Great interview. Clearly Oz is a genius, but for him the process is not about himself or what he wants to do. He's there to serve the story and the character. A true Jedi Master.
Such a cool interview and a cool guy! Really neat to hear him emphasize the personal relationships and the human element of interacting with Star Wars fans. So much respect for Frank and his body of work.
I find it interesting that Frank is often described as one of the more serious members of Muppets Inc., yet he performed some of the silliest, most uninhibited characters: Fozzie Bear, Miss Piggy, Cookie Monster, Animal etc.... what a performer!
Love the interview so far. I always found puppetry in movies very interesting and puppet Yoda was by far the best version of Yoda imo. Can't wait for part 2!
Jamie, my Man! Another smashing interview with the people that actually make/made Star Wars. I won't ask how to secure these opportunities to chat to these amazing people, but you constantly surprise me. Great work, as usual.
@@TheGeeknd You're welcome Jamie! I'm busy (as usual haha), but all's going well, and definitely keeping an eye on The Geeknd at all times. Thanks for the wonderful content mate =D
What a pure man of his craft. Seems a great interview. Intresting points on the fan conventions. The level of detail and work put into even the small things is clearly worth it when we see the finished product. Wonder how he feels he could improve of the parts he wasn't as proud of. Good to see a video sponsor!
Very nice! What a treat to hear from Oz and specifically why we dont see him at cons and such. Also this is the first time I actually paid attention and took an interest with the sponsor of someone's video!
That was great! Seems like a real nice guy! You could tell thousands of people asked him to “do the voice” for decades though… I would be pretty annoyed by that as well
I agree with Frank I hate fan conventions for that reason you wouldn’t truly interact with anyone besides other cast members or people you’re already familiar with
James, now you've done it! You made the great and powerful Oz tolerate you =) If he got the whole script, did he also get the true father scene? And that poor monkey. First promised a leading role as Yoda, but lost to Oz, appropriating as a smaller creature. Then the monkey got its lesser role as the Emperors eyes replaced, and is now lost in history. Please find this monkey and bring us its story =)
I'm not sure about the script to be honest but yes, poor monkey indeed! I will do my best to find it and bring it the attention and glory it deserves. Thanks for watching dude, hope you're doing well.
How sweet, it sounds like he considered himself and Jim Henson to be almost a single entity as far as the invite to play the character is concerned. I'm glad someone talked George out of the monkey idea. I guess he was thinking of doing the thing where they feed the animal some paste so it makes numnumnum faces to match a dubbing, how awful that would have been.
Totally on side with Frank. There's a full ❤ to his characters. It's not just a "voice". Fozzie's a desperate goof, trying to be a comedian. Miss Piggy was not a talented performer believing herself to be Streisand and Streep. Full Characters.
Great video! I'm bilingual in Japanese and it's lame how they converted Yoda's speech into Japanese. It's just generic Old Man anime-style dialect, with "da" changed to "ja" and him referring to himself as "washi" which is almost a parody of old man's speech. Totally lame. Incidentally Jar Jar's Japanese speech is normal, but he uses the English words "me!" and "you" to give his speech a similar weirdness in Japanese.
Watch Part 2 of my interview with Frank here > th-cam.com/video/aAn6Mnbf8yA/w-d-xo.html
I most certainly will :)
Frank’s break down of the “reaching for the glass” concept was mind blowing. Seems like such a colossal undertaking!
Thanks for watching, Joe 👍
Great interview. Clearly Oz is a genius, but for him the process is not about himself or what he wants to do. He's there to serve the story and the character. A true Jedi Master.
Thanks, Robert!
I really respect him for refusing to do the voices when he’s not performing the characters. It’s clear how much respect he has for his characters.
Such a cool interview and a cool guy! Really neat to hear him emphasize the personal relationships and the human element of interacting with Star Wars fans. So much respect for Frank and his body of work.
Thank you JC! Frank is definitely a cool guy. Part 2 coming soon…
I find it interesting that Frank is often described as one of the more serious members of Muppets Inc., yet he performed some of the silliest, most uninhibited characters: Fozzie Bear, Miss Piggy, Cookie Monster, Animal etc.... what a performer!
Thank you Frank for everything
Thank you Jamie, this is a great "These Are The Actors You're Looking For" video!!

Awesome interview! Can’t wait for part 2! 🙌
Thanks, Xan! Hope you're keeping well.
What a wonderful man (and interview!)
Thanks for watching, Alan :)
@@TheGeeknd You're welcome!
I waited through this wanting to post how much I prefer the Real thing as opposed to CGI. Nice tagline. Off to pt. 2
Yep Frank made a voice on puppet of master Yoda not the voice, but in the movie he does with the voice master Yoda
Franks sarcasm is awesome. Many people take offence to his humour but I love that he a straight shooter. Lol
Yep, it’s the crowd. It’s me. For me as my favorite CGI Yoda.
Fantastic interview - great work Jamie! =D
Thanks dude :)
Hope you’re keeping well.

Ha! Thanks for watching.

Hey j.j - glad you enjoyed it. Hope you're keeping well.
More to come!
Very nice! What a treat to hear from Oz and specifically why we dont see him at cons and such.

Thanks for watching dude, and even paying attention to the sponsor is most impressive ;)

Awesome interview Jamie
Thanks Lee!
Holy shit you interviewed Frank Oz! Amazing
Incredible interview! Well done sir! I love your channel!

I hope that more people will find this video! How can it have less than a thousand views? Wtf TH-cam?
A great interview and a great man he is!
That he is! Thanks for watching, Luke.
Great interview, thanks Ford share. greetings
You're welcome my friend, thank you for watching :)
Sure you can talk to fans individually at conventions. It’s called signing and a quick chat.
Great interview!
Thank you!
Yoda with the light saber
I like Frank Oz. Strait foward and honest. Say a thing as it is.
Wonderfull, thanks!
You’re very welcome :)

CGI Yoda is smart character and I’m happy
Great interview. He seems like a nice guy.
Cheers dude! He's a really nice guy - he had nothing to gain from this but was very accommodating.
Thanks, Jamie! Thanks, Frank! 🎙 #TheGeeknd #JamieStangroom #FrankOz #StarWars #Yoda

Grover is a Jedi Master
I always think of him as Grover lol
Ok big question how does one get in contact with Frank Oz?
How sweet, it sounds like he considered himself and Jim Henson to be almost a single entity as far as the invite to play the character is concerned.
I'm glad someone talked George out of the monkey idea. I guess he was thinking of doing the thing where they feed the animal some paste so it makes numnumnum faces to match a dubbing, how awful that would have been.
Yep, i'm with you on that - puppets over monkeys!
Would you want me to make you a new profile picture or channel banner?
It’s not Yoda. It’s CGI Yoda.
Totally on side with Frank. There's a full ❤ to his characters. It's not just a "voice". Fozzie's a desperate goof, trying to be a comedian. Miss Piggy was not a talented performer believing herself to be Streisand and Streep. Full Characters.
The breaks are a bit annoying, but otherwise great interview
Thanks for watching, Benjamin!
He looks so weird without his glasses!
👍!
