This makes me happy. I mainly race motocross on my kx450 but I have had seven banshees and a yfz450r. Last banshee was my 421 cub so I’m happy to see a company do a banshee build in 2019. Proves they are not dead!
I've always been more of a MX guy...Banshee is my favorite quad hands down though. Even the little Blaster I had was super fun and whippy, its DEFINITELY a two stroke thing. I just LOVE smokers, no matter what its on, Stihl chainsaws, RC enginess, KX250...yes please. I also love turbine engines, but I don't have one of those...yet
Nice builds. I had an absolutely showroom quality 05 Banshee a few year's back. One owner with practically no miles. Always wanted to do a build on it but couldn't bring myself to tear it apart and kept her completely stock. I took it riding at a buddies house one day and parked it under a tree while we went inside to grab some lunch. A few minutes later I hear a huge crash. I ran outside to see what all the ruckus was about. Turns out a massive tree limb broke away from the tree around 40 feet up and landed directly on my Banshee. She was still in tack and ran but the rear end of the frame was bent along with the axle. The limb was so heavy the axle was in the ground and the impact blew the rear shock completely. I kept her for a while but got sick everytime I looked at it. So I eventually sold it on to someone else who was thrilled to get it. Very fun quad and very tough to have survived the impact from that huge tree branch.
Some of my best childhood memories in the early 90's were of me and my buddies and our Banshee's. Easy to work on, very reliable and made amazing power pretty easy. Electric like torque. The only thing that sucked was the suspension, you couldn't push them hard or they'd bite!
You're totally right! The suspension on these things is terrible haha. As long as you're in the smooth sand you're okay. But don't get near that choppy stuff!-Chase
