  • The Annual parade of registered Irish draught stallions at The Dublin Horse show is an important event as it showcases some of the best Irish draught horses in the country. Many famous draught horses have been shown at the show and have won at it. The Irish draught horse is a traditional light draught horse that has been used to produce hunters and showjumpers. Cloverhill and King of diamonds would be the most famous of the Irish draught sires. The irish draught studbook is now closed so a horse has to have a RID sire and RID dam to be eligible for inclusion but before the studbook was closed horses with thoroughbred blood were permitted entry into it. There is a always a lot of debate about performance in Irish Draught horses and how to maximise performance in the breed. There is also the issue of some bloodlines being overused in the breed making it difficult to find bloodlines that are not closely related to the dam you are using. But for now sit back and enjoy the parade of Registered Irish draught sires
