Yeah, I've had this feature in my current Ford, Seat and Mazda and, even in the UK, I've used this all the time if my car was parked for a while in the sun during summer.
REMOTE WINDOW OPEN - It's called Comfort Entry and allows you to remotely let the heat out of the cabin on summer days. Also, if you press the lock button, the windows will stop mid point. If you hold the lock button down, the windows close right up.

@Mike C apparently it depends if your car is equipped with anti crush device in the windows. Had one without it previously, my current one has it for front windows (no sunroof unfortunately) easy to check, once you can close windows all the way up from inside with single button pull, you have it, if it doesn't work, you don't have it. Also, according to my Saab guru it could be activated on pre face-lift models with Tech2, was entirely blocked with face-lift.

I am not sure if all of the 9-3s have this, but my 2008 one does have an alarm clock through sid. Pretty nifty feature if you like to sleep in the car. the reason why the sunroof does not open all the way at first has to do with downfall. You will notice when you drive that when you have the sunroof fully open there is a lot of noise from wind downfall. You do not have downfall noise when it is opened almost fully in the first position. Opening the roof fully gives you a better escape in emergency situations (e.g. when you drive into water)
Be extremely careful when using the console cup holder, my daughter spilled her coffee and all the fluid got into the ignition, we had to tow it to the dealership with 1400$ bill
There is a story (on SAAB Central in a thread on Easter Eggs for the OG9-3) about a guy who bought a OG9-3 from a used car dealer. Got it home and sometime after he bought it, decided to check out the front of seat pocket. Found a $100 bill that a previous owner had stashed there and forgot about. Don't know how true the story is. (Listens as people rush out to their recently purchased SAABs to check the front of seat pockets. LOL)
As you said there are a few secrets that are not Saab-exclusive. The pull-out button for left right adjustment of the sound is a feature that has been on radio's since the early days of stereo. It went a bit out of style when the menu steared sound systems became all the fashion. Menu operated change has of course no risc for static noise due to dirty potentio meters but is more or a hassle if you need to adjust often.
You don't see how's that too useful? I spent extra money to install that in a VW a while ago. It's the greatest feature in hot weather! You open the windows and you don't have to get into a 150° oven!
The feature where you hold the unlock button and the 2 front windows roll down as does the sunroof is great if you've parked in the sun, release all that stale, hot air! L♡VE IT! CHEERS FROM OZ
the feature that opens your windows with the keyfob is called "comfort open". I use it all the time during the summer. there's also an option to close the windows with the fob appropriately named "comfort close". sadly that option doesn't work on USDM cars due to the pinch protection.
The comfort down windows feature is handy when the car sits cooking in the parking lot all day. Hit it. Wait about 30 seconds, and all that heat is gone. There are several features programmable, including whether the wipers will do an extra wipe, about 5 seconds afterwards to catch that annoying drip that tries to run down the window....Saab says NOPE, got it.
Another Oddity: I've owned several 9-3's and only recently discovered that the radio turns on with a push even if the key isn't in the ignition. This works on my '06 and '10.
Didn't know about holding the unlock key for a few seconds or the coin holder or the eyebrow button. Thanks!! Haha, you channelled your inner Bill Pahl with the devil's lettuce storage comment
Im planing on turning it off tho. Heard that it wears your locks faster, plus it really annoys me sometimes, i often forget to unlock the doors when someone wants to get out of the car.
Did y’all know that when your cim is going out and your car stop turning you supposed to hold the unlock button for 40 sec while the key is in the on position and it will start! Saved me a lot of money and time.
I just purchased an 2008 saab 9-3 2.0t sport with a manual transmission for $1400.00 one of the main problems that the vehicle is experiencing is the car will not shift into reverse also when I was on the test drive I noticed that I have to start in second and then moving first any insight you can offer would be wonderful otherwise the vehicles in really good shape just a couple of Nicks and scratches on the paint under the hood is wonderful no misfiring no leaks. But I would love to hear back from you about this vehicle
I just got a 2004 Saab 9 3 AVC Turbo convertible and the automatic door lock after you begin to drive works and has always worked since I got the car last week. I am loving your videos as one issue I had was the ambient temp sensor as my display would either show 3 dashes or 140 as the temperature or it would start as 140 and then go to the 3 dashes. and with your video, I was able to purchase the sensor and replace it in less than 15 minutes! I would love to see more of the hidden or lessor-known features of the Saab 93. If you have any information that is regarding the convertible version I would love to hear about it.
Follow me home also turns on your reverse lights. When you activate front windshield spray to clean the windshield the wipers should wipe once more a few seconds after wiping. I love my Automatic heated seats(not sure how they work but they turn on by themselves(requires a certain temperature). and they also turn themselves off(it also turns on or off according to presence of passenger) but not sure what also makes them stay on in much colder weather. What about the screwdrivers that come with the car? Or the hollow blocks on the bottom of the car specifically for your crank jack? There are quite a few features within the SID alone. There is also another thing. They courtesy seatbelt tone at 20mph and when you go around 40 it gives like a 5 beep reminder rather than Toyota's nonstop yelling at you for not wearing the seatbelt.it also tells you when your rear seats are unlatched. I'm also not sure what other cars use heat absorbing glass. The rear cupholders are within reach from the front without the need to pull down the armrest makes it convenient for me to bring drinks to a group. Headrests when down don't obstruct the rear windshield. Not sure if all All saabs had reflective panels(stickers) in the door that are visible when open so other vehicles going by can see you easier. The hood latch directly under the badge and all you need to do is lift up and it all goes together can save minutes from looking for a latch under the hood. I think it was clever. What other car unlocks then relocks the door if it'd already locked? These are the things that I noticed on my 9-3. The comfort open feature has to be programmed via tech II as well. Mine doesn't seem to have it. I heard that There is also some deadlock feature that when you program it, it locks the car and if you were to lock it again it disconnects the keyhole as well as the pins on the door so if someone were to pull up the pin they can't open the door. Sorry if this was a big read
My Aero has what was described to me as an "autobaun" light. It is a set of lamps on the back of the car just inside the brake lights that turn on and stay on with the press of the right-hand fog light button on the left of the steering wheel in a left-side driving car. So, when someone approaches you at 150mph, they can see you.
The reason the sunroof only goes part way back at first is because where is stops you will not get wind noise at speed. If you open it completely you will notice much more wind noise at speed. Jaguars do that too.
Also rolls up windows which is more helpful if you forgot when you get out and forgot to close windows. Only works for front windows and sunroof though
Awesome👍...I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me when my Xenons move!....the center console flip down eluded me as well. I've been reluctant to use it without that cuz I'm afraid of spills on the ignition!
My 06 Aero came stock with the "nicer" headlights but unfortunately dont do the turn thing. I do notice though that when I start my car up at night the lights do an upward motion and then level back out maybe it's just the auto leveling?
Not every Saab has auto windows feature, it needs to be equipped with anti crush device. Some don't have it, easy to find out really, if you don't have auto up windows, you don't have it. Can also pull windows up by holding lock button. If you have folding mirrors, they'll fold then also. Handy.
@@AutoAutopsy according to my Saab guru auto up windows could be activated by Tech2 in pre face-lift 9-3, that was entirely blocked with face-lift. Law suits and all apparently...
You can also make the rear windows go down when holding unlock down with a tech 2 apparently. I use it a lot to let some of the heat “out”. People also go woah when they see it lol
To close the doors automatically at 10mph push and hold the closing button on key and driver’s door at the same time until you hear a beep from dashboard No need tech2
I use the feature of the windows and sunroof opening up when it is hot and you can let the car air out for a few seconds before you jump in. If you dont when you open the door you get blasted with hot air.
@@AutoAutopsy hey, I just ordered the ECM plate kit from the link you provided. That’s about half the price of the same thing that an Australian was marketing and identical!
One more thing I've learnt, not very useful but kind of good to know. If you hold door lock button on the doors while sitting in the car, it activiates car alarm. Even if car is running.
I just bought a 2008 Saab 9-3 2.0T and the E brake (parking brake) don't work. I CAN NOT find the parking brake hardware ANYWHERE. Not auto parts stores nowhere on line. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You do not have downfall noise when it is opened almost fully in the first position. Opening the roof fully gives you a better escape in emergency situations (e.g. when you drive into water)
thanks for the info
Be extremely careful when using the console cup holder, my daughter spilled her coffee and all the fluid got into the ignition, we had to tow it to the dealership with 1400$ bill
yep, that's why I usually don't use it! Yikes :(
There is a story (on SAAB Central in a thread on Easter Eggs for the OG9-3) about a guy who bought a OG9-3 from a used car dealer. Got it home and sometime after he bought it, decided to check out the front of seat pocket. Found a $100 bill that a previous owner had stashed there and forgot about. Don't know how true the story is. (Listens as people rush out to their recently purchased SAABs to check the front of seat pockets. LOL)
lol! I'll have to go double check mine now
I found a 4" tactical knife in mine. Had it 3 years before I found it in there too!
I like that I can program the radio to turn up as I go faster. The roads here are really noisy so it makes a huge difference
You can? Never knew this!
Regarding the storage pockets on the front side of the seats: that's where we swedes store our snuff boxes on longer trips :) Or at least I do!
nice!
As you said there are a few secrets that are not Saab-exclusive. The pull-out button for left right adjustment of the sound is a feature that has been on radio's since the early days of stereo. It went a bit out of style when the menu steared sound systems became all the fashion. Menu operated change has of course no risc for static noise due to dirty potentio meters but is more or a hassle if you need to adjust often.
yep!
You don't see how's that too useful? I spent extra money to install that in a VW a while ago. It's the greatest feature in hot weather! You open the windows and you don't have to get into a 150° oven!
true! i hadn't thought of that at the time of filming but i now use it all the time for this lmao
The feature where you hold the unlock button and the 2 front windows roll down as does the sunroof is great if you've parked in the sun, release all that stale, hot air! L♡VE IT! CHEERS FROM OZ
yep! thanks
7:49 Had no idea the sunroof did that. I use mine constantly and have had it for over 2 years lol
haha!
The coming home functioj was unknow to me for years of owning a saab 93. Thanx 💪
Me too, ahah
the feature that opens your windows with the keyfob is called "comfort open". I use it all the time during the summer. there's also an option to close the windows with the fob appropriately named "comfort close". sadly that option doesn't work on USDM cars due to the pinch protection.
@Mike C really? I Tried to Tech2 it on to my Saab and it didn't work. I'll have to give the battery thing a try!
interesting; thanks for sharing man!
You may be prompted to learn the anti pinch as its required as well for comfort close.
The comfort down windows feature is handy when the car sits cooking in the parking lot all day. Hit it. Wait about 30 seconds, and all that heat is gone.
There are several features programmable, including whether the wipers will do an extra wipe, about 5 seconds afterwards to catch that annoying drip that tries to run down the window....Saab says NOPE, got it.
ah yes...lol
Another Oddity: I've owned several 9-3's and only recently discovered that the radio turns on with a push even if the key isn't in the ignition. This works on my '06 and '10.
Oh true!
Found that out the hard way after shopping and returned to a dead battery cause the kids were inside listening to the radio 🤦🏿♂️
@@CWendel That stinks! Ah, the joy of parenthood. My 17 year old locked up the transmission on his 2006 v6 9-3...$6,880.
Oh no now i will always notice my headlights moving 😂
haha
I will notice what I'm missing
Didn't know about holding the unlock key for a few seconds or the coin holder or the eyebrow button. Thanks!! Haha, you channelled your inner Bill Pahl with the devil's lettuce storage comment
Doors locking at drive off is programmable with a Tech 2. Security access is needed.
yep
Im planing on turning it off tho. Heard that it wears your locks faster, plus it really annoys me sometimes, i often forget to unlock the doors when someone wants to get out of the car.
@@tautvydasser.8894 The lock chests on saab 9-3 are something that yes malfunction and is a common error. Have had a saab 9-3 03 with those problems.
Did y’all know that when your cim is going out and your car stop turning you supposed to hold the unlock button for 40 sec while the key is in the on position and it will start! Saved me a lot of money and time.
never heard of that before!
Yea worked on two of my Saab’s
Got the information deep in the comments on a Saab page. Out of all stuff you’ll would’ve never known
@@B22201
What is ”cim” short for?
When i know ”cim” i might understand ”car stop turning”, you’re talking about the engine?
@@orjanjhmagnusson the CIM is the column interface module, when it starts to die the vehicle either doesn't start or won't security unlock.
7:40
WTF. You just made me go outside at 2 am to try this out...can't believe I missed this before.
😅🤣
“ has erectile disfunction “😭😭😭😭😭 cryinggg
😬😬😬
The window comfort opening is cool on a convertible as it also lowers the roof.
Wow that’s cool. I’d love to see it haha
The ---- Line Button on the remote. If you hold it down, the alarm will sound, like a panic button.
yep!
I noticed on my 08 9-3 u can still adjust ur seats and windows after taking the key off from start until u open the door
Yep!
The window and sunroof thing helps me out all summer when it's a sauna in there 😂
I just purchased an 2008 saab 9-3 2.0t sport with a manual transmission for $1400.00 one of the main problems that the vehicle is experiencing is the car will not shift into reverse also when I was on the test drive I noticed that I have to start in second and then moving first any insight you can offer would be wonderful otherwise the vehicles in really good shape just a couple of Nicks and scratches on the paint under the hood is wonderful no misfiring no leaks. But I would love to hear back from you about this vehicle
i assume you pulled up on the collar on the shifter to go into reverse?
I just got a 2004 Saab 9 3 AVC Turbo convertible and the automatic door lock after you begin to drive works and has always worked since I got the car last week. I am loving your videos as one issue I had was the ambient temp sensor as my display would either show 3 dashes or 140 as the temperature or it would start as 140 and then go to the 3 dashes. and with your video, I was able to purchase the sensor and replace it in less than 15 minutes! I would love to see more of the hidden or lessor-known features of the Saab 93. If you have any information that is regarding the convertible version I would love to hear about it.
happy to help! thanks. not much special about the CV's compared to the sedans
Will you do a Secret/Lesser Known features on the OG 9-5?
I could!!
Great Videos,Many Thanks,Looking Forward To Part 3!
Thank you!
Great video for Saab family - stay blessed💚
😁🙌🏼
Sorry if this was a big read
oh nice, yeah those are all great features. thanks for sharing
Nice
The reason the sunroof only goes part way back at first is because where is stops you will not get wind noise at speed. If you open it completely you will notice much more wind noise at speed. Jaguars do that too.
Got it!
Also rolls up windows which is more helpful if you forgot when you get out and forgot to close windows. Only works for front windows and sunroof though
The small storage compartment next to the passenger seat is for an Saab Aero windshield ice-scraper.
Yes, it’s called a “smart slot” accessory and came with a few different options!
Awesome👍...I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me when my Xenons move!....the center console flip down eluded me as well. I've been reluctant to use it without that cuz I'm afraid of spills on the ignition!
lol@
We dont have carjackers in sweden, thats why it doesnt lock when you drive away 🙂
I have a 2007 93 and that feature that rolls down the window puts the top down if its the convertible which is pretty awesome
nice
9:25 That adjustment is balance. Fade refers to movement from front to rear speakers.
thanks, misspoke
My 06 Aero came stock with the "nicer" headlights but unfortunately dont do the turn thing. I do notice though that when I start my car up at night the lights do an upward motion and then level back out maybe it's just the auto leveling?
Only on 08+ with the upgraded headlights like i said! That sounds like auto leveling, yep!
Not every Saab has auto windows feature, it needs to be equipped with anti crush device. Some don't have it, easy to find out really, if you don't have auto up windows, you don't have it. Can also pull windows up by holding lock button. If you have folding mirrors, they'll fold then also. Handy.
intersting, good to know
@@AutoAutopsy according to my Saab guru auto up windows could be activated by Tech2 in pre face-lift 9-3, that was entirely blocked with face-lift. Law suits and all apparently...
If you hold up lock button on your keys it suppose to close the windows and sunrood but also fold your mirrors.
only in europe do you get the option for the power mirrors unfortunately
You have no idea how helpful the heated mirrors are in a state like Connecticut
i bet!
Agreed!!!!!!!!!
You can also make the rear windows go down when holding unlock down with a tech 2 apparently.
I use it a lot to let some of the heat “out”. People also go woah when they see it lol
lol!
Does American versions come with option to use E85? In Europe some cars are Biopower versions and those can use E85 and petrol.
no, but they can be modified to run e85!
With the opening of the windows if you hold the unlock down if you have a convertible model it also puts the roof down
good one! I believe I mentioned that in the first part, but could be wrong
Thanks iv just got a sabb ……the last. One is Balance not fade. I pull mine out for back or front nice vid
To close the doors automatically at 10mph push and hold the closing button on key and driver’s door at the same time until you hear a beep from dashboard
No need tech2
Or just push the door lock once, lol.
I use the feature of the windows and sunroof opening up when it is hot and you can let the car air out for a few seconds before you jump in. If you dont when you open the door you get blasted with hot air.
true!
In Europe if you put key in and turn door key opposite to open it either opens and closes the windows depending if they are open or closed.
😁👍🏼
I have a 2003 Saab 9 3 convertible, what is that square looking button (flat) between the rear window buttons and arm rest (cup holder) ??
How about auto volume leveling? That’s really cool!
Definitely! Hard to even notice it it’s such a good feature
@@AutoAutopsy hey, I just ordered the ECM plate kit from the link you provided. That’s about half the price of the same thing that an Australian was marketing and identical!
Cool channel...Liked & Subbed
One more thing I've learnt, not very useful but kind of good to know. If you hold door lock button on the doors while sitting in the car, it activiates car alarm. Even if car is running.
Yep haha!
Funny fact when I bought my 93 there was a little devils lettuce and a joint in that same storage spot you showed next to the key lol
lol!
I just bought a 2008 Saab 9-3 2.0T and the E brake (parking brake) don't work. I CAN NOT find the parking brake hardware ANYWHERE. Not auto parts stores nowhere on line. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
auto parts stores done really carry any parts for these cars. I would recommend searching all of the parts sources in this video: th-cam.com/video/ARVbmaQ7Dn8/w-d-xo.html
The problem is that probably the window feature prematurely drains the battery.
In MB you can swap the battery in 30 sec don't remember about the SAAB one.
Thanks I had no idea the sun roof opened all the way thanks
Glad I could help
cool ! yet another ingenious ultra useful feature ' the Unlock / Windows Down Expel Heat ' Voilà previously ignored along with entire , tho pristine , Owners Manual ha! normally pretty damn Hot par for course 'round this neck of the woods too Thanx
:)
My 06 9-3 locks all doors automatically after driving for about 10 sec..... its a very common features for most Japanese, American & European or even Chinese made cars !
It's not extremely common tbh, I have seen it on very few cars, especially from this era
@@AutoAutopsy I can tell you, in that era - after year 2000, ALL Japanese cars have this feature.
the unlock windows down feature activates convertible roof open/ close remotely also
correct
Just like holding the open button puts windows down if you hold the lock button down it will also put windows up close sunroof and fold mirrors in
good tip!
Your 2008 Turbo X...is it a Auto or Stick?¿?¿
Which is preferred and why???
Have a chance to buy a Auto....
I showed the interior a lot during the video...it's stick.
All comes down to personal preference.
That window down feature is on a decent amount of cars now yet people dont know it exists lmao its a heat release mode made to well release all the heat inside the car thats been sitting there in the sun before you enter. Like those reaally hot summer days were you cant even breathe in the car at first its so hot lol.
I WISH EVERY FOOKIN CAR HAD FRONT SEAT POCKETS ITS THE NUMBER ONE THING I ODDLY MISS ABOUT MY 9-3 id always put my phone and keys in their it was so convient not having them in the center or passanger seat and i could easily acess it if needed etc.
Haha you’re right!
Unlock windows down just broke my brain, thank you for this LOL
no problem
If u instead hold the Button on the key that turns on the position lights the alarm system will shout. Noticed it today on my Saab 9-3 SS.
correct!
Hi. You seem to be very good with Saabs. I have a 2007 9-3 and it’s been jerking when I hit the gas fast and it also acts like someone is step on and off the gas when parked. Any suggestions??
misfire. see here: th-cam.com/video/xJyNJzFX2JI/w-d-xo.html
You can change which windows go down when holding the unlock. It is called summer mode, alot of European cars have it.
yep!
The sunroof does not go to all the way to the back to prevent turbulence at speed.. so full opening is just for traffic or city driving.
ah, thanks for the explanation!
Why did I think you sold the 9-5? Great to see you still have it!!!
Yep, still got it...just made a couple of videos with it pretty recently too!
The odl 9-5 belongs to his parents, and they ( the whole family ) are SAAB LOVERS .... me too !
It took me for-EVER to figure out that the trunk pop button was on the door, in front of the door handle, visible only to your brake pedal. I kept having to shut my car off so I could use the key.
lmao, yeah it's a bit hidden
8:08 I have an 06 9-3 Vector 5 door and my doors do not lock after driving a while, however my trunk does. So I always have to unlock it with the button that's on the driver door😅
I've recently bought a 2008 9-3 Combi wagon/estate. I've noticed that when I put it into reverse (with front wipers off and fine weather) the rear wiper sweeps once. I'm still trying to work out if that's a 'secret feature' or a fault!
That's strange! lol i have no idea
Thats not strange at all, practically EVERY station wagon on the market uses that feature, If you stick in in reverse then it clears a wet or dirty window automatically. The wash wipe should work together
Nice vid 👍 my Cadillac BLS dosnt have most of these features but it does have the door lock when u start driving
Nice!
Those bronze rims are the 9-3 are sick
Thanks!
the doors is a tech 2 thing. I could do it in my og93 as well as ng93
and if you also change the driver door switchpack to EU all the windows will drop down rather than the front 2
good to know!
