BMW F650 Funduro Problem with Carb.

I had nothing but problems with my carbs on my BMW F650 Funduro 1996 model. I ordered a repair kit that came with jets, o-rings and gaskets but since adding it all nothing but problems.
Eventually decided to strip it all back again and take a good look. Found out that these kits you can buy are rubbish. Different sized jets than originals and I even ordered another that arrived the same, different sizes and not consistent at all. My advice don't buy a cheap one!
In this video I show how to remove the tank and panels etc, plus removing and replacing the carbs. The bike now runs fine again :-)

Not having a garage, I also have to work in an old barn. Not ideal, but better than working outside. Fwiw, I just purchased a non running 1997 f650 and will pulling the carbs soon.

It’s a lot cleaner than the turd infested barn I have to work on my bikes in. And the critters (woodchucks and squirrels) will chew on the rubber stuff. Ugh. But like another commenter said, it’s better than working outside…

Finally I found out, which float mount in which carb - I spoke about the jet in the plastic float funnel. Thank you!

Thanks for the video. You are a good mechanic. You don't clean the carburettors with ultrasounds and you don't do the synchronization with a special tool ? It is not necessary !

If you have an ultrasonic cleaner then yes do it! For balancing the carbs I just listen and ride until I’m happy.

Wooowww. I got lost in that carburetor with ya, mate. Motorcycle bliss. My 99 f650 is still going strong, but she's lately been chugging a bit at lower rpms. I know its time to get down to that carb. Thanks for the excellent video.

Thanks for the movie. Wondered what is correct position of this short cable with a spring that opposes the throtle cable at the left side of carburetor. I have turned it one way and the other and don't know how it should sit now.

Check to see if your carb is overflowing when you leave the fuel tap on. If yes then the floats are not working as they should.

What value is your idle set at? it should be about 1200 revs

I did 3 turns out. You can get to it once it's fitted back in if you hold your tongue in the right place!
