    Not sure if you noticed but usually on them new corn heads the tips of the snoots on each side light up when you have the lights on. The yellow tips.

      Yes we have had this newer series of corn head prior to trading for this 12 row. It’s pretty neat!!!

    I gently want to remind folks who are getting all excited (like a kid in a candy store) about the X9 that HELLO... two other brands have successfully had a twin rotor out for 20+ years already. And they've made a class 8 and 9 twin rotor way before John Deere. 😁 I promise I'm not bashing this channel or this video. Just making a general statement that many kind of have forgotten.

    • @aTrippyFarmer

      I haven't seen a single New Holland in my area in at least 5 years... that tells me all that I need to know. There are some more Claas combines showing up, though.

      Same in our area. But Mike Mitchell said it best in his last video. It's what we know and have worked on for many years. So you go with what you know.

    Running at a slower speed in the field will improve grain loss but will up your fuel usage as more time is spent on each pass.

    • @aTrippyFarmer
      @aTrippyFarmer  ปีที่แล้ว

      You think so? I figured that you’d make less passes and the lower speed would be more efficient.

    It’d be nice if the dealers would offer a program of guaranteed loaner within 24 hours for a machine breakdown that requires shop to repair which would allow more flexibility for the smaller operators. Great looking truck, u know the dealer is expecting you to keep that one!!

    Getting that spare trailer out of storage and parked in the field for excess load capacity when trucks are hauling corn to the elevator, Is it a good back-up plan ?

    • @aTrippyFarmer
      @aTrippyFarmer  ปีที่แล้ว

      We will have the extra trailer ready to go for corn harvest

    • @HenryLoenwind
      @HenryLoenwind 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not sure if it makes sense to park an uncoupled trailer on the field. You have no good way of getting the produce out of it again, other than hauling the whole trailer or manually throwing a mobile auger (slow!) under it. Also, its legs will sink in mightily. If you have the manpower to run that auger and have an extra trailer, you might as well rent a truck to run it normally.
      Now, using ro-ro containers could work if the ground is friendly enough. But as with any kind of buffer, once it's full, you are limited to your hauling capacity. Sure, you can haul 24h a day, while the combines may need to stop based on ambient humidity, but then you're paying 3 shifts of truck drivers.

    Andy... Do most farmers buy their equipment outright of do they lease? I used to work for Gates Rubber Company in their Data Center and the Unix Servers and storage units they had were all leased. The reason was strickly for tax purposes. If they leased they were about to take the full cost of the systems off on their taxes. If they bought them they had to depreciate them over like five years. And the value for like five year old equipment was not that much. Leasing allowed them to trade in and up every three years or so. And they could take the lease payments off fully for the duration of the lease.

    • @aTrippyFarmer
      @aTrippyFarmer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I really think that a slower pass through the field would use less fuel per mile. That would probably be offset by the added weight in the field and the road… who knows!

    1 machine could have 100k a year in depreciation

    • @aTrippyFarmer
      @aTrippyFarmer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that’s certainly worth considering. Since our machines aren’t brand new, depreciation will continue to slow versus new ones. I’d bet a new X9 depreciates 100-125k in the first year.

Can't see anything directly in front of you because of the height of the hood, trying to climb into those trucks to sit in them is LITERALLY climbing up... just way too big for the majority of how people who buy those things will use them.

Kinda like you were speaking to the cost of equipment…. We usually trade strippers every three years. Because if the drastic price increase and interest rates, we will be holding on to ours.
