Nice video. I love watching those Phantoms fly around the pattern over Clark. Those were the good old days.

I was stationed here Dec 89 - Dec 90 and gave birth to my 1st child (son) in April 90. I truly enjoyed my tour there. I met and made friends with many of the natives. if it wasn't for me getting married I had planned to extend my tour. six months later the volcano erupted. God knew it was time For me to leave. Clark AB was my favorite tour! I have many fond memories that I talk about today and will always be in my heart. 13th Postal Service, ROCKED!!!!

As a Filipino, i should thank and appreciate all of the efforts that the American forces have done to our country. I wish one day, the U.S military will return here and do just what it done in the old glory days. Long Live the United States of America and the Republic of the Philippines.

I was a gas passer at 13th AF Medical Center, Clark AB from 6/88 to 6/90. PCS'd to Wilford Hall one month before the Baguio earthquake. Went back on manning assistance in 11/90 for a month; the locker room in Surgery had a vertical 3/4 inch crack the length of the wall. Went back again 6-7 months after Pinatubo with some surgeons that had been stationed there with me. Got the tail hook from the ceiling out of the O Club bar. Have beer coasters from when people left drinks as the volcano blew. The houses had 3 feet of grass growing on the roofs from the layer of lahar. The locals stripped everything from the place.
Rei Ev so right. Nothing beats a Phantom F-4 for looking mean.
    Thanks for the memories.
(I married a 'Flip' before medical school and when I was finishing my training with three kids and not sure where I wanted to live, I realized they had a hospital over there so I joined. Greatest two years of my life. Been back to the PI many time.)

"The 1990 Luzon Earthquake", as it is referred to in Wikipedia, references Baguio as among the hardest hit areas. As I remember, Clark had a lot of cracking and major shifts of foundations. As I said, the Hospital had a 2-3 inch crack running somewhat diagonally and up. One of the CRNA's told me he was walking across the parking lot at the shopping center with his hands full of grocery bags when he saw a Volkswagen beetle pop 4 feet into the air by a rolling wave of asphalt headed his way. He said he managed not to drop the bags as he surfed the black wave up and down.
I know an Orthopod who got volunteered into going into one of the collapsed Hotels in Baguio, the Hyatt I think, to dis-articulate a body that was blocking access the local miners and mining students had created to a pregnant woman still alive.
He later told me, "I didn't volunteer. Everybody else stepped back and looked at me."
"I was so scared, my fear meter went all the way around the dial, and then I felt calm."
They gave him The Air Force Cross for that one.

I was stationed there at Clark 75-76, I can't believe the F-4's were still there. In 76 they flew a F-15 to Clark to do a demo flight with a F-4. I figured the F-15 or 16 would of replaced the F-4 by the 90's.

i am just wondering why the Philippine government didn't asked the U.S to lend or perhaps try procure those F-4 Phantom ll combat aircraft for the Armed Forces of the Philippines, during 1992, before the former Clark U.S Air Base has finally signing off, for good during that time, i mean all of those Phantom's are no longer any use in the U.S active service, after its last tour of duty in the 1991 Gulf War in Kuwait. they have been already replace by more advance aircraft, and no longer useful to them except some units that has been turned into an unmanned target drone. those combat aircraft could have been so suitable replacement for the less maintained F-5A/B Freedom Fighters that has been use by the Philippine Air Force, for so many years, yeah indeed such a wasted possible opportunity for the Philippine government in my own point view.
