how Dominic Fike projects himself is so simple yet I can tell his mind is very complex, lots of thoughts to create what he has put out to the world. It’s always the quiet ones
I mean yeah the dude was being weird, kind of flirting with the mom at the beginning. Even said “No don’t leave, I need you here, I have more questions for you than Dom” You can tell Dominic felt kind of awkward and down when he said that.
@@KnightsOfAllRealmsi wouldn’t really take that as flirting, but more of like the origins of dominic, aka his mom. his mom would know how dom was as a young age etc
The lyric "When I die, baby, lay me in the sun" really makes sense after this video. His whole energy changed and he seemed so much freer after they went out to the beach after being in the motel
I don’t know much about this interviewer or where he comes from, but the way he was able to get someone as complex as Dom to be so comfortable and upfront like this, really speaks to how great of a person he is, bc Dom is usually very stand-offish and jaded during a lot of his interviews.
sorry i'm 3 months late to this comment, but that's Zane Lowe and he is ABSOLUTELY like that. he creates this safe space for every artist he interviews, and truly is able to read their passions and their comfortability and is able to bounce off of that when asking questions. his interviews are always conversations or therapy sessions and it's so refreshing to see that. he's the best
Someone tell Dominic that it’s okay to want another persons company and fantasize wanting to settle down with a person and that it’s not codependency. He’s human and is wired to want companionship just like all of us are
that’s not what he was talking about though? wanting another person’s company doesn’t = not being able to be /function alone, the latter seeming to be what he feels frustrated about
@@Crad4DRC at the end he says his fantasies and then stops himself and says that it was his codependency speaking again but those are 2 different things, you can want companionship but still struggle with codependency but it doesn’t mean that every time you think about a fantasy or companionship that it’s a bad thing bc again it stems from our natural instinct to bond and socialize

I’m happy he’s sober and looking healthy. When I got sober early this year his music helped me a lot and set the vibes for me in rehab. Super talented guy and still super slept on. ❤
That motel segment 😢 I hope he can start to heal further and start moving forward from his trauma. You can see the pain in his eyes and you could sense it when he was with his mom in the beginning. He deserves happiness.
he's so refreshingly honest, it's kind of jarring at first but I really, really appreciate that about him. it also speaks to Zane being such a great interviewer. been a fan forever, can't wait to hear sunburn and beyond :) world DOMination commencing !!!
Everyone says how good he looks and how he seems happy. I dont get that from him. Watching him I see sadness and angst. The vulnerability is unmatched but I cant help but feel like hes tired of wearing a mask and tired of being what people need him to be. Tired of people always wanting something from him. If music was his therapy, what does it feel like when therapy becomes a job ? How does it feel when the people who love you now need you and depend on you. It cant be easy. I hope that he finds to recovery.
As someone with a troubled past similar to him - this IS happiness. Being comfortable in front of the camera, being able to be vulnerable and talk to another person sober. He’s confident and happier and has overcome so much. Let’s give him that credit. It’s impossible to be 100% happy, especially with wounds like his. The sadness will always be there. But we’re human and we’re supposed to have all these emotions. To not let these emotions control us, but embrace it and work with it IS happiness. Dom is incredibly human, honest and accepting about who he his. I see that as a goal more people should strive for, instead of being emotionless robots .
It is terrible to think people still believe someone's social class is lower than their own because the person is of a different ethnic background or looks a certain way. This interview shows how good of a person Dom is, how money and status have not changed him, and what matters most is love.
What a beautiful duo of people. Seeing Zane maneuver sensitive topics with many artists is heartwarming. He's able to grab the best out of these people with troubling past and bring some level of comfort to them. Allowing them to be vulnerable in his space. Absolutely love these 2
He looks happier and healthier and I’m living for it. The dive into the water and the floating at the end reminds me a lot of myself. I find comfort in the fact that Dom overthinks a lot like me too. Really want to meet and work with him one day.
During a time where most artists are so personality driven almost to the point of playing a character of who they truly are, it’s refreshing to see someone so inspired by music and who genuinely loves the craft and let’s the music speak for itself
this is an absolutely raw and beautiful interview, more artists should be encouraged to fully feel comfortable enough to talk and be themselves with no judgment or shame, but instead met with empathy
watching this is like a therapy to me.
