I googled “how to use power tools “and got to you ! Thank goodness! There is such a need for single women ( I’m alone but a homeowner ) to know how to use power tools ( like a mini chain saw for bushes etc! ) I’m 59 and like you were SO SCARED I WOULD HURT MYSELF OR MESS UP!! Thank you for giving confidence ! Consider doing a “ how to use power tools ( a different one each week) for women!¡ I’d love to learn which tool is best for a smaller person to handle etc ,
This is brilliant advice. I'm currently studying Product and furniture design at university in my final year. For my dissertation I'm focusing my research on the phycology in power tools and the fears in DIY. My aim is to design a starter set of tools with GOOD tutorial manuals to explain how to use the tool as a beginner DIY user. I was wondering
Oh my gosh how cool!! That’s actually fascinating- what an amazing thing to study and those tools sound AMAZING! Just like what I wish I had when I was first starting
DIY BIG, thank you so much for this video. I, like you, have been doing projects my whole life yet major power tools (saws) scare me to death. Just watching this video I feel confident to learn
This such good advice - so many people are just scared to pick up what are perceived to be really scary! However, as you say, it's all about knowledge, practice and confidence...and this has just inspired me to take a new project! WOuld love a video on what's in your basic toolkit!
I am a huge fan of your podcast! Never have I ever been interested in power tools-not until I started following along and dreaming of the possibilities as you’ve posted and educated me! Thanks for this quality content!
That seriously makes me SO happy!! 😊 They sound so scary but once you embrace it as a learning process all the options open up! I love that I can make almost anything I dream up for my house! 🙌 So glad you’re loving the podcast! 💖
Great video Cara! Love hearing your story! We are in a new home in MI and adding a bit of our own functionality and flair! My husband has learned a lot from his dad growing up, but I'm learning from him, and what's great is you and others on Instagram are actually also giving me things to teach him! It's a win win over here! Keep the great content coming!! :-)
AH! This all makes me so so excited! 💖I love that you're both embracing the journey and the learning process - its totally worth it. And even more fun that you get to do it together! 🙌 I can't wait to see some of the projects you're tackling and how they turn out 😊
I so love your channnel!!! Thank you for all your helpful videos. I don't have a DIY buddy but slowly I've been trying to get over my fears of power tools. Like your other viewers I too live in Houston and YES, its an extremely big city!!! Hope to run into you some day!!! You're an inspiration!!!
THANK YOU! SO happy you're tuning in! haha it totally is so big! I'm hoping to be able to host more in-person workshops once things get back to normal so hopefully I'll have one near you and we can connect! Happy DIY-ing ;)
I partly disagree about the confidence, because eventhough it's important, being overconfident is worse than not being confident at all. I'm saying that, because I started using my father's tools when I was 13 every time both my parents weren't at home, and some of them were the circular saw, the angle grinders and the welding machine, which caused me a second degree burn on my left hand. For me, the most important thing is danger awareness, and that's why people under the age of 16 shouldn't even stare at them
Super excited for this video!!!! I’m in Houston! I wish u were in my neighborhood! We could be friends! I heard you on the podcast the other day! Love your content and your channel!
Ah! You're so close 🙌 I'm new to houston and realizing how BIG it actually is lol 🙈 and so glad you're tuning in!! I so appreciate the kind words and I hope you're finding some inspo 💖
