruit we've seen that is connected to a diety. Sengoku has the Daibutsu fruit (Giant Golden Buddha). Making the only two of these we know of either in the hands of the former fleet admiral or highly sought by the world government in the case of Luffy's fruit. Gets the gears turning.
My big question now tho is... Why didn't the world government go after Luffy harder if they KNEW he had this fruit all along?
I feel like were owed an explanation there.. cuz they could have made him a higher bounty target, or the many times he ran into admirals, why didn't they do more to capture him?
@@joereality1664 I mean besides the two years he was out of the game, the in-universe time that luffy has been sailing is less than 4-5 months, that's not a lot and I believe about half or even more of that time is in east blue or the new world(places the wg are less inclined to operate in for different reasons), he really hasn't sailed in paradise that long for the wg to be "slacking". you can't say Akainu didn't try his hardest to kill him, he wasn't captured or killed doesn't mean no one tried. it's just what the gorosei said, the fruit always seems to be out of their hands, evading capture. also suddenly pursuing a rubber boy with huge forces or giving him even higher bounties(I think the 1.5 bil is the wg finally thinking he could awaken and panicking) would def look a bit sus and raise some questions both in the navy and on the outside. sending Kuma that one time should be enough, and they would've succeeded if not for Kuma's allegiance. hope this answers your question
I genuinely enjoy how much YOU love the scabbards as characters. They're not my favorite but I feel like alot of fans unfairly crap on them and overlook them. As a whole they're important for the themes of wano and a needed perspective of the over arcing world. Keep hyping em up 😎
I think all chapters up to the middle of the next arc will be fire and you will have a tough time going back to 3chapters per video until then.
Seems like the hype chapters have kinda died down for a minute but even so I love seeing Raizo pop off
I'm so happy that my boy Raizo got some screen time! 🥷
Raizo was planning was amazing, he fought Kaido and the beast pirates before and learned their tactics, so while being in chains in Zou he planned this,
The post Wano power ups are gonna be so crazy I'm already super excited to see it
Ryzo was also the one to complain about the heat of oden's execution so for him to have had this water but did not waste any of it on himself when he was on fire because a vastle of oden would not feel the heat just makes him pulling out the water even stronger of a moment.
because enel was mentioned I really want to say one thing, enel is the name of the main electricity provider here in Italy
Some of Kaido moves are related to norse mythology and to the Vikings, a glorious death in battle was the way to Valhala, so maybe theres something related to that and maybe to Elbaf, since giants are a big deal in norse myths
There is probably a parallel between Kaidos druken state and Luffys Gear 5 being "Joy drunk".
Kaido being associated with death in general is so true! Even his whole aesthetic is so grim, with him living inside a giant skull and all...
You and Tekking101 were the only one piece youtubers that I watch that really highlighted the actual focus of this chapter, titled Raizo. Everyone else seems blinded by luffy holding a lightning bolt
Idk if this is something you would be interested in doing, but if you haven’t watched them I would love to see your reaction to all the anime openings! Some really fun music and great visuals if you are a manga fan (they adapt a lot of odas color pages into animation for them and I love them)
Oda is the kid in class that would draw dinosaurs with helicopter propellers and laser beams coming out of them, and now he does it for a living.
I think one of my favourite panels in this chapter was when Robin and Brook ran into those guys who were just like "oh man, we're so sorry", "there are just no words" - made me laugh so much
I am so happy that Naruto universe has entered One Piece universe, haha. The water scroll reminded me of the epic fight between shikamaru, kakashi and kakuzu
I'm so happy you do One Piece videos😊✌
I love how luffy is a character that changes the world around him, and not the other way around
I do love the chapters where we see the other characters.
And I love the fact Luffy in his god-like status still confirms the faith in his crew.
They all do their best rn... well those who can do something.
Though Nami should be able to create rain without Zeus, no?
Sanji tries to protect the ladies (love that Chuji is on his shoulder- so adorable!), Franky tries his best to get Zoro asap to Chopper (not sure what he can do, but we'll see) and even Usopp tried!
Very clever that Raizo had so much water in his storage/paper rolls and that Jimbei was right there to help him with his powers.
Kaido is such an interesting villain. The respect he shows for those who do not fear death and the willingness to give them honorable ends that won't be forgotten is a great foil to Oden who never cared about being remembered in the first place. Oden's introduction even has him openly and loudly disrupting a pyre to cook food for the recently departed as if he was still alive. Kaido is all about the end justifying the means and the eventual destination but Oden is all about the preservation of life and the journey that it truly is.
Sending loves all the way from Malaysia!!!
Part of the reason Oda cuts away like that is because of the actual volumes. This chapter will be the start of a new volume so it needs to re-establish what's going on and wrap up threads.
Every 10 or 11 chapters he'll do that regardless of what the pacing might have been otherwise. It also makes the fights longer and more epic if we're not seeing every move and some of it is offscreen.
This chapter will probably be the first of the volume, that's why it checks on everyone, and it also shows the difference between reading week to week or volume to volume.
Just do the weekly, Merphy. We all want you to and you do as well
Speaking of Kaido’s death, imagine if Blackbeard arrived and killed Kaido for his fruit - similar to Whitebeard. “Whitebeard did it right” after all.
Then Blackbeard would have a logia, paramecia, and Zoan fruit to mirror Luffy’s fruit which has every properties of all three types.
AND I read a comment saying Blackbeard is meant to be the Egyptian snake god, Apophis. The evil deity of darkness who causes earthquakes with his movements, and spends each night trying to eat the Sun God, Ra. When he does, we get Eclipses and Ra’s brother has to force Apophis to regurgitate the sun.
That's so cool!
Imagine if that's where Alabasta comes back in. Vivi still has something to do with all this.
Wow, that's interesting, having in mind that we barely know anything about Blackbeard. He is like an evil Shanks. I can picture BB killing Shanks on a fight surrounded by relevant information of both of them, and their crews (specially Shank's).
@@SergioGarcia-vt6cp Shanks himself seems pretty sus right now.
I love your reactions and have been following your journey to catching up and now becoming a weekly reader for a couple months now 💜 just wanted to say that Momo's name isn't "momosuke" it's "momonosuke" like mo-mo-no-su-ke. I'm excited to see what Oda has in store for us in the coming weeks !
One Piece is without a doubt my favorite manga, I actually found your channel through One Piece.
The Magnus Archives is my favorite podcast, it not as good as one piece but I think you will love it too.
Day 26.
Raizo is an actual Legend
I wonder if Kaido's idea of Joyboy is not as a present beacon, leading and rallying those that follow him. But instead is the idea of a messiah, someone whose death inspires others to take action.
Would make his line "you couldn't become it either" have a different feel to it, since he said that as Luffy fell into the ocean.
That actually makes a lot of sense because iirc before that he's talking about how no one noticed Luffy fall off the island
Anyone saying "Oh no, One Piece has changed!" Its been 2 chapters, calm down.
"Luffy in the Sky grabbing Lightning" sounds like a rejected Beatles song.😆😁
