The sad fact is the people that pre ordered the game are going to say that you’re right but they wouldn’t wait even second to do it again. This is the exact reason me and my friends stop getting excited for new game releases which blows. In my personal opinion the only way for the games industry to improve is for another video game crash to occur just like what happened in 1983.
I think we're already in the build up to another major Video Game crash here in the West and absolutely welcome it. A lot of major studios have began doing layoffs, and there have been quite a few massive AAA flops (even some successful studios are having a difficult time making their money back on relatively good releases). I think even the normies have gotten sick of it (then again I have zero faith in them cause they will probably forget about it in a few months and just gobble down the next COD game). All while Indie games will continue to come off swinging.
It turns out Aspyr lied about not using the earlier version of the unofficial Xbox DLC mod. The version on PS5 still uses the moded animations as opposed to the restored animations from the latest version of the mod and actual DLC.
If this collection had a reasonable file size, integrated Steam Workshop/modding tools, was functional at launch, and included the PsP/DS game as a bonus the price tag would be more than worth it. It’s crazy how badly they’ve fumbled this.
"will shill which whatever way the wind blows" Thats most youtubers nowadays. they are grifters. They only care about profits, so they just agree with whatever the "popular" Opinion is, even if its wrong or right. doesn't matter to them. thats why every halotuber was shitting on infinite but months later when back to shilling like they did at the launch of infinite.
I remember I bought into the hype for Infinite because all these people who were previously VERY critical of 343 were singing the game’s praises leading up to launch. We now know that a bunch of them were invited by 343 to play the game early (LateNightGaming being one of them) and some of them now actually work with 343. That combined with the fact that the marketing team behind Halo has ALWAYS done a good job of making the games look so much better than they actually are (people forgot just how good the misleading marketing behind 5 was. It was genuinely interesting and advertised a COMPLETELY different game from what we’d eventually get in). Thankfully, I now know to NEVER trust the marketing or the shills. Just wish it didn’t take me this long.
Nothing but straight facts in this video. I bought the two original Battlefront games on steam just to spite Aspyr. Oh and I wouldn't put it past them to delist the two originals in the future.
My brother, I am embarrassed. I have been an outspoken critic of modern game development practices AND an aggressive critic toward gamers that perpetuate the problem by preordering games and spending money on micro transactions. I myself have never spent a dime on a micro transaction (except for DLC like map packs, etc.). I am extremely jaded and cheap when it comes to games. I’ve never bought a full priced Triple-A game… except for Halo Infinite because I was CONFIDENT it was going to be a return-to-form. Disappointment. I haven’t played it for months. I’ve never preordered a game… except for the Battlefront Collection because I was CONFIDENT it would AT LEAST be as good as the original two games (which I would gladly spend $30 on). Disappointment. I’m trying to get a refund. Point is, I’m not a Whale nor do I jump on the preorder bandwagon. But I’ve been genuinely deceived here. I think a lot of people jumped on the Battlefront bandwagon for similar reasons. It still boggles the mind how they somehow re-released a 20-y/o game in a MORE BROKEN state than it was in two decades ago.
I didn't pre order Infinite but I bought it in the first week it released so I get you there. As for Battlefront and HI really the writing was on the wall for both. Like I said the BF Collection was announced way too late relative to when it would be released and the whole thing reeked of a cheap cash grab especially for PC players. Console players OK they had a reason to be hyped but PC players had literally no reason to be excited. The games already existed there for a long time. This is why I stick to old games/free mods. So glad I didn’t buy this. It’s pretty crazy how a game that’s a combination of BF1 and 2 is somehow 50 gigabytes. I’m assuming that’s from the upscaled textures. Do you think you’ll do videos on Empire at War and Galactic Battlegrounds? You could probably also cover a bunch of the mods. Same goes for C&C mods. I remember you also said something about potentially doing a video on Crystal Alien Conflict. That Flash game was a lot of fun. Same goes for Lego Battles.
There’s this cool mod for Galactic Battlegrounds you might want to check out called Expanding Fronts (unfortunately, I haven’t played it or the actual game yet. Still waiting for a Steam sale). It rebalances the game and adds in a few new factions, including ones from the Sequel Trilogy (even though I don’t like Disney Star Wars, I’m glad that people who are fans of it can get something out of the mod). That’s too bad. Hopefully, you change your mind at some point. I remember in the past you said something about possibly doing a video that covers Halo Wars and some of the mods. The most interesting thing about that game is how Bungie were openly hostile towards Ensemble and repeatedly tried to get the thing shutdown (if we were talking about Ensembles weird Halo MMO that thankfully never got made I’d understand, but we aren’t talking about that. Plus, Bungie originally intended for Halo to be an rts so it’s not a very far fetched idea). Also, half of Ensemble were doing other projects that weren’t even sanctioned because they were completely burnt out on making rts games. The game was sadly also held back by being on a controller. It would be awesome if we got a remake of 1 and 2 that combined the best elements of both, restored cut content/added modded content, and designed the game around keyboard and mouse so it could actually be a proper rts. Sadly, that will NEVER happen, unless some crazy guy comes along and makes a fan game.
Yup, it really is a shitty collection, infact I've made a comparison in a reddit post about how worse the game looks graphically compared to the original games. Buggy, broken, mods don't work, broken sounds. What's funny is bf1 on pc runs fine on pc up to 4k, and for bf2 you can get a mod that literally fixes all the issues the original game has on pc due to age, that and you can buy the original games for cheaper on steam. You bet your arse I noticed how worse the collection looked compared to the original games. This game ain't doing an MCC style redemption ark anytime soon, and lots of people had and still have reasons to buy mcc, it's a good example of a pretty decent collection of old games. Of course we can't forget that 2014 launch unfortunately, and you'd think devs would learn from that these days. I hardly even buy modern releases now, the last modern release I bought and enjoyed was starfield, halo infinite before that when it first came out, and doom eternal when that came out, and recently brought helldivers 2 which is amazing and what we need from more games, I literally stick to older games like morrowind, Oblivion, the mgs games, vermintide 2 for example.
I am somewhat surprised with how a company managed to bloat 2 Gen 6 games into a total of 70GB to download. I suspect they must have uncompressed the texture and mesh files, and planted DRM and anti-cheat bloat into those file cache chunks. Anyways, it is a good thing I still own BF1 and BF2 classics.
Don't forget half the campaign cutscenes are absent as well lol. I'm convinced this launch couldn't have gone worse if they were actively sabatoging it.

The Battlefront series is my favorite series of Star Wars games. I was deeply disappointed by the way EA handled its two recent outings so a classic collection that really is not promising much other than spruced up ports would've been nice. Full disclosure, I didn't buy the game and I hope later on that major fixes come but I'm not holding my breath. This is unacceptable, when it was just the multiplayer?
