      I know right? I think this is some kind of small boutique company that only make pedal when someone request it. I only got one information on Japanese shop. www.soundhouse.co.jp/en/search/index?i_type=a&search_all=beyond+Tube+Preamp&rwordb=y

    Cool pedal but it sounds like a really subtle compressor to me not a preamp. Maybe tube compression is the mojo we all seek.

    • @claudevieaul1465
      @claudevieaul1465 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's exactly what a tube does: compression is a huge part of what we experience as "warmth".

    talkin bout the pre-amp,
    OMG, when you first start with the level at min, it boosted everything so cleanly with a beautiful tone, excellent!!!!
    Finally a video with fantastic tone to begin with, then check the pedal on and off, great job wow
    Your playing is immaculate of course, thanks for this
    Obviously you know how to setup the gain of your recording interface, no static'y crackles like 90% of youtub vids

  • @tastybaconsensation
    @tastybaconsensation 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    They come with 12au7s for the general "clean tube sound" but if you wanna make em scream, 12ax7's use the same pin pattern and will slide right in. I recommend the sovtek high bass or the high gain 12ax7

    I have an ART MPA II in my signal chain. I record all of my DI trax through it. I also use it on overheads an vocals sometimes. I hot rodded it with Dr.Js. it makes a difference. A very noticeable difference. No one likes it dry...use a tube preamp. On the art preamp there is a knob for microphone impedance as well. This allows you to look up the impedance of the microphone that you have hooked to the unit, and dial that in. This makes a huge difference as well. Most audio interfaces are set to a maximum impedance so that all microphones are acceptable. But when you dial in the impedance for a particular microphone and give it some tube preamp it sounds completely different than just plugging into the front of your interface. I have a fairly cheap art tube compressor that has an auto setting on it and it makes a huge difference as well. The recorded signal is being controlled way better than trying to do it later in the DAW. Love the videos. Peace out!

    Awesome video, Trey! For the sake of transparency and in being objective, I'd love to see you get a hold of a Behringer Vintage Tube Monster VT999 and slap a 12AU7 in it and do the same test. That unit is more than half the price, thus us poor buggers out there would love to see how it compares!

    On the Pre-Amp, I thought the EQ adjustments translated authentically into intuitive useable responses, with the maxed-out effects tipping into the spirt of rock-n-roll rebelliousness, and boundary-pushing edginess. In addition, increasing the tube parameter produced an audibly characteristic and desirable “tubey” effect. I liked it, and thought it noticeably improved the digital signal.

Avatar 4x12 with 2 v30's - 2 G12T75's. My setup sounds great, but I've always wondered if there is a way to add a "Tube Feel" to my sound since my setup is pedals into a solid state amp. Thanks

    Could you demonstrate just using the buffer (boosted) to enhance the tone of amp Sims? I currently do that with my Ibanez & Maxon overdrives (just by leaving them off) but wondered if the tube with a boost knob makes a big difference. Seems like it does for those cleans. Also, what is the effect of using the buffer into the preamp? Because it seems like this is what he’s selling us on is that we need both;)
