One of the best films that defined my childhood. I didn’t even know it had an art book, guess I’m adding it to my library. I always loved that atomic age and screen printed kind of artwork. I love your art book review series.
One of my favorite movies of all time. I remember seeing it in the theater when it first came out and I've re-watched it numerous times over the years. My little boy learned what it means when something dies by watching this film with me and talking about the hunting scene.
I have that movie on a video tape at home 😄 I haven't seen it since middle school, but I had fond memories of it. The characters movements and traits felt lively, and even though (in my opinion) was a simpler yet deep story + it was definitely well executed. Simple/deep, they don't go in-depth into each character, but it's suggested from the environment they are in, body movements, appearance and voice. They didn't need to tell you their long lore but shows you, which I love. Kinda like show don't tell. I always loved the power of heavy objects in general, especially in this movie, there is weight to the robots actions. I agree on every point 💯 he mentioned in this video, and dang I can tell he appreciates this movie. Mote then I can ever imagine. I only wish more people can see your videos, so keep up the good work and good work! 😃
Thank you so much for this, Adam!! Ever since you did that sneak peek of the book I have been waiting and waiting for this lol!! LOVED this movie as a kid, it stood out from the others! Do you have any plans of doing Prince of Egypt or The Road to El Dorado in the future?
Everyone asks for Prince if Egypt which is ironic cause I’m not a huge fan of it - or El Dorado, although the art was cool (not great though) I totally think I stand alone on that opinion because it’s in such high demand by so many
@@AdamDuffArt thank you for the reply,Adam!! Is there a particular reason why you don't really like them as much or find them interesting, like art based or story based? I like the art style and the very angular faces of the male characters. What do you think about Ori and the blind forest?
Damn Adam, every artbook you touch on just makes me wanna go and get them. Btw, speaking about the difficult times Brad Bird and his team went through during this film's production, I came across this on Wikipedia: In 1998, during production of The Iron Giant, Bird's older sister, Susan, was shot and killed by her estranged husband in a murder-suicide. While coping with the tragedy, Bird decided to adjust the story of the film to include a message of anti-gun violence, and dedicated the film to her.
I just love this movie, I'm just speechless because of the overwhelming nostalgia I'm feeling right now. I think it was also the first emotional movie I watched as a kid. Much love for making this video have a great day and stay safe!
I was geeking out seeing that Gigantor inspired design in the book. Though I can't remember the other Super Robot it is more closely related to. Such a great movie all about friendship.
Great video as always. I haven't seen the film in a while, but the book reminded me of scenes from the movie. I think that is a testament to the quality of animation.
I'm so happy you did this. First of all, this is also one of my favourite animated movies ever. Second of all, Dean is one cool cat, isn't he? I even bet you could do a whole case study on just him :D
@@AdamDuffArt how? the artstyle is so so nice, the music is out of this world. And I mean the sea parting scene, and end scene with thousands of characters animated individually. Either way, your perspective could be interesting ^^
Oh! I have this artbook! I highly recommend it! :D And the movie as well...Now I feel like rewatching it, it's been a couple of years since the last time I did.
I once wrote a 74 chapter sequel to The iron Giant. I could probably teach mr. Bird a few things LOL I like to think of it is the characters were writing through me, it was like an out-of-body experience where the only thing I was doing was continuing an organic story. I really wish I could get it made into a book or movie but I know that will never happen still I consider it the genuine continuation of The iron Giant. ... Yes, I truly believe it's one of the best things I've ever written and it's as good or even better than the movie... Okay not better than the movie but I think it's on the same level.
Quick question. Where did you get those lights shining on the artwork? I have some art hanging in my office, and been looking for a decent light for them. Great video as well! The Iron Giant is an all time favorite of mine as well. Can't tell you how many times I've watched it.
I've been watching your videos for a while and I remember once I got a call from a telemarketer who sounded remarkably like you, your tone, calm nature and I was wondering if you ever had a conversation with a crackhead 10yearold Australian kid who talked about a magic tree? Just wondering. Thank you for all of your content.
Another case of: The Voice doesn't quite fit the person... I don't know what I expected... but I kind of had a different visualisation... Which is still strange to say as someone with Aphantasia
Also, it's sad that in today's digital world you have to get the printed version of the art book in the very short timespan. I've seen the Iron Giant just now, and I'd really like to see the art book myself, but the amazon charges $200 for it, plus don't forget about the delivery to Russia. That's insane. And there is no PDF avalible. Guess it's hard to sell PDF's, huh? Well, I don't understand why won't they release a digital version after a year of a print release, for example. Because they won't get my money now (as it's out of stock), why would they care if the PDF would got leaked to the web? At least they could've got some money out of it, instead of nothing they're getting now.

and how it was made.
I love this film so much.. Recently bought the OST on vinyl I feel the music is super underrated

@@AdamDuffArt No probs :)
Iron giant was one of my favorite movies as a lad, I would rent it all the time along with Donkey Kong 64.
Thank you for the video.

Best movie ever
please please please please please do Prince of Egypt

I was just looking up the iron giant yesterday 😁
One of my favorite moments in any movie is when Kent’s face gets closed on by the bathroom door. Honestly one of the funniest animated moments for me
Of course lol!
Ah yes. The first movie i remember making me cry.
I would love to see see you interviewed on Your Creative Push. I think it would mesh super well!
Hmm!!

They still print this book?! To Amazon!!!
Could you provide a scan or a good quality photo of "I don't feel safe... DO YOU?" poster at 13:46?

Where can I find this art book at?
I dont know if your into magic the gathering at all, but their art books would be amazing for this series
In my cart for sure :) but it would be hard to review it because it’s a compilation of different artists - nothing to really discuss
