Amazing vid. It's so fascinating to watch an old school bike restore. By the way looks like the average components quality was much better back in the day. Can't wait for the next steps.
Magic Mike seeing there are so many small parts in this video - phone up a few local dentists and ask if they got any too old to use tooth examing tools - they are great at getting plastic and rubber rings/gaskets out of tight places and lots of time you can pick them up for free
I road one of these for several years and they are great motorcycles. Much less vibration then the KLR650 I had before the BMW. I believe I raised the needles one grove to richen up the mixture and it ran much better. Good video.
The machinists that make things like those feeler gauges are amazing. How they can make things so accurately and did so long before computers played any part in the job is to me incredible
My 4bbl 4350 "motorcrap" had 1 and 3/4 turns on the passenger side and 2 and 3/4 on the drivers side. I put a vacuum guage on and then adjusted and found they should have been about the same so maybe my mechanic forgot after the overhaul kit.

There are so many little parts on that carb. I believe I would have took lots of pictures for reference on assembly. Good job.

I am surprised that the valve clearance spec is the same for intake and exhaust.
Nice. Just one suggestion, I prefer no background music, I find it distracting.
my my my my my my............ how meny times you need to say my? good video tho 🙂
Yes, I was thinking that, very proprietorial!
❤️👍❤️
Interesting how a valve shim can be too 'tight' after several thousand miles - I wonder what has gone wrong - and how long has it been this way?
As the valve and valve seat wear the the valve clearances get tighter. Normal wear.
