Mato, I have to say, I really love the consistency of your phrasing. You speak the same language in every video, using the same words and phrases over and over, and those words and phrases are slowly getting drummed into my thick skull. Sometimes I even know what you are going to say next, my lips move all by themselves! In my opinion you are the best teacher ever. Thank you so much for all your work, every new video from you is a bright spot in my day :-)
Keres has a very solid sense of attack. I've noticed that most of his games he has the initiative when the players reach the middle game. And then, may the force be with him...
+le lisboa And when you can follow Keres, you're ready for Alekhine! I think he had the best synthesis of strategic and tactical play of anyone, with the possible(?) exception of Kasparov. And keep in mind that even "bad"Tal was very good at playing strategically, accumulating small advantages. See his 12th game against Botvinnik, 1960, which he simply outplayed M.B. and won in fine "strategic" style.
Mato sir , you are really doing good job by bringing such great games . i as a chess player have benifeted a lot from your instructional videos .. just keep your good work .. greetings from India
So. There are me and a dozen other people sitting at their computers around the world every day waiting for Mato to post his new game analysis. Reminds of Henry V's St. Crispin's Day speech, "We happy few".
Someone recently commented : avoid the Sicilian against Keres. Benko played the standard line 10,12 moves deep and Keres ate it up. Nothing new was offered by Pal and In a way ending up a pall bearer to his own funeral.
In the Najdorf, does Black have a more promising way of meeting the variation with the White Bishops on c4 and g5? That placement seems unbelievably aggressive.
I think 20. Rg2 could be considered. Then after 20...e5 (to prevent 21. Qf4, winning the bishop), 21. Nd5, followed by Ne7 forking the king and rook, or if Qd7, Nf6+ which also looks pretty grim for black.
+MatoJelic Fischer? Oh, darn! ;) I was hoping for Nezhmetdinov, Alekhine, Kotov, maybe Bronstein. Oh well, that Fischer dude was "pretty good." I guess I'll watch. :)
For some reason, my chess performance keeps going up and down, 3 days ago I reached 1200 ELO, now I'm at 1170 again. Is this common? And why is this happening and what should I do to stop it?
+The QueensConquerer You say that like there is a huge difference between 1200 and 1170 lol. You should be worried if one day you are at 1500 and the next at 1100 otherwise it means nothing...
+Blastoise Loves You I think Rf1 would have worked as well. I also thought that would be the move. The Bishop has to move, white is attacking it twice with the rook and the queen. Both moves would lead to victory.
I am not a great player, but usually I don't like to play the sicilian deffense. Also here in Mato's channel, usually I see that players loose witg sicilian. Is very passive and deffensive. But again, I am not a good player. I heard that Kasparov did more than 500 variations of the sicilian. Maybe he knows some secret :-)
+ApplicationBot Every time when I show Keres I show his opponent too. Opponents like: Tal, Spassky Korchnoi etc. I make Keres videos for my own pleasure. Those people who don't like Keres can join us in March for a new playlist.
+MatoJelic Before you started the Paul Keres video series, I have never heard of him. You honour him with these videos and thank you that I know about him and his amazing games now.
mato please upload more fischer games. i think their play style is similar: accurate attack with no wasted moves and extreme comprehension in piece positioning. however fischer is better in combination variations and i think his moves are deeper than keres. Many GMs had hard time played against fischer because his moves (mostly in the opening) were firstly considered "nonsense" or even "weak" but later turns out that the move makes fischer's attack unstoppable. maybe its because fischer have great knowledge about unpopular continuations, i dont know. i have watched fischer's videos in your channel but i just want more heheheh
Keres was an extremely fine player. I like watching his games again and again.
I love the keres games! They are FANTASTIC!

+passengerplanetearth Thank you for your comment

+le lisboa Keres is by far better role model the Tal. You will learn more from him than from Tal's games
+le lisboa

+geonerd I'll definitely check out the game and your advice on Alekhine next... Thanks!
+le lisboa See if you can find Tal's enjoyable, often informative book on the 1960 match. He writes splendidly!
+geonerd Oh... never thought he had written a book, I'll check this too. Thanks again. ;-)
Great video, Mato! I actually had the pleasure of meeting Pal Benko in real life. He is a nice, and funny guy. He even signed one of my Chess boards.
I'm a simple man, I see Mato's video, I press like
Thanks Mato, keep doing a great job ! Hopefully you are rewarded accordingly to your effort!
i love your paul keres videos, you can see his style in other grandmasters like tal
Paul Keres is another all time Great player..very precise, focussed & clinical in his attack combinations..
Mato sir , you are really doing good job by bringing such great games . i as a chess player have benifeted a lot from your instructional videos .. just keep your good work .. greetings from India

The diaspora.
Tal, keres, Fischer have the coolest games
Someone recently commented : avoid the Sicilian against Keres. Benko played the standard line 10,12 moves deep and Keres ate it up. Nothing new was offered by Pal and In a way ending up a pall bearer to his own funeral.
never stop uploading videos

Great game. cheers Mato

Why didn't the black play instead of that bishop to b5 just e5? Wouldn't that solve the problem with the rook on h4 or h3?
precise attack, that´s what it takes. so many promising attacks I srewed into painful loss.
what do you think about this game ?
- I think that Keres is better than many world champions
Dear Mato, could you make a video of the game Paul Keres vs Magnus Carlsen?
Just, kidding.
Mato, are you on chess.com? Someone with your name is on there.
Mr.Mato, which player is next on your list after Keres.
+Habib Pasha Fisher is next and than Nigel Short. That is in March-this year of course.
+MatoJelic
Fischer? Oh, darn! ;)
I was hoping for Nezhmetdinov, Alekhine, Kotov, maybe Bronstein.
Oh well, that Fischer dude was "pretty good." I guess I'll watch.
:)
+Habib Pasha Oh man, Alekhine would be great
I was expecting Benko Gambit !!
Mato, games of capablanca, please!!

+The QueensConquerer Stop playing for a while.
+Locutus D'Borg Why?
+The QueensConquerer You say that like there is a huge difference between 1200 and 1170 lol. You should be worried if one day you are at 1500 and the next at 1100 otherwise it means nothing...
+The QueensConquerer If you're stupid this is for a long period of time. Just kidding
+The QueensConquerer You learn from the loses, not from the winning. Analyse them and you will be much better.
Was knight to g3 a good move too?
+Blastoise Loves You I think Rf1 would have worked as well. I also thought that would be the move. The Bishop has to move, white is attacking it twice with the rook and the queen. Both moves would lead to victory.
+RIccardo Plati Looks weak to me. Aftre BxN RxB Qd8 is possible. Maybe it's still winning, but Keres move was much stronger.
+Blastoise Loves You Rf1 is also winning.
Mato, what's your favorite drink?
+Keyboard Karl Water

What do you play agaist e4 instead? e5 is even more passive, d5 is gonna force u to bring ur queen out and waste a move after knight c3
+Jason Sultana I always play e5. But again, my ranking is around 1600. I really enjoy to see the sicilian but I can't use it properly.
I love your work and I like Paul Keres but are we going to see anybody else but him? 😂
+ApplicationBot Every time when I show Keres I show his opponent too. Opponents like: Tal, Spassky Korchnoi etc.

Yeah; his opponents. LOL!
Good video
if you didn't know keres a month ago... now u do.
great attack
First!!!!
Now to watch the video : )
why are u always whispering mato?
+iMPuLs3_xSubZero he likes to pleasure our ears while educating us in chess.
+iMPuLs3_xSubZero he is mysterious.
+iMPuLs3_xSubZero ...he picked up the accent while he lived in Transylvania for a few hundred years !

Plays like Morphy
👍👍
g6 was big mistake or blunder...
Yeh it was, but I think he was trying to stop qh5 or the pawn from pushing.
my move was rook f1
+genti Yeah thought about that too, the one in the game is just faster
Benko lost cause he studied gambits too much :)
Your tribute for Keres is too long Mato ! I hope you won't dedicate each month to a specific player.
+BAD MAN I make the videos for my own pleasure. Other people are welcome to watch it, but if they don't like it is OK with me
