You got my thumps-up over the competitors by not only giving the handy advice about unit and buff-pad care but also explaining about how to use it on the car for best results.
I seriously can't remember when I last used mine, but today I took it from the shed to my car, put on the battery and wow, still fully charged! I mean this is like nearly 12 months since I last used it. Great polisher, had mine some years now. Get one, but use different polishing cloths.
this video is very informative. I opened the box, and the instructions don't even say what's what, and how to use it. this should be an official Ryobi video
Hey Tool Craze. Thanks for the review, appreciate you used a “real-life” vehicle so we could see real-life results. I appreciate this is a somewhat dated review now, but would like to check one thing please. Similar to the last comment, I found the machine good for applying the polish, but not so good for polishing it off. I believe I followed the instructions properly (similar to how you applied a liquid polish), but polishing it off after it dried didn’t work. I was left with a fine haze, and a number of particularly hard “specks” of polish. Took an inordinate amount of elbow grease to get it all off. Didn’t have the same problem where we applied polish by hand, came off much easier. We used “Audi New Car Balm & Wax” (on a 6mth old Ford 😉), and 2 charged 1.5 AH batteries. It certainly didn’t come off anywhere near as easy as yours did. Thanks.
Nice review! My one gripe about my corded 10 inch buffer is the cord. It bugs my when I'm under the boat and the cord snags on a trailer tire and pulls apart. The only down side it the location of the battery and the added height. I have to get around the trailer and my corded buffer is already too tall. Even so this will go on dad's gift list for sure! We usually burn out the corded ones every few years, so I'll try one of these next. We are about due for another new one.
You're costing me so much money in Ryobi tools! I enjoy your reviews especially Ryobi reviews. I'm going to have to pick one of these up for my boat. Have you used the Protip sprayer SSP300? Reviews on Home Depot website aren't very good, It's currently on sale. Keep up the great work!
That thing is so cheap. WOW!!!! I love the fact that it's cordless. That runtime is something else too. Nice job on the car BTW. I do wish it had variable speed though. I have a corded harbor freight model that just spins. No orbital action. It works and gets the job done. I like the variable speed on it.
+Love2boat92 it is, only $10 more than the ryobi corded model. Thanks bro, it's an old car and luckily a good wax makes the old paint look better. Good to hear an hf model is getting the job done. Some of their tools are good deals and reliable, others are you get what you pay for.
Tool Craze No problem. That car is actually pretty new. Ha-ha. We have an old army jeep. Over 50 years old. A truck that is close to 45. My boat is probably close to 56 years. Ha-ha. Yeah I've found most of the stuff at harbor freight is a really good value.
Wow really?!?? Ryobi line has it all man! I c this as being great for the homeowner I wonder how it would do at the shop? We color sand and polish a lot at the shop and we get quite a few detail jobs also. My buddy also has a detail business I'm gonna tell him about this. Thanks Javier!!
Any video with the small Ryobi 6 in...with the 10 in how long does it last with the big battery. Beside is it just for bonnet covers or works with other stick pads as well?
+sl2uner thanks, it was not heavy at all with the 4.0 battery. Using a smaller battery means weight savings of about half a pound or so, I don't think there's a big difference in total weight between using either battery on the tool
I bought because of your review thanks!!! I find that my battery is very hard to snap in place. Where is my other Ryobi tools? Kind of snaps and easy. What is yours like this or does it loosen up overtime? Is this normal?
Dont use the edge of the buffer, its orbital remember, you turn it into a hammer. Also, throw away the buffing wool, theyre terrible, youd do better to apply with a terry and buff with one too or do it by hand. Same goes for polishing, use the terry clothes only, never the wool as it wont have the power to move it evenly.
Does anyone know how long does the 1.5 A battery stay alive in hours? I want to polish my limousine with that this spring and also buy the Ryobi mobile vacuum cleaner so that i can clean the car inside after the polishing and before the hand-waxing with the same battery and ask myself which battery I should buy
Good job. Quick question, do you know how to replace the foam when bad? Also, my buffer is not turning on. I barely used it I had it for like 5 yrs. do you know what might be the problem? Thanks ahead
looks like the foam is just hot glue gunned in place so I would say replace the foam in the same way as it was installed, where to find the same foam, I don't know.
No. This isn't powerful enough to polish. This tops out at 2500rpm. A DA Polisher normally tops out between 6000-7000 rpm. Also, for polishing you don't want anything as big as 10in. Too imprecise.
I bought this, but I returning it. The covers are way too small. I destroyed the tool trying to stretch the cover over the pad. I noticed that on all videos about this tool, they purposely avoid showing the person trying to put the cover on the pad.
@@ToolCraze Used it for the first time yesterday with a fully charged 5ah battery. The tool quite simply does not have the power to operate at the pressure required to properly buff something. Was taking so long to get the job done I went back to hand buffing with a microfiber.
I had no problem using it and looking at the many comments, no one except for you has either. Either yours is defective or you're not using it correctly.
You got my thumps-up over the competitors by not only giving the handy advice about unit and buff-pad care but also explaining about how to use it on the car for best results.
Thank you for clarifying the use of the bonnets. I haven't found anyone else that has.

Hello, which polishing cloths would you recommend?
This is the video that will get me to Home Depot and purchase one. Well Done!
this video is very informative. I opened the box, and the instructions don't even say what's what, and how to use it. this should be an official Ryobi video
Thanks Joshua Burgess, glad you like the car. It gets me from point A to point B and sometimes to point C

you just made me get up and get my credit card , nice vid.
Nice review. I wish more companies would offer their cars in green.
Good video about the Ryobi cordless orbital buffer. Helped me make my decision to try it. Thanks.
Just bought this item and i am really excited to use it.
What did you think about it?

Wild Goose thanks bro, thanks for sharing you're experience. Being cordless is definitely a huge feature
Damn dude, that did a fantastic job on your car. Looks great!
Brien thanks Brien

Kevin Avery lol, thanks Kevin. I don't think I'm familiar with the pro tip sprayer. I'll have to see what it is
Thanks for the video. I need this!! SICK and TIRED of doing SLOW paste wax By HAND on a HUGE minivan. Buying one now.
you're welcome, also Ryobi recently launced a new polisher. Check it out here toolcraze.net/ryobi-18v-5-variable-speed-dual-action-polisher-pbf100/

Mike Z that's what I like about ryobi 18v line that they have a big variety of cordless tools.
Cool tool, great review as usual and it made some quick work of the waxing job.
Nice car.
nice!!! just got one and really appreciate this quick and to the point vid!.
How many wool/polishing bonnet do you need to polish a whole car? My concern is polishing bonnet will be gunked out with wax.
Can it polish out swirl marks using professional polishing compound ?
check the polishing compounds instructions on RPM and see. A polisher machine like this might be better amzn.to/37r0NCn
@@ToolCraze cord is a no no
Wow, great review. I never knew the wool bonnet could be used to remove hazed wax. Will definitely try it out.
i was pleased with mine until the foam head separated (dried glue between layers). replacement foam doesnt seem to be available!
how do you wash the thingies
Any video with the small Ryobi 6 in...with the 10 in how long does it last with the big battery. Beside is it just for bonnet covers or works with other stick pads as well?
Great review! Thanks.I wonder if you used the smaller battery pack if it would obviously weigh less and help you become less fatigued.
+sl2uner thanks, it was not heavy at all with the 4.0 battery. Using a smaller battery means weight savings of about half a pound or so, I don't think there's a big difference in total weight between using either battery on the tool

Glad you enjoyed the review! I don't have that problem with any of my tools. If it doesn't seem right, I'd exchange it for another at the store.
would this be strong enough for polishing a car as well as just waxing?
Late here, but no. Not even close.

Awesome, thank you!
Can it be used in countertops?

Can use this for wood floors
probably but there are better solutions for that that wouldn't break your back
Zero swirl and scratches after cut buff wax and shine ??
What's the difference between this an a DA polisher? Besides being cordless they do the same job right?
No. This isn't powerful enough to polish. This tops out at 2500rpm. A DA Polisher normally tops out between 6000-7000 rpm. Also, for polishing you don't want anything as big as 10in. Too imprecise.

Will it use any 10" pads? Microfiber, etc.
it should
which polish or compound have you used???????????/
Paste and liquid wax from turtle wax and meguiars
Good stuff Javier
Nouser Unrecognizable thanks bro

I agree, they are very tight to install
Thanks for this!
how many lithium battery is inside a ryobi 40v
Soy fan ryobi me gustaria un review de sds ryobi 18 v , saludos y gracias por contestarme siempre
guillermo aguilar saludos Guillermo, deja veo si puedo conseguir uno
sold...thanks man
What kind of pads are you using ?
stock
Can you put wax on it ?
On the stock foam pad ?
Yes, yes and yes. Stock pad, stock bonnets and replacement bonnets
where did you get it for 40$
don't remember if I bought it or ryobi supplied it but the price was when the video was made
It's currently on Home Depot for $35 as a "tool only". Been that price as long as I can remember.
I need one of these!!
Can i change the foam pad to a lesser size? this is 10" I would to use 5" foam pads to the machine.
Not by traditional means, you'd have to hack/ modify the machine.
I'm SOLD!
Also can you buy premium pads bonnets ?? Where and what choices ??
It should be hybrid diozed as well.
Is this Jesse's mate off Breaking Bad?
Good video
so you are unable to charge it.
charge what?
Top down buddy. Top down.
So I have to buy the battery?
If you want a paperweight, no. If you want to use the tool, yes.
"The get the job done"
No they don't
don't blame the tool if YOU can't get the job done
