    When I found your channel in 2019 i was inspired to turn our suburban front yard into a huge cottage garden. I used many of the plants you featured in your videos in the last several years. We planted David Austin roses, phlox, salvia, wandflower, hardy geranium, russian sage, zinnias, bee balm, zexmenia, lantana, foxglove and more. Lots of bees, hummingbirds and butterflies. Everyone that walks or rides by on their bike absolutely adores it. We get compliments every time we are out there. We are happy to bring joy to people! And now we see a few other gardens getting started in our neighborhood.
    Thank you Shae, for inspiring us!

      I have also been inspired by shaye's gardening! I started with a very small backyard potager and now am slowly moving into the front. started with a pollinator flower bed out front but next year I'm planning to add more next year. two toddlers and another on the way means I have to go slow but I'll get there eventually :)

      @@bethburleson6684 we did ours piece by piece as well! Over three years and we are still adding ( plus we have gardens in our backyard as well. We used the no dig method and just expanded each year. My husband put in a flagstone path from the front driveway down to the mailbox, so now I can pretend Im walking in my country garden with tall waving flowers on each side when I go get the mail. 😂My husband has a stressful job and he loves it, its very relaxing for him when he gets home.

    This is the kind of content that I would love to see more of from you. Not trying to be the expert or know it all like some do but just you being authentic and sharing something you love. I loathe videos where it is obvious that a person is trying to "build their brand". The reason I watch you is because you love the same beautiful things that I love. I'm 61 years old and probably nailed my first vintage copper mold to my kitchen wall either before you were born or sometime before. It was 1982 and my husbands grandma gave me one of hers that she didn't want anymore. Because I commented on a new one I saw the Jones Store at the mall as we pushed my first born around in his stroller and she was thrilled that I wanted one. Of course I went back to the mall and bought the shiny new one too. Of course! And the copper mold collection was born. About the same time as my first cottage garden was also born. Did I know it was a cottage garden or a potage? No. I just loved the look of the stone walls in the Beatrix Potter books that I read to our babies every night and we had access to free rocks so we spent the summer collecting rocks and building a rock walled veggie patch. With flowers in it. Just because. It was pretty. So please just be you more often. It's delightful. Don't worry about your brand or number of views. Just be you.

      I think Shaye is always being herself, whether it's more informal like this video or more polished like others. I appreciate all facets. Takes lots of effort to film and to share and to get your passion across to so many different types of people.

    • @jeanieh9386
      @jeanieh9386 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I am sure her brand and number of views is forefront as this is a part of how she makes a living. 🤷‍♀️ I understand what you are saying though.

    • @meh5069
      @meh5069 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe she is always herself… just as you were once her age and collected your copper wall, build your cottage garden etc. her knowing those terms doesn’t make her any less herself for loving them. She’s where you were, and hopefully will get to grow older and be where you are.

    That was just the pace I needed this morning as an introvert recovering from a grad party last night. And the motivation I needed to get outside and get our gardens watered. We have a similar style of gardens here wrapping around our home and having spaces set apart for different purposes with English influence and roses. Just lovely to enjoy with you Shaye

    Beautiful. Love that your property and all the gardens are not fussy...they all have their own place, composition and variety that play well with each other. Actually this is your personality!!!. And what I love most is your carefree, laidback.personality. warm, unhurried soft-spoken voice, tone and delivery of what you have created. Bravo!!! Do not who you are and what you're all doing!

I loved our visits there in Omak, and the lovely drive from Spokane, or the occasional springtime/summer drive from Bellingham, along Route 20 through the North Cascades - just breathtaking!!! Thanks for sharing your videos. Best! 😊💚

    I'm a huge fan of the cottage garden for a smaller front garden concept. I'm planning on building houses with Porches, and it's really to have a porch and have a nice garden with a bird bath, perhaps a knot garden with some herbs, and plants which are indigenous, and my plan is to give people their choice of a lawn or a swiming pool in the back yard. I think every back yard ought to have a chicken coop, raised beds and enough lawn for kids to run in the grass.
    You garden reminds me of peace serenity! The wood chips are also soft on the feet. When we present what you have created for yourself to market for people who want this lifestyle a little less labor intensive and the home to be very turn key, we'll include a fieldhand employee to maintain the gardens for the new estate owners.

    Beautiful garden, Shaye, and it's lovely to hear the birds sing. I am in the second summer of building new gardens on my homestead. It does take time to make garden dreams come to life. My fruit trees are doing well, and I am planting perennial flowering bushes and roses, which will take time to get established. Seeing your garden fills my heart with joy for what is yet to come. Thanks for the inspiration.❤

    Here in Kentucky virginia creeper is so invasive. It kills/chokes out trees and gardens. It looks so beautiful and peaceful against your house. Roses are also hard to grow here, they're prone to lots of disease and Japanese beetles. Some ppl push through and spray lots, but if you're doing organic gardening, it can be tough. I love seeing yours!
    Really enjoy hearing your take on pea gravel vs. mulch. I need to do some coverage in my new potager garden and I'm gonna go with mulch. :) Looks beautiful in your garden and very natural. Everything looks delightful, Shaye!

The quality of the plants are so much better than any we have bout the last 16 or so years, so I just ordered 4 more bush roses from David Austin. Hoping they are as beautiful as advertised. Love what you have done with your gardens, very beautiful.

    Love you and your gardens! I cringed at the Virginia Creeper, though…it is my nemesis. PSA- It causes a reaction like poison ivy in some people (myself included). I’d hate for someone to plant it in their garden then have a reaction! It’s crazy invasive where I am (southeastern VA) and I can’t get rid of it. Thank you so much for all of your content & sharing your life, gardens & home with us!

      Never heard of it causing a poison ivy reaction, but it is super aggressive. I always laugh when someone on the west coast is saying how much they love it in their garden. At least honeysuckle has flowers.

      I cringed, too! I just got over a three week stent of blisters and itching from pulling up some Virginia Creeper. I call it the Devils weed. It made me so nauseous the day that it started breaking out all down my arm, then the bumps turned into huge blisters and the itching from them is nonstop. It's got me a little scared to do any kind of weeding now, 😳.
