Hey guys, so apparently the English version of the show doesn't give translations whenever Japanese words are shown in the show. The letters on the 12 Kizuki's eyes are also translated. The one here that Tanjiro fights is Lower 5. So it goes from 6 to 1 in terms of power level for the Lower Moons. And then 6 to 1 for the Upper Moons. So this is the 5th weakest but still so strong. It only gets crazier from here. And yeah the Lower Moons are all in a different power range compared to the Upper Moons. So that should tell you what kind of enemies await.
Watching someone finally reach this episode on a reaction channel is the definition of "Yeah, baby! That's what I've been waiting for! That's what it's all about!"
This is the episode that truly put Demon Slayer on the map. Back when this dropped I wasn't really an anime watcher, and even I saw clips of this absolutely everywhere. Everything is done to perfection and the music and animation do all of the heavy lifting to make this the absolute best moment of the season. I think the craziest part is that at this point, with what episodes have come out, it isn't even the best animation the show has to offer.
The entire confrontation from the moment Tanjiro uses the tenth form of water breathing to the end of the chapter is what I'd call a perfect scene. Everything comes together beautifully in a climax that also creates setups that will be important for the entirety of the rest of the series. When I speak about Demon Slayer to others, what I usually say is that it does nothing or precious little that is new. However, it absolutely masters the way of executing the usual tropes in a way that still provokes powerful feelings even if it never really surprises you.
Fun fact: this episode broke the internet back in 2019! It was trending on Twitter for days, it helped the manga sales to the point it briefly outsold One Piece, and became a instant classic moment for anime. Even better the creator herself cried during premier and rewatch the scene 20 more times
If I remember right it outsold One Piece's total yearly sales. But people never think of other factors, like all the new fans of Demon Slayer coming from the anime went back and bought all the previous volumes which helped boost the sales quite a bit. One Piece has been around a while, the anime isn't suddenly drawing in a lot of new readers that will go back and buy tons of volumes to catch up. So most of its yearly sales are existing fans who only buy the newest volumes. That doesn't mean it wasn't a big accomplishment, just not the end of One Piece's reign like quite a few people seemed to believe.

The song that plays during Tanjiro's flashback and the rest of the fight with Rui is called *Kamado Tanjiro no Uta* (Tanjiro's theme). From Tanjiro's pov, it tells us how he can't go back to his old life, and has no other choice but to keep moving forward. Been a minute since i’ve seen the Hinokami Kagura scene, and man, it is just so unbelievably beautiful. I could’ve sworn that rewatching it Id be like “Ok it’s great, but i’ve seen better animation since then” but nope, literally the most amazing scene and those shots at the end are so god damn good. Mind blowing stuff.
3:50 the way i thought that was an innuendo when i watched this episode too 😭 there's no way the writers weren't giggly when they wrote that bc that was so sudden in such a serious episode lmao😭
My personal theory is that Nezuko's Blood Demon Art is not Exploding Blood, but Adaptation. She wasn't allowed to eat humans so she adapted to using sleep to gain energy instead. She wasn't strong enough to kick the tamari balls so she grew stronger with the ability to regrow her limbs at an accelerated rate. She was unable to help her brother when he was about to die, so she fell asleep and adapted the ability to use her blood as a weapon against demons. There are other examples throughout the series, but you get my point.
Just as a point of correction: That being probably a 2D animation of the father doing the fire dance, it's called Rotoscope(ing) when you film someone and then draw the 2D animation over that. Motion capture is when you have someone in a mo-cap suit and an inferred camera captures information of how the points on the suit move, it moves the bones in the 3D model.
The 12 Kizuki are split into 2 parts. Upper and Lower. The Lower 6, of which Rui is number 5, means he ranks 11 overall. So in terms of the 12 strongest demons, he's the second weakest. The Drum demon was the weakest of the 12, to the point he actually got kicked out even. The top 6 are the Upper rank demons. Muzan is in a class all his own, obviously, he's outright massively more powerful than all the 12.
My theory for Nezuko's transformation (as someone who didn't read the manga) is that Muzan turn Nezuko into a demon so she would kill Tangiro when we came back. He probably never thought that it could turn out as it did
Gotta love Rui and his thought process. Rui: The parents protect and take care of the eldest children, and they in turn protect and take care of their younger siblings, even sacrifice their lives if they have to. Also Rui: why are you willing to die for your younger sister? Just give up and walk away so I can have her. Bro, according to your own rules and ideas of what a family should do, Tanjiro literally can't just walk away😂
Reminder that it's not flame or fire breathing, it's Hinokami Kagura. The key difference it's that Hinokami Kagura can generate real actual flames the more heat is in the nichirin sword.
25:55 huh. Interesting take this early on in the show. I had different thoughts at the time but i like that you swung back around to the "why" and didn't tunnel on the "how" like i was doing back then (coming out of attack on titan tinfoil hats)

The reveal of Tanjiro’s TRUE breathing style, the one that he can use most effectively
He even says it himself when fighting Daki
Despite having more practice using Water Breathing, he admits his body isn’t built to use it at its maximum potential like Giyuu
His body is better off using Hinokami Kagura
As for WHAT Hinokami Kagura is, it’s an imitation of the original Sun Breathing technique
Originally taught to Tanjiro’s ancestor Sumiyoshi Kamado by the Sun Breather himself, as well as the only Demon Slayer to ever make Muzan fear for his life, Yoriichi
Since then, the dance was passed down throughout the generations, eventually taught to Tanjiro by his father Tanjuro Kamado
Tanjuro was always sick and frail, yet through his breathing technique, he was able to keep himself going and do the Hinokami Kagura Dance every year, despite the cold mountain air, despite his sickness and frail body, his breathing style allowed him to perform the dance
For a trained warrior body like Tanjiro, a breathing style that grants him great endurance, warms up his body and strengthens his already powerful muscles, that breathing style is GAME CHANGING
Hinokami Kagura may only be an IMITATION, but it is by far the most powerful breathing style used by the Demon Slayers of the Taisho period
Further Animation goes beyond what u just saw .this was just beganing .

Best episode of the season!
ur infos are insane i love it-
Fun fact: ep 7 of every season is the most revealing ep
Hinokami Kagura😍😍🤩........ Loved the reaction as always
Reminder that it's not flame or fire breathing, it's Hinokami Kagura. The key difference it's that Hinokami Kagura can generate real actual flames the more heat is in the nichirin sword.
This is the FUNNIEST one ive ever watched oml
25:55 huh. Interesting take this early on in the show. I had different thoughts at the time but i like that you swung back around to the "why" and didn't tunnel on the "how" like i was doing back then (coming out of attack on titan tinfoil hats)
You don't know animation heaven until you you get to season 2 lol
It hurt when yous kept saying flame/fire 😭
Tanjiro’s father’s name is Tanjuro
