    Australia will spend $764 billion on military over the next decade. To protect an entire continent, aid in maintaining world peace and developing advanced industries, (while spending less than 5% of GDP) is a good deal for Australia and the world. Go Australia 🇦🇺 ❤

      .764 trillion dollars is a lot of money! Australia is currently going through a housing crisis. The elitists continue to use the wealth of working people to play their primitive power games. The working people of the world would live in peace if not for these archaic people!

      Australia has the largest Debt since the 1950’s because we have lost our traditional Trade Partners - of course the US could not care less about that.

    • @zakariwalker7477
      @zakariwalker7477 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @dnickaroo3574 I don't know what stat you read but Australia does not have the largest debt since the 1950s, America has over 35 trillion in debt and we have about 1.5 trillion in debt as of 2024, we have actually extremely low debt in comparison to most other western countries. Trade partners change a lot but for the most part they are usually more fruitful when you within the same region, using our "traditional trade partners" would only cripple us both short term and long term.

      Most of the technology that is going into them is not developed yet. Australia is building the most advanced drone/AI submarine in the world. America and England both want in on the tech. The 2040 subs will be the next gen subs and as well as having current weapons, they will more than likely be a 6th gen fighter jet. 6th gen fighter jets will have a complement of drones flying with them like Australia's Ghost Bat (MQ-28A). The new subs will most likely have forward scout drones for detecting targets out of range and relaying information to the new subs, decoy subs, and work as a command center to direct and control them all.
      So yes it would be nice to have subs in the very close future and maybe it will happen. But the next gen subs will be so so much more effective than anything we've seen before. They will effectively be their own fleet.

    • @warren7565
      @warren7565 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The drone we have built is stealth. Can charge its batteries from under water currents. Stay under water for years at a time. We could park one on the bottom of the ocean on China's doorstep and it could sit there for a year undetected. Then spring into action if China starts shit. They have also developed a top secret way to communicate with it not needing to go near the surface.

    Interesting to see a Taiwan perspective. I think I would explain the background to our defence strategy a little differently and note that the "focussed force" strategy we now have is a shift toward assisting Taiwan, even if that is not the primary intention. Australia will support the major democracy and economy that is Taiwan and you should not underestimate the value of Taiwan people to Australia. Aukus Pillar 2 will provide long range strike capability that will be able to support Taiwan relatively quickly (including launch platform for the US from Aus). Pillar 1 (SSNs) will take longer and not impact any immediate altercation. Australia is highly unlikely to provide "boots on the ground" into Taiwan, BUT is almost guaranteed to lead (let alone support) sanctions. We are highly like to quickly be involved in the Malacca Strait trade route and likely to have involvement in any blackade of Taiwan - though that last element would be limited until Aukus pillar 1 (submarines) are available. Stay strong Taiwan.

    • @awf6554
      @awf6554 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Agreed, no boots on ground in Taiwan. The ground forces are too small to provide a significant force anyway.
      The navy is very likely to be involved in any conflict, but Australia's most significant contribution (apart from intelligence) would be as a submarine base for operations against China's Indian Ocean supply lines.

    Speaking as an Aussie I was pleasantly surprised at those polls showing just how strongly my fellow Australians feel about supporting Taiwan. 'Strength in numbers and various flags' is, I believe, the best strategy for dealing with China at present.
    Should China increase hostility towards Taiwan and look to implement some kind of threat to invade, as is predicted by 2027, then I'll be interested to see just what plans AUKUS and other collaborative bodies have, that can be used to dissuade China from pushing ahead with their stated goal of forcing Taiwan to become part of China.

    Older Australian here, your assumptions are insulting and naive. Australians disliked the British military's disregard for Australian lives at Gallipoli and other WW-I battles, and saw the British government's WW-II exploitation of Australian volunteers and the UK failure to defend Singapore (giving Axis access to the Dutch Indies and New Guinea) as betrayal. With the Australian forces trapped in Europe and Africa, Australia had to support the US navy against the Imperial Japanese. After WW-II Australia's first defence strategy was to obtain the atomic bomb, but neither the Brits nor Americans would share so in 1972 Australia switched its defence priority to the strategic defence pacts. Unfortunately, during war a treaty is worth only the paper it is written on, and mostly because both Indonesia and the CCP are expansionist militant regimes, Australia has to also maintain and build its own defence capabilities while knowing that the CCP would almost certainly begin by cutting all our communications lines and destroying satellites.

Very importantly, its about The United States and Britain assisting Australia to develop its own next gen NUCLEAR powered submarines.
    An offer that is only on the table for Australia because of close [family] ties and partnerships going back to the Boxer Rebellion.

    The big issue is we are not sure the US loads can build all the Virginias the US wants let alone ours (Australias) and the UK SSN program is said to maybe be in trouble - and the UK is close to large scale civil disruption.

    Yeah I think the majority of Australians support Taiwan as it does Ukraine. We believe in a fair go and a big bully walking into a free country and taking over isn't right. We stand up for ours and others rights to be happy and free people. I have no doubt we would have your back Taiwan as we do Ukraine.

      Australia is building special bases to host and service existing AUKUS nuclear submarines and the U.S. and Australia are upgrading airfields to support U.S. strategic bombers.
      It is almost certain Australia would defend Taiwan. It government won’t commit to the details until the extent of the problem is known.

      From Wikipedia: “The RAN is planned to receive their first Virginia class submarine from the US in the early 2030s.” The next-generation SSN-AUKUS boats are expected to enter service first with the Royal Navy in the late 2030s and the RAN in the early 2040s. It would be nice if Australia could obtain the first of the Virginia SSNs (maybe 2nd-hand, whether leased or purchased) by the mid-2020s. Here’s hoping.
