    Marty killed it on this tour, in a club, probably less than 200 people there. At $20 a ticket it's hard to believe he's made this tour and the last tour happen. Seems like he's giving us a gift, with these chances to see him.

    • @nethbt
      @nethbt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I would say 20 to 30 percent of your tone comes from your hands (subjective quantification)...the way you do subtle harmonics, palm mute and your general pick attack all contributes to your tone, but there's not much you can do with a shit rig

    • @kellc1347
      @kellc1347 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nethbt pick attack, use of harmonics and all the subtleties of human playing is still just style and skill not tone. Tone comes from the overall equipment and rig and only that. No matter how hard you press the strings or hard you pick or hard your vibrato is you will never get clean channel suddenly scream like a JCM 800 with a tube screamer. I get what ur saying that how we play influences the varied sounds on a rig. A finger picker versus a picking riff chugging brute will sound differently on the same rig but that isn't tone again it's style. If you use the same rig as Zakk Wylde and practice your ass off to mimic his style you will sound like Zakk. You switch to a vox clean amp with same style ......different tone.

      Look at Friedman's age... Kiss is the "hero band" of every pre-adolescent of the mid 70s. Yeah, they kind of were/are/will be a second-rate rock band, but it was all about the image, hype, and the entertainment at the time.

    Strange to think Marty's tech is the one breaking down the video. Marty always seemed like a down-to-earth guy who doesn't mind getting involved, but he's also been very upfront about his cluelessness regarding gear so he probably delegated it to his tech so that the guitar nerds who would click this video (like myself) would get more out of it.
    ...I'm not sure if that was the right call, though... this guy is painful to listen to.

    Marty is a legend on guitar...but he is literally clueless about gear. He isn't even a Gear Apprentice let alone a Gear Master. He is also not a Spelling Master cause he spelt rhythm wrong. Ohh Marty, you're definitely not from around here.

      Dead serious. I LOVE his playing and writing...he got me to appreciate every note, but he is lost about gear.

      @@rickfeith6372 gear doesn't matter much if you can play. =p

      Yes and no, playing ability is everything, but you gotta use decent gear correctly to get a good sound...its just funny because literally every other iconic player is a gear junkie.

      @@rickfeith6372 idk if i would say that, satch has said on a few occasions to stop focusing on gear, he says something along the lines of, What really gets remembered is the feeling that you put into your music....or something simliar to that, (don't exact quote me here because I don't remember exact what he said but I got the point) too many people obess over gear IMO and its a breath of fresh air IMO to see Marty not be obessive. He's even said he doesn't need a particular guitar, or this or that, he can rock with any. Translation Marty is a badass. EDIT: that being said IDK if he really does obess over gear, maybe he rig is well thought out.......gear is a very subjective thing......apples and oranges, like mom used to always says.......... "Different floats for different boats" Like dad always used to say......"Opinions are like a$$holes....everyone has one and uses it daily." (yep he really used to say that)
