Hi Nikki. I adopted a dog that appeared to have a similar skin condition many years ago. No tick-related illnesses that I was aware of. My veterinarian recommended that I add omega 3 fatty acids to his diet. For what it's worth, it did the trick!

Our German shepherd was losing hair on the tips of her ears and was scratching all over. I started eliminating “people” food I was guilty of giving her (mainly the ends of our sourdough bread) and the itching stopped and after a couple months the hair grew back.
My son’s dog started out losing hair, but got worse with from itching so badly, that he ended up with open wounds from licking. After lots of meds and a bunch of testing they found out he has Lupus. Wishing your pup an answer to the mystery and quick healing.
Niki love your dogs, in doing so please refrain from letting Rodney from riding in your lap. I am not sure if it is the same thing or not, but I took in a rescue dachshund/beagle mix about 14 years ago and he had what the vet called heat spots all over his body. The spots were where the hair was falling out and were bald. But he constantly scratched at the spots. The vet felt it was due to his previous owners feeding him nothing but human food scraps, which is what they told me they had fed him. it took me about 6 months to get him on a good dog food, he hated it at first, then with a special bath shampoo within a year it was all cleared up. @@NikkiDelventhal ah, excellent, so glad you saw a derm! Now the question can be if the vasculitis is from the tick bites themselves or the tick-borne disease since both can cause it - I guess if he was getting new lesions those would be from the tick-borne disease. He is seeing the best folks to treat him for it. Glad he’s having less issues with it!
I've experienced the hair loss several times with rescue and foster dogs. Every time, after ruling or other conditions from the vet, we turned to a grain and legume free diet. Often, a raw diet from the local meat market of liver, hearts, etc. have the fastest/best results.

G'day Nikki, Michelle here from beautiful Jervis Bay in Australia. It's actually 5.55am Saturday 17th as I text this, so Good Morning! I have been a HUGE fan of yours since your Prius days and remain loyal to your channel as you are the greatest ❤ antidepressant ever!!! One of my most fave vids was when you climbed a massive tree and slept up there. "Wild thang, you make my heart sing!" Good to see home depot hasn't changed it's PAWlicy 😂 Little Rodney is gorgeous and besotted with you! Who wouldn't be, you are heaps of fun!! On a more serious note, my cat used to have patches of hair loss on his head. I popped into a vet for a quick chat at front desk and she said, make a weak tea like solution of Betadine liquid and water and with cotton wool dab it on the bald patches. It totally cleared up and never returned. Do it regularly. Just in a little cup add say a tsp of betadine, then just a bit of water to form a weak tea solution. Saturate cotton wool and dab on regularly, hopefully it's in a place he can't lick easily. Cortisone should be avoided if possible. The vet I saw agreed. Anyway beautiful woman, keep smiling😃 and keep cutting those carrots like a playboy bunny 😂 Stay safe and happy! Big squeezy hugs for our favourite boy Campy - my nickname for him. What an amazing friend you have in him. The magical still shots you have with you and Camp together are just awesome! I have never been to the USA, so it's been a joy to see your beautiful country through your eyes and armchair travel - well usually I'm horizontal 😂 See you Nik on the next one. These Emojis are a bit addictive ❤🎉❤🎉

@venettamacdonald4017 Hello Venetta, 👋 🇦🇺 Fellow Australian, I certainly do agree that Nikki has a warm heart and is a happiness magnet. Camper and Rodney are two of the luckiest dogs in the world to land themselves such a great caring human Mom! I also love the doggy welfare work Nikki does behind the scenes. Helping dogs find their forever families. Nikki is absolutely a very special woman indeed and that's why I subscribe to her channel! 🐕 🐶 ❤
Right after the vet scene at the beginning of your video, you open the slider to the van and there was a partial jug of Prestone- if this was antifreeze, don’t forget that dogs and cats are so attracted to that stuff and it can really harm them. Love you, the dogs and the videos!
Ingrown toenail advice that really works. Put a tiny sliver of cotton or tissue under the area thatis growing into your skin. It will give it a little lift so that it will grow out. Do this for as long as needed and of course change out the cotton as needed. It could take a while but it really works. Hope that helps. Love your doggies and your Chanel
What always helps me when I start to get an ingrown toenail is to file down the upper surface of the nail. It relieves the pressure on the sides and almost always prevents it from fully digging in.
Nikki, my Labrador had a lot of issues that were allergy related. I wonder if Rodney is having an allergic reaction to something that is causing the hair loss.
Never tire watching Nikki s vlogs all with camper now also w/ Rodney ..very practical simple neat and so calming for me .having behaved dogs and it is real tight on being in van lifevyet it looked just so easy... Thank you much Nikki for the positivity and patience on your daily work...thank yu🎉❤ 💞 💐🎂🎂🙏☀️

@@cindybrites5158 fellow Aussie here. Yes, people will literally smash your car windows if they see a dog locked inside in summer here. No joke in Oz.😢
trucker here... they sometimes have non-potable water at the truck stop diesel pumps that they use for windshield washing and topping off your radiator.. the downside is there's no hose (just a spigot) so you may need some kind of jug or jerrycan that fits into the water inlet on your van
To reduce the incidence of disease for the dogs, as much as possible give them natural food as opposed to manufactured food and give the dogs enough exercise, then they don't fall sick frequently ❤❤
We have Ridgeback he had patch like a thread bare carpet in the winter found out it was a form off. Alopecia. Because off not much sun. .in the summer it cleared up.
@@NikkiDelventhal the wake up scene is giving “reality tv show wake up after the camera crew gets there and makeup is done”. Haha. Which is honestly what you need next (your own reality show)! We will watch wherever your life takes you. People watch for you, not just because you live in a van.
Not trying to be a Karen, just some info. It is dangerous to let a dog sit on your lap while driving. In an accident they can be hurt by the steering wheel. Also a seat harness for the front seat for Camper could save him injury or worse. Although your s safe driver there are a lot who aren’t. Having worked for a Vet for many years I have seen dogs injured in even minor accidents. Your dogs are very fortunate to have a mom who cares so much about them and all dogs. Stay safe.❤
I temped for an ophthalmological vet for one week. She removed 2 to 3 eyes a day from numerous dogs whose owners let them ride with their heads out of the car window, because "they LOVE the wind!" These owners shouldn't be allowed to have pets - they are criminally irresponsible.
What a Debbie Downer. Looks like Nikki does well on her own, and she already has a mother. I doubt you could do as well as her on the road. Nikki you rock!
Seems to be a lot of want to be vets posting here, but did nobody notice the gallon of antifreeze next to the water dish? If the dogs lick the bottle that would be a whole new diagnosis for you want to be vets.
First thing I noticed when she opened her door. Of course I will never forget how dangerous that stuff is we had a neighbor that gave that to our dog during the night. He suffered a horrible death
As someone who gets ingrown toenails every time I clip them, here are some tips: 1) shove a cottonball under the nail as far back as you can, it helps gradually lift the nail. 2) take a pocket knife and slowly shave the center of the top of your nail so it slowly lifts the nail, don’t do it too thin, but thin enough you’ll feel the difference. 3) sterilize a pocket knife with a small point and use that to lift the nail. It hurts but it’s temporary. Hope it helps!
Nicki please do not drive with your dog on your lap, if you are in an accident your dog will not survive, either from the airbag or when you are thrown forward. As a retired volunteer FF I have seen this happen. Broke my heart.
If you go to the pharmacy counter and ask for sulphur. Sprinkle some on Rodney’s food every day. Our friends dog had a bare patch on its backside due to fleas, and what the vet prescribed did not work. The sulphur worked like a charm, and within a month had healthy skin and shiny hair. Hope this helps you, and its easy to find and research online re. Sulphur.
My wife and I spend a lot of our time outdoors. I highly recommend lavender oil for bites such as fire ants or sand fleas. Stops the itching and heals quickly. Tea tree, cedar and eucalyptus oils also work well. All are safe for the dogs also. We have three GSDs and use oils to treat their bites. Please purchase high quality oils and not from Walmart or other chain brands.
It's rechargeable but it holds a charge up to a year or like 60 uses plus it has ports to charge all your other devices from the battery pack if you need to. They're around $50 and one of the most convenient things that I've ever had in my car. I've also been able to help other people who were stranded. Just FYI
I had a dog with similar skin issues. it turned out he was allergic to lots of things. Lots of food proteins, so he had to go on a hydrolyzed protein food. He also had contact allergies with vinyls and plastics that would irritate him. So plastic toys and bowls and collars with coated fibers were out too. He got a leather collar, a metal food bowl and some higher end toys, to go with his new food. Lot of hypoallergenic treats and things, and it cleared up.
Nikki is there no water stores around you could fill up big gallons for pretty cheap. Thank you for all your inspiration and the time and energy you put in your channel. I always watch band wives too so happy you guys are friends and you enjoyed your times together
Hey Nikki, I live off of Offenhauser at the verge Apartments right behind. There is a small walking trail on the little hill. If you’re ever back in here or this area, you should try it for your dogs.
If you can find a vet who knows about NAET (Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique), it can REALLY help with auto immune disorders, allergies, and more.
Enjoy the content. One or two words of advice. Always wash or clean your dogs paws before they get back in your vehicle after walking in parking lots and stores. Those lots and retail floors are beyond filthy with fecal matter, oil, dirt and a bunch of other things they will pick up on their paws and bring back into your seats, bedding and floor area. Also may not be wise to let the dogs lick your face, there is a lot of stuff you just dont want to risk getting fron their mouth
Glad you liked Reno! Healthy tails is the best. Your adventures give me hope that the Sprinter View in my driveway will be our retirement chariot in the following months.
Nikki, I would suggest asking the vet to test for allergies for Rodney. Our boy after he turned 1 started having similar issues and it turns out, he is allergic to chicken or any treats with chicken. We feed him all kinds of meat with rice, & dry kibble is salmon .
A few life hacks: itchy skin via rash, mosquito bites, etc hair dryer. In grown roe nail, dig it out, sorry, and let your toe nail grow out. I.no longer cut nails too close where nail meets the skin. Hope this helps! Thanks for sharing your journey.
Hey Nikki! Our pup Greta had something similar, if not the same thing. She was a rescue and we went to vets from the East Coast where we adopted to her to the west where we eventually lived. The only vet who was able to sort her out was Dr. Jean Greek who owns the Dermatology and Animal Clinic for Animals in Santa Barbara and Ventura, California. Not sure if you'll be headed south any time soon, but I would HIGHLY recommend going to see her. Our pup had this patchy hair loss issue for years, stumped every vet, and she figured it out. And she's just an amazing wealth of knowledge. Best of luck!
Lovely to see you back with your fur babies. Camper is such a good dog and he will show Rodney the do's and don'ts. Hope the medication helps Rodney's problem and hope the Epsom salts helps your toe x
Apply Witchhazel on a cotton ball 2xday to bald spots. Our 1 adopted pup had some balding spots also, home remedy from our vet as no cause found. It worked, took about 2 mos to see hair regrowth. Luck and Luv to you and your pups.
When i was a k9 officer i got some repellent that kept the fleas and ticks off their coat I would apply it to Tazer coat and it kept the fleas and tick, off his coat, because of the building and woods that we will go into .
Hey Nikki, I tried the soaking ingrown toenails in salt water many years ago, was also told after soaking them to put some aftershave on the area around the ingrown to help toughen up the skin by a doctor. this was before getting sent to see a specialist in the hospital. Like others have most likely suggested try cutting a small v in the nail to remove the bad bit of nail and let it grow again. If it doesn’t get better best getting it checked out. Sadly none of these worked for me as the ingrown’s never cleared(both big toes at the same time) so ended up with full removal of both nails including the nail bed destroyed so they would never grow back again. I would avoid any hikes that involves scrambling over boulders where you can put pressure on the toe with the ingrown as it could delay the healing.
Soak toe in peroxide with a little water or alone, the emergency room doctor told me to do that he also said to cut the toe nail straight across and not round.
With any bites, use DMSO. It itches a little bit right after application, but once you make it past that initial itch, it will stop the itching and heal it faster.
I used to stay away from plastic bottles but if you noticed your grocery cart was full of food wrapped in plastic so I gave up on that. I like to think you can balance the toxins with exercise. Also, I think I might have seen you at Costco once (Miami). Yeah, that was random. Love the channel.

These Emojis are a bit addictive ❤🎉❤🎉
hi fellow Aussie i to am a huge fan of Nikki an been following her and saw the video when her mum an d herself where hiking in Mexico and found Camper I being a dog lover was as happy as pig in poo when Nikki and her mum decided to rescue and keep camper ,SHE IS ABSOULTLEY A BEAUTIFUL SOUL,dont you agree and a The Bestest Channel🙌from me V West Aussie 🥰
@venettamacdonald4017
Hello Venetta, 👋 🇦🇺 Fellow Australian,
I certainly do agree that Nikki has a warm heart and is a happiness magnet. 🐕 🐶 ❤
My favorite channel by far. I catch every episode. Thanks for all the wonderful entertainment Nikki!
Yay! Thank you!
Right after the vet scene at the beginning of your video, you open the slider to the van and there was a partial jug of Prestone- if this was antifreeze, don’t forget that dogs and cats are so attracted to that stuff and it can really harm them. Love you, the dogs and the videos!
yes this is the 2nd time antifreeze was in a video...good call...a big concern for me as well. I hope Nikki or her cousin reads this comment
its prestone waterline RV stuff. not the same
@@david.ferris great!! 😊
Dr. Scholl’s ingrain toenail remover works like a charm as well.
Hey Rodney, Camper, and Nikki! I love sharing your adventures!🌟🌟🌟
What always helps me when I start to get an ingrown toenail is to file down the upper surface of the nail. It relieves the pressure on the sides and almost always prevents it from fully digging in.
Your boys are such good dogs!! Camper is a good big brother!!! ❤❤❤
Thanks!
I live in my car and just started my TH-cam channel and love seeing fellow van/car/rv lifers so awesome!
live in your car! they said. travel all over! they said. it'll be fun! they said.... ummm not true .. jus sayin
I love camp and Rodney
Gooood afternoon from central Florida! Hope everyone has a great afternoon!
In summer how do you do all your errands
In Australia we can’t leave dogs in the car it’s massive fine
I have an ac unit in my van and 1200 AH battery system even still if it’s that hot out that it would be potentially unsafe i wait til evening when the sun is down
@@NikkiDelventhal oh ok that’s great.. if we leave dogs in car for 5 mins in Australia even in winter they will melt 🤣
@@cindybrites5158 fellow Aussie here. Yes, people will literally smash your car windows if they see a dog locked inside in summer here. No joke in Oz.😢
"I think we're gonna hit up whole paycheck"
I mean, this kind of quip is why I'm a subscriber 🤣🤣
trucker here... they sometimes have non-potable water at the truck stop diesel pumps that they use for windshield washing and topping off your radiator.. the downside is there's no hose (just a spigot) so you may need some kind of jug or jerrycan that fits into the water inlet on your van
To reduce the incidence of disease for the dogs, as much as possible give them natural food as opposed to manufactured food and give the dogs enough exercise, then they don't fall sick frequently ❤❤
Just curious Nikki, why don’t you use your drivers side door instead of stepping over to the back?
I think it's cleaner on her shoes than exciting all the time to access the back.
"Whole Paycheck" :) love it!
Yeah, I giggled at that too.
My wife has always called it that
We have Ridgeback he had patch like a thread bare carpet in the winter found out it was a form off. Alopecia. Because off not much sun. .in the summer it cleared up.
Should you be driving after that Swig of Moonshine, lol.
😂
Let pretend i slept in the camper after picking up dogs from the boyfriends house. Lol. Cute! Love yr videos btw.
Hehe! Thank you! Gotta keep it PC for the kids!
@@NikkiDelventhal the wake up scene is giving “reality tv show wake up after the camera crew gets there and makeup is done”. Haha. Which is honestly what you need next (your own reality show)! We will watch wherever your life takes you. People watch for you, not just because you live in a van.
Love how you catch every moment and put it together while you narrate it. Great content and filming skills! 👍🏻🎥🎬
Please be careful with the anti-freeze I saw on your floor, It has a sweet taste and can be harmful to dogs if ingested.
Thank you for the heads up, I had no idea!
We had a German Shepard pass away from accidentally drinking anti freeze on the garage floor. It is highly toxic and deadly. 😢
I see my home town Sacramento where I grew up and still stuck here 40 years later lol...
❤ GR8 VID ~ LOVED IT ❤
Thank you!
Hi, for bug bites tea tree oil stop some of the itching and helps heal. Get some at the Walgreen, It has cooling itch stop effect. Take Care Debbie
Stay safe.❤
I think it’s absolutely ridiculous to have a dog on your lap when driving! I thought it was illegal?!
I temped for an ophthalmological vet for one week. She removed 2 to 3 eyes a day from numerous dogs whose owners let them ride with their heads out of the car window, because "they LOVE the wind!" These owners shouldn't be allowed to have pets - they are criminally irresponsible.
@@pattijacobs8961what actually causes the eye damage? Is that foreign objects or is it the wind itself ?
@@pattijacobs8961 so sad! 😞
What a Debbie Downer. Looks like Nikki does well on her own, and she already has a mother. I doubt you could do as well as her on the road. Nikki you rock!
At the truck stops in the medicine sections they have sting relief. It works so good for bug bites of any kind. It’s kinda a rub on stick thing.
Hey Nikki, Glad you had an enjoyable adventure with the girls and are back with the boys. Enjoy your videos.
Thanks for sharing!
Aint no way you slept in your van at your boyfriend's house 😂
Sulphur.
I used sulphur successfully applying it topically
Your choice but its not very safe for you, your dog or other drivers to drive with your dog on your lap, hope youll give this some thought.
When I was kid back in the day I rode on my dads lap when he drove! People are too sensitive now
My wife and I spend a lot of our time outdoors.
You are driving dangerous with that dog in your lap plus it against the law
Really? Untie your tidy whities
Remove the stick from your butt
It's just white girl influencer BS anyway.
It’s open to the public
If you can find a vet who knows about NAET (Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique), it can REALLY help with auto immune disorders, allergies, and more.
I kid you not!!!! It is miraculous.
i had a dog that had the exact same thing. i changed the dog food to stuff i bought at the vet and slowley it cleared up..
I so love the small shopping carts so easy to navigate around and I can fill it up perfectly with all we need without over budget
I used to stay away from plastic bottles but if you noticed your grocery cart was full of food wrapped in plastic so I gave up on that. I like to think you can balance the toxins with exercise. Also, I think I might have seen you at Costco once (Miami). Yeah, that was random. Love the channel.
Love your box salad! Good ingredients.
