Have to be honest, when I first saw the title I imagined it’d just be Mario 64, except with Sonic as the main character. But no, they changed most of the characters, enemies, bosses and items to Sonic characters in various interesting ways. That’s awesome to see!
And Sonic's physics and moveset. I played through the version with Mario 64 enemies but it still felt like a Sonic game.
@@anakinthemannequin69 That too! Often these mods are just model swaps, but this one actually goes all out and makes Sonic actually feel like Sonic.
If you are wondering, Sonic jumping while underwater isn’t a glitch. That’s how it worked in Sonic Colours
A good pick tbh, without that the water levels would be impossible without some major revamping
this isn't just a mod, this is a freaking masterpiece. I'm just shocked of how good this mod is. I think Sonic has the best modding community.
Your right and I agree, some other examples would be Sonic 2 HD, Sonic 3 AIR, Generations/Unleashed mods and *_Especially_* P-06. P-06 takes the cake because someone (ChaosX) took a disaster and made it into a masterpiece... Absolute savior right there

The moment when I saw that the Whomp's Fortress owl was changed into the old dude from the OVA I realized that this mod is a masterpiece

This is seriously impressive, they took a mario game and turned it into *a whole new sonic game* with just romhacking, i'm suprised they even made this, Thodds (Sonic model, voices, and everything for sonic and Gamebun (All models and everything else)
it wouldnt be possible without the help of Gamebun and Thodds, they made a whole new literal sonic game.
"just romuacking"? I'm pretty sure they used the SM64 source code, which makes this effort pretty easy
Nah, definitely not a "whole new literal Sonic game". It's LITERALLY the same exact Super Mario 64 levels with sprite changes, and a couple changes in mechanics.

Here's some tricks and infos: - You can change the health option by pressing B in the Pause menu but beware if you're hit you can lose up to 50 Rings and they will scatter but in exchange you won't have fall damage, breath more longer underwater (beware of the countdown theme) and your rings will be drained in the toxic maze. So it's up to you for choosing your health option
- Using the Bounce Attack acts also as long jump when it's correctly used
- Because Sonic runs faster than the plumber, he can run easily on the slopes that Mario can't (you can even reach the roof of the castle like this) so you can cut corners or making the Metal Sonic rematch easier on THI
-For the slides, take it easy (especially the one from TTM) because it's easy to go fast and fall into the hole below

You know, this game may be a classic, but you also gotta try super sonic 64 ds, the remake where tails and knuckles are playable, you have to slog through playing big the cat at the start though

Using the unused Super Sonic theme from Sonic 3 for the wing shoes is something I didn't expect.
8:39 these are based off of a stage asset seen in sonic adventure 1 and 2 which is basically a giant weight that behaves similar to a thwomp

I have seen a mod that model swaps SM64 Mario into Sonic Adventure 2, but its just a model swap, its not nearly as elaborate as this.
It’s got sonic characters in it because the Mario characters went on holiday and the mushroom kingdom needed the sonic characters to protect mushroom kingdom lol this is a true story on how sonic characters are in this game
I like how the wing cap theme is the unused super sonic theme from sonic 3.
I'd love to see it taken a step further and change the levels to Sonic locations. Like making Bomb Om Battlefield into Green Hill, Mushroom Mountain (I think that's the name) into Mushroom Hill, etc.

This game is so well made, props to the creators for making this, every character fits so well but we could change the big Chao into Big the Cat

Only thing that could have been improved is having the knuckles pumpkin hill track play during the ghost mansion level 🤣
I believe the enemy that replaced the Chain Chomp is an enemy from Sonic Lost World. I can’t remember the exact name of it though.

That chainchomp in bobomb battlefield is now the ball/robot that Zazz from the deadly 6 uses in sonic dash

Well you can switch out Mario's Health with Sonic Health by pausing the game and you will see that you can allow to switch Mario's Health to Sonic's Health

This mod and the one DingDong did on oneyplay are easily the best sm64 mods that just make me smile the whole way.
