    Mate... Oh my days...
I've literally just found all these games (buy it now) cheaper on eBay!!... I also factored in postage - do you factor in petrol, parking costs, train tickets?????????
Also, selling to CEX for vouchers is 👌
eBay is cheaper 100% for real money but I don't spend real money, I spend vouchers at CEX.
Yesterday (at the car boot) I bought a mega drive with 2 controllers for £15, Super Mario Land 3D for £1, LOTR Two Towers for 50p and a Boxed Wii for £8. I've since traded in the mega drive for £39 voucher, Mario for £6 voucher, LOTR for £1.40p voucher and sold the Wii for £28 cash - giving me £3.50 cash profit and a £46.40 voucher!!

Sellers don't base their prices off of CEX, they would only search the ebay completed listings and based on condition etc and how quick they want a sale, they will price it.

Generally I find that stuff I've bought on ebay tends to be in much better condition, and I think that's due to the mindset of the people selling stuff on Ebay, who are putting effort into their listings. Simply by it being on ebay, and having effort put into the listing, I can be confident that the game has been looked after well and works well. Opposingly, while I enjoy browsing the shelves of CeX and looking for games that I'd like to collect but don't own, I consider each time I spend there a bit of a gamble, because I know that the original owner, for some reason, decided not to sell on Ebay and instead sell to CeX for way under the market value. That they were happy to just 'get something, anything, for it'. Maybe it's simply a harmless "I don't have the time", but it still remains a question in my head.

Tbh I disagree I’ve been buying video games and comic books for the past twenty years. I’ve mainly bought from eBay for video games the quality is much better, and by far eBay has always been the cheapest. You need to look at the sold listings rather than looking at active listings.
People will chance it and purely list at a 99p auction start price and that’s what I’d be looking at. Since Covid all prices have increased and I’m confident some of the Xbox prices will fall again shortly. I’m just lucky I was buying all these up years ago before all the FOMO.

Sold listings are useless if every active listing on eBay is higher than what they last sold for. Also, every buyer will be going for the cheapest listing on eBay because it's common sense., or they'll pay a bit more for a better condition one. @@CraigSmith-gc6wm I’ve always used sold listings and active listing to gauge prices so I’m not overpaying. Chancers try to increase their prices, a video game or anything for that matter is only worth what someone is willing to pay. You can list £150 all day every day doesn’t mean you’re going to get it. I won’t value my collection that way either. If I’m looking to purchase a game i’ll use the last sold games to get an average, then I look at CEX and active listings on eBay. I won’t overpay for a chancer increasing the prices. I’ll sit it out until a wanted game appears on an auction then use my max bid as the worked out sold averages. I’ve gained 24 years of collecting video games and comics books this way. I’m not saying it’s the right or wrong way. You do what works for you. Point has not been proven. The biggest thing you didnt go to was sold listenings. That gives you a rough fluctuation. I look at the Pokemon yellow I bought two weeks ago, £35 in cex. I paid 25 we with free postage. Donkey Kong 64 I paid 25 for complete in box in eBay. Cex selling the for double that. Same with the Spawn on Snes I paid over a 150 for Just the cart. Cex have it advertised for 65 but it will never appear as someone cant be that stupid to trade in a very rare game like that. I buy a lot from cex and eBay so I have a good understanding. I look at a bundle of PS2 games I bought for 42 with Resident evil 4, Dragonball games and some very good games. All with manuals. If I was to buy from cex, it would've cost nearly £95. I also bought God Hand on PS2 for less than the 75 it goes for on Cex. I still paid about 70 but with free postage.

      Resident evil 1 plat w Manual- £20

Go look up some ps1 stuff

@@cayletalks You are talking about the minority of rare items behind the shelf though. Everything on the store shelf (which isn't PS1 games) that you can walk in and grab is not priced differently with or without a manual.
And I think if you did the video again but only took into consideration 'sold listings' on Ebay, you would find that Ebay is usually cheaper. You have to consider that 100s of people scan Ebay every day and buy all the cheaper listings (or offer less than) below CEX price within a few hours. So there is bias involved with looking only at the more expensive listings that do not sell quickly.

    • @fizakl
      @fizakl 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

Personally I find some decent prices on PS2 in CEX, for example, but more often than not the cover or spine is damaged or the manual is missing. Annoyingly too, people started stealing the manuals from CEX, so CEX now often pack the manual with the disc and give it out when you buy. But it means you don't know if the manual is included or not without asking every time. This applies to the walk-in-and-grab games though, not the selection behind the glass/desk.

As someone who collects from CEX and Ebay for PS1 and PS2 era games. I would say it really depends on the game sometimes, especially for the 'rarer' games. Sometimes, you will find some games for a few quid lesser than the actual ebay selling price. But it's important to note, a lot of CEX sellers who actually sell these games based on how they are listed on Ebay, so there's a lot of cross over between the pricing. It's the same with retro game markets which happen throughout the UK, it's all variable and we do get deals sometimes. I know for the Wild Arms RPGs (great series btw). I noticed that ebay sellers tend overprice the games, while CEX will be slightly cheaper. But, people are never considering the fact, you can actually get those games for a lot less via auctions. Not all the time, but it's generally around that ballpark of the projected selling price.
Also, with CEX, not all games come as CIB, unless we are talking about the ones behind the glass shelves, so it's a real gamble at times, while Ebay can be like that, I tend to have more luck getting certain variants online too. Sometimes, they wouldn't appear at all. I know for Wild Arms 5 which is super rare in the UK. That almost gets no ebay listings for english localisation. Also, I noticed the CEX variants don't tend to be CIB either. So I don't know, it really depends on the game.
I think one thing Ebay really does shine are the retro console bundles, CEX sometimes, people would just sell them literally broken which you can refund, but it's a waste of journey and money.

But when you compare low budget game like 2 3 5£ and ebay have free post its cheaper coz if your local CEX dont have them you have to drive for them or buy delivery which CEX charge 3.50 per item or something like that so when you see 5.50 on Ebay and 2£ cex its pretty much the same price if your local dont have it.

An example of how the sold listing logic is useless to a buyer? My copy of Deadpool has a cex sticker on it that says £30, if you walk in tomorrow you’re paying £62, it doesn’t matter that it previously sold for £30 because that isn’t the price right now.
