There was that bite when she said that. Like "F you! You did nothing for me" but instead of being defensive Val Jean accepts what he did and sought to make things right.
@2:59 The moment Valjean said he'd send for her immediately and the way Fantine's face went into sheer shock/overjoy gets me in the feels every single time. That right there, is brilliant acting.
I like how Javert is so bent on enforcing the law that he completely takes that guy's story at face value without even asking her or any other witnesses about what happened.
I read somewhere that his mother was a prostitute and had to deal with that so it could be a possibility of why he didnt help her, because she reminded him of the past he wanted to be rid of.
Which completely insults the sacrifices his own mother likely made for him. She was likely in a very similar situation as Fantine, choosing between prostitution or starvation.
I love Valjean has become a true symbol of hope in a musical that over emphasizes the misery in the world(hence the title). It really shows how he took what the Bishop did and said by heart and in every scene works to show how far he has come in showing others the same mercy he was given
Javert: "I have heard such protestations everyday for twenty years lets have no more explanations save your breath, save your tears Honest work, Just rewards that's the way to please the Lord!" Best line ever
He’s not an evil guy, he honestly believes that people can’t change and what he does is right. He believes in the law. He’s a good guy in that he does whatever he believe he is doing the right thing.
Javert did not encounter the real Jesus in his heart, else he would know the infinite grace and forgiveness that the Lord had for outcasts such as Fantine
This scene always makes me tear up. I'm beginning to wonder what it says about me that all my favorite movies, games, books, and tv shows are the ones that make me cry the most.
For me I can relate to this scene, how nice is it to meet someone who has such a caring heart. Who shows you mercy. I have only known a few people who truly have listened to me and who truly have radiated with love just hugging me. Just a touch could make you feel like everything was safe when you were with them. Those are my favorite characters in films, the truly caring heroes.
This scene is amazing! Love how Javert is cold and almost cyborg like. Then him trying to stop valijian he souls almost like an adult trying to explain things to a small child.
The Valjean - Fantine dynamic is one of the ways that each adaption and casting is a little different, and I like that. The Liam Neeson / Uma Thurman version suggested a chaste romantic dynamic between them. This one suggests more of an older brother, younger sister dynamic (likely due to the age gap between Jackman and Hathaway).
Javert kind of wasted his life chasing some guy who stole some bread. Like aren't there more important things? There's a revolution going on and he's chasing this rags to riches!!
French Version: Javert: Tell me quickly what just happened, Who is dead and who killed him? Wherever I pass, know this, Law and order is in security Bambatois: Inspector, would you believe it, I was crossing from the park, When this young woman attacked me, For a positive remark. Javert: Take this ride out into prison, Keep her there for a few months Let us see if she regains her reason As well as her respect. Fantine: Please let me remain free, I have hardly anything left, If you let me go to prison, You will kill my poor Cosette! Javert: I have heard such protestations, If you think I would believe you, All these lies and explanations Will not save you from what's due. Our minds are tested, Much more than our hands! Valjean: A moment of your time, Javert, Let this woman go. Javert: But Monsieur le Maire! Valjean: I believe what she said, She needs a doctor not a jail. Take he to the hospital. Javert: But Monsieur le Maire! Fantine: Can this be? Valjean: Proceed, I will see it done. I know your face. Have I seen you before? Show me some way to help you How have you come to this state, In a dangerous place like this? Fantine: Monsieur le Maire, Do not mock me. You kicked me out of the factory Valjean: I relieved you of your debts Fantine: You left me in the gutter, You scoundrel of a mayor! Valjean: Can this be true? What have I done? Fantine: You let your foreman send me away. Valjean: My God! Had I but known! Fantine: I no longer feel anything. If there is any mercy in the world, God would have let me die instead! Valjean: In His name, my task has just begun! Take her to hospital at once, Javert. Javert: But Monsieur le Maire! Valjean: Begone! I do not want to see anyone else today!
Your artwork is truly amazing!!! I'm only thirteen but I absolutely love les miserables. I am also very passionate with my artwork and your work is such an inspiration!!! You are extremely talented!!!😱😱😱😃
2 points I must bring up...1: his butler or whatever he is, is a coward and should have spoken up in Fantines defense...2: I want to feel sorry for Fantine but it's hard when she acts like such a badass around men but then acts like such a victim when they confront her.
What does fantine say when the man walks over to her? (it's before this part of the movie right before she scratches him) she says something really high pitched and quite and I just can't figure out what she says
It is because he was unable to save her that he takes on her daughter as his own. It is his penance for having failed to do her justice when the foreman let her go.
The “You let your foreman send me away,” is one of the best-delivered crescendos I’ve ever heard.
There was that bite when she said that. Like "F you! You did nothing for me" but instead of being defensive Val Jean accepts what he did and sought to make things right.
And although he could never take back what happened to Fantine, at least she died knowing Cosette would be cared for. And she was.
"I was lost here in the dark." Likely story, jerk.
Yeah, likely storryyyy....
@2:59 The moment Valjean said he'd send for her immediately and the way Fantine's face went into sheer shock/overjoy gets me in the feels every single time. That right there, is brilliant acting.
Hiya H I rewinded like 3 times just to see her expression over and over again
Always made me cry
Still crying right now

I know a lot of people in power who are like that.
@@brierichardson8462 Javert was born in jail.

Prostitutes often wind up in jail.

"If there's a god above, he'd let me die instead"
And that's exactly what happened
When I first saw this movie I totally shipped them....and then she died.😢
They *both* died
You mean *they died*
I loved this scene, it made me cry because how sweet Valjean is!!
Yeah…
Javert: "I have heard such protestations everyday for twenty years lets have no more explanations save your breath, save your tears Honest work, Just rewards that's the way to please the Lord!" Best line ever
There was no honest work for many people! Javert, could you step in the shoes of Fantine?
It's funny because he's heard such protestations every day for twenty years. Shouldn't he know when someone is lying or telling the truth by now?
He’s not an evil guy, he honestly believes that people can’t change and what he does is right. He believes in the law. He’s a good guy in that he does whatever he believe he is doing the right thing.
His "Save your breath, save your tears" kind of sounded like he was considering her feelings.
Javert did not encounter the real Jesus in his heart, else he would know the infinite grace and forgiveness that the Lord had for outcasts such as Fantine

Catharsis...
There is something deep within us that reacts to mercy and redemption.

Same!!! So impressive

Watch the 2018 version. Dominic West (Valjean) is like a father figure to Lily Collins (Fantine)
Javert's voice is amazing.
Agreed
It's okay here, but there are some parts in this movie where he was REALLY flat. Not Crowe's fault though, and he's a good actor.
Here's the one thing I've always wanted. Les Miserables in my High School.
I found it! I love Javert's part in this song.
Yeah.
I just love how he sings "let him answer to javert"
Javert kind of wasted his life chasing some guy who stole some bread. Like aren't there more important things? There's a revolution going on and he's chasing this rags to riches!!
AWH this scene is so hard to be find! thank you
She scratched the shit out of him
Do u men 😊

I know your face.
Have I seen you before?
Show me some way to help you
How have you come to this state,
In a dangerous place like this?
Fantine: Monsieur le Maire,
Do not mock me.
You kicked me out of the factory
Valjean: I relieved you of your debts
Fantine: You left me in the gutter,
You scoundrel of a mayor!

I can't watch this without being emotional
Fantine. Cause of death: death.
Actually the cause of Fantine's death is tuberculosis.
No. That's just what they want you to think. The actual cause of death is just pure concentrated death. It's pretty tragic, really.
Zeruckiven I don't get it?
How did Fantine die? Poisoned by her enemies.
She got hit by a runaway cart...OF EMOTIONS.

Javert is awasome
Thank you so much for posting this clip!
This scene gets to me.
So Fancy Wolverine saves Susan Boyle from the evil Fat Maximus...
Maria: The Demon Barber of TH-cam hehe 😜
Hahaahhahaahhahqhqh
LOL
All the credits go to Screen Junkies
The artwork is incredible!!!! Love it so much!!!!
And this is the part where I wanted Anne Hathaway and hugh jackman to play a couple eventually

I just saw this but your artwork is gorgeous! I hope you’ve stuck with it you have big things in store for you
Fantine : no, please i have a child, she needs me!
Javert : i don't give a fuck about your child
"Is it true what I've done? To an innocent soul?"
Very beautiful art!! Keep going!!!
If there’s god above above he would let me die instead best line ever
I forgot not all of the singers were that... great in this adaptation. Anne and Hugh did great, though!
What beautiful artwork!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
She says "I don't want you."
Holy shit those drawings were incredible
Your artwork is beautiful 😌
Noice art, man!
I ship them (valjean and fantine)
A very good scene of Fantine's Arrest.
Your drawings are excellent!!
Dude, that art tho! Its amazing! You need a job doing les mis drawings!
You're only 16??? Beautiful art!!!
his voice at 1:14
Nice artwork, needs more exposure besides TH-cam Like maybe Devinart
Oh Lord I seriously didn't need to give any of that information

I hear ya, but you have to understand the time period this is set in. Once Javer made his descision, she had no chance and she knew that.
@@bathumb45 yeah that's very true
Great scene
oh Bertie Carvel

First she sings: "I don´t want you" And then says: "I beg you, don´t report me, sir, I`ll du whatever you may want" ..Something like that?
"Show me some way to help you" ❤ 1:34
Okay I can see the issues that’s brought about how they sing. That music is struggling to keep up with the inflections oof
Saves? She still died.
Kinetic Kid Saves from jail

Bitch I’m crying and it’s only a 3 minuet clip
I SHIP IT!!! T.T
I don’t remember this scene. Was it in the movie or just the Blu-ray?
Leanna Mation I own the film on DVD and this scene is definitely there.
Did he really signed your art!?
Victor hogo is great man
I love Javert 😍 my fav character!!!
but Russel Crowe’s interpretation is not the top
