These are a peacetime vessel. So should be with Border Force. No defence hardware (vessels or vehicles) should be defenceless against drones, UAV’s etc. These are essentially defenceless in the modern era.
@@0Zolrender0 Australia got the Baseline version when we needed the Security Version of this ship, which has a 40mm main gun, 2 x 30mm remote weapons stations, a decoy launching system, an air defence missile system, and anti-drone warfare systems.
The last statement of this video is "to fight & win at sea" ..... How the fuck can they do that without any meaningful weapons loadout ? I get angry every time I see something about these patrol boats and the big brother OPV's that are equally useless.
It's a 400 tonne 58 metre long boat with an official top speed of 25 knots and officially only 2 50-cal machine guns. That looks like a lot of spare room for a boat that size. For comparison, Armidale class patrol boats were only 300t. I suspect potential modifications aren't public, but any nearby friendly warship or F-35 might really like a relatively disposable boat with active radars and sonars on full, while the real warship remains effectively silent - unless enemy turn on active sensors within easykill range.
Armafail Class 2.0, lets give a shipbuilder the equivalent to another country's deficit, to deliver a product that was not capable of deployment capabilities, risked the lives of service personel, some of whom still suffer to this day. Austal should be referred to the National Corruption watchdog and stripped of further Defence tenders and contracts. Long live the Fremantle Class Patrol Boat, and all who sailed upon them.
so true mate, using cheap aluminum instead of steel, the USN LCS made by Austal should be an example as to why they shouldn't be in the shipbuilding game
@@peterryan4851 Yep, lets hope they can get a radio message out before they are sunk because they are to slow to run away and have no serious defensive capabilities.

No armament? The RAN needs to have every patrol boat armed. The RAN as a whole needs to increase shipboard firepower.
They have two .50" machine guns each side of bridge
@@chrismitchell4622 thats a joke.

It's an ADV and will probably loaned to the border force. The RAN uses Armidales which have a much better armament etc.

What gibberish, especially the "God Bless you all" comment
A fishing boat for sailors to operate in the tropics, only good against type I and II fishing vessels.
These vessels have no weapon? What good are patrol boat with no weapons?
Two .50" Machine guns!
and take on something, when a .303" would go from port to starboard?

Immature twaddle.
