      @@KillaCsOnAttack It doesn't help their case that that's been their MO for most of the seasons since they joined together in 2017. In some cases, they end up losing to "inferior" opponents.
      I mean, they lost to the 2018 Cavs and the bubble Heat.
      To me, they always seem to let their opponent either build up a huge lead forcing them to come back or they themselves build up a huge lead yet proceed to blow it and make the games look uglier than they need to be.

    • @RealTomahawk7
      @RealTomahawk7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That finals run in 2022 was a prime example of this, they DID sweep the Nets, but it was one of the more ugliest looking sweeps in recent history, had to go to 7 games against a Bucks team without Middleton, and almost lost the conference finals by a literal shot.
      And in 2023, same deal. They allowed the Hawks to steal 2 games when they should've swept them with ease, and it almost went to 7 games. They benefitted from Philly choking in the 2nd round, it also helps when your old head coach is on the other team.
      They could've disproven the narrative against Miami, but it seems they still wanted a challenge, when they should've destroyed them. And would've had they kept up and won at least one of those first 3 games.
      And with the looming super max contract for Tatum combined with Browns contract (which, IMO, they had no better option), I fear that their best chances to secure a title may have passed. I hope for you sake, that's not the case.

Do you even remember who was on the roster for 2018 celtics for those playoffs? the only reason they finished with a high seed was because the east was TRASH, which is why Lebron managed to drag that sorry ass team through the east only to get wrecked in the finals. As a Celtics fan, I don't think that any of the previous struggles have had to do with talent so much as a rotten culture in Boston. Barring the one year with Ime, every season we hear OPPOSING PLAYERS talk about how 'something just seems wrong in Boston'. Notably, free agents also talked about how the culture was bad in Boston and how they don't want to go there. These are the players themselves saying it. The one year with Ime seems like the exception and in that year Boston looked cohesive, played together and for each other and made it to the Finals.
    The whole firing of Ime also is a clear demonstration of the rotten culture and awful ownership in Boston. The guy was a Finals Coach in his FIRST YEAR. Yet they fired him for a consensual but inappropriate relationship (possibly multiple relationships). Ok, that's bad, but it's not like plenty of other players and coaches pull BS like this and keep their jobs. Clearly, it wasn't so egregious that another NBA team wasn't willing to give him an opportunity WITHIN THE YEAR. Moreover, the relationships were all consensual, but the Celtics were fine with throwing Ime out and dragging him through the mud...but they can't say a word about the female involved? If it was consensual, as the organization claims, then the woman is EQUALLY AT FAULT and should be treated the same. If it was not consensual, then the organization is guilty of trying to cover up sexual harassment or rape. This is after the Celtics had an investigation that was so secret that they can't talk about it, but someone in the organization could leak it to the media? Oh, and the star players had to be kept in the dark...they had to find out from the media. The entire situation speaks to a rotten, corrupt culture. If you're a player, do you really want to play for an organization like that? Do you really feel pride representing that organization?
    Add into that how we treat our players and is it any wonder that this team has a rotten culture? Love or hate Smart, the guy played his heart out for years in Boston. He donated his money and time to the local children's hospital. The Celtics told him that he was safe from trade, then less than a week later they trade him. OK, it's a business, got it. But no one from the organization even gave him a call? He found out via text? I've been a leader in the Army and a manager civilian side. If I have to give bad news to an employee, I always at least call but usually try to go face-to-face...even in a difficult talk like a firing. I feel like that's the basic respect that people deserve. You want players to be loyal and play hard for you...but this is how you thank them? If I was Tatum or Brown, I'd stay in Boston for the money...but it's not going to generate the love and loyalty that a great franchise should.

    • @omeravi
      @omeravi ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The organization never claimed it was consensual and the fact that they essentially fired ime kinda proves that the female involved did not give consent/switched her perspective through the relationship. The place you are getting consensual was the first initial report that broke saying that it was, but many have speculated that that was Imes camp and not the Celtics/whistleblower as it came across very positive towards ime. They also hired a legal firm to conduct an investigation. Were there things they could’ve done better, yes namely letting Jayson and jaylen know that they were investigating ime. Does this mean there is a rotten culture in Boston…no. The last time we heard anyone complain about the culture in Boston was 3 years ago now when Blake said someone on the team told him not to sign in Boston and go to the nets, but he signed last season and after that has gone on to say only great things about the culture. Jrich also only had great things to say about Boston and he was only on the team for half a season. I agree with parts of your smart take, should’ve called him at least but I assume that he’s gonna get some stuff in his return that we aren’t expecting like idk if they’re gonna retire his jersey but I wouldnt be surprised if they considered honoring him in some way.

    • @omeravi
      @omeravi ปีที่แล้ว

      Also to add on to my ime rebuttal, as far as we know the Celtics can’t talk about the law firm investigation because of potential lawsuit, and the firing of ime was preventative. I assume that they were given a warning by the employees that were involved saying they were considering a lawsuit which then resulted in a legal probe (you don’t usually do a legal probe without threat of legal action). Also that probe information cannot be released to the public (including other nba teams) from what I understand; but from the whistleblower and actions we know that it was egregious enough for them to essentially fire their finals coach. Also, smart found out over the phone with his agent who called his wife because he wasn’t responding I’m pretty sure he had a face to face with Brad the next day when he went back to the facility, if I remember the story right

  • @andreitaker3527
    @andreitaker3527 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The problem is they play for the celtics. Any other lower tier team would treat having a duo of 25/26 years old that have played more playoff games than some players as a great time, but with the celtics they wouldn't retire your jersey unless you win a chip for them.
