Whoops I have to apologize to rock auto, turns out even though the advertisement and the previous owner said this was a 1990 Tracker, the title says 1991, so I was ordering parts for the wrong year this whole time. Oops.
Took 2 weeks on paint and decals, waited until the night before to make sure it actually could run. Well played sir, welcome to the brotherhood of hooptie garage project cars.
I live in northern Alberta and we have lots of these old trackers around here. Most guys who own them use them for hunting rigs because they'll go anywhere with little to no problems whatsoever.
Had a white 95 five speed in the mid 2000s. Was one of my favourite vehicles that I owned. Blast to drive on the trails. Poor girl rusted away like so many.
Looks great! I've done many paint jobs, its always the same, orange peel, runs, wrong amount of drying, I never end up finish sanding it, the prep alone and keeping the stupid paint guns clean takes ages. Nice job powering through till the end!
I personally use Partsgeek and they haven't messed me up on my Jeep CJ or my old Toyota T100 or my 98 Impreza... Even on the obscure hard to find stuff... May be worth a look...
Pro tip the next time you want to do rust repair but don't want to bother with metal work you should use fiberglass filler, it's waterproof and will last longer than just putting bondo over the same spot.
Jeeze yeah that's getting up there. I feel like I need to do some preventative maintenance to that engine before it decides to leave us on the side of the road somewhere. I think the tow back home would cost more than the truck.
I almost never see anyone with the model I had, 1st gen long wheelbase hard top 4 Dr. Loved that thing, ran like a top and I wouldn't have been afraid to drive it from NY to California and back.😅
Thanks for the tip! That's one part that actually looks brand new on the thing, so I'm guessing it went out on the previous owners before. I'll check it every so often.
God loves us all so much that he gave his perfect son to die for our sins and raised him from the grave to defeat death. Through faith in JESUS we can be saved and reconciled to GOD. please repent🙏♥️
A great, cheap brake upgrade would have been to get the 4 door for caliper and rotor. You get dual vented and 2 piston calipers. Waaay better brakes after that. Did that on mine and she stops great now even with the big mud tires.
Your 3 wire O2 sensor is what they started using in 1991, As far as looking up parts you are better off looking up Suzuki SideKick, I currently have 3 of them but have had a dozen or more over the years
I was about to say cross reference the parts to the part your changing, I had an 88 Ford festiva and there are a ton of Mitsubishi mirage parts that worked on it I didn't know this on 2000 but the previous owner did😂
My old tenant who used to rent my garage to part those Geo Trackers without apparently he made a pretty good living doing it there's a great following for them. Who would have known😮

@Motiv8Labs haha, my old man taught me how to do drums on his truck using just those two tools, too. No pictures, no diagrams, just look at it and go, then put it back together in reverse order.
Calmini 6" lift, mini spool, snorkel, and 31" tires. That little machine will take water up to the windshield, and climb like a mountain goat. Replace motor with a turbo VW diesel, put the gears from an automatic in, and you get it all.. MPGs, and 4x4 ability that rivals some higher built rigs. To bad parts are getting harder to find..
You want to do a hagen mod or the dual cv axle mod. So the same cv works on both sides. Only carry one spare. They break easy offroad and has to be the weakest part of these things
How many old license plates do you have to cover the holes in the floor? In 1993 we had a Motorola Micro-tac cell phone. It was shaped like a sanding block
That's the first cellphone my old man got for the family to try out. Just one to take with us when traveling. I can still remember what the tones sounded like dialing on that old thing to try and call a buddy. I remember them saying we could only talk for a couple minutes. Who knows how much it cost per minute back then.
@@Motiv8Labs Our plan was $70/30 minutes per month. We had a very unreliable Taurus (get too warm and the computer would crash ... non-SHO. ) The phone was cheaper than a car payment. We just had our first child and needed that safety.... BTW you and I were doppelgangers when I was a teenager
Creator question. Who are you using for your music rights management? I’d love to have access to these songs but my current service doesn’t offer it. I’m using artlist. Really appreciate the video! I recently “restored” a first gen Xterra so I understand the parts struggle :).
For music it's this website Lickd. They were the only ones I found licensing popular songs. They only have certain artists and most of the time only have their non-hit songs. Also waiting for the claims against your video to clear before you publish can take like 2 days sometimes, you have to upload as unlisted and then submit a request to Lickd to clear the claim. They have an automated claim clearing system for some songs but most I have to send in the request for. It's kinda a whippin. I wouldn't necessarily recommend them, but they seem to be the only game in town.
I do like the paint colour and the repairs l am just wondering if there is a good spare parts shop near were you live because l never order any part online in the area l live in Sydney Australia there is a very good spare parts shop and l have a 1997 Toyota Hilux and l have spent a lot of money at this spare parts and every part l have got as been the correct part and l do like your Suzuki Seira (Geo Tracker) and it is interesting that your Suzuki Sierra was made in Japan probably on the same production line as the Suzuki Seria but the only difference is the badges and the placement of the steering wheel pedals and dashboard
I haven't found anything in Texas where we are, but I found a Suzuki/Tracker youtube channel with a guy who sells all the salvage parts. I'll have to talk to him and see if he can help any.
@Motiv8Labs Actually l pretty sure Australia is one of the best place for car parts my 1997 Toyota Hilux which is not that common in Australia l know of four others in the area live in the South Western suburbs of Sydney but any part l have needed for my Hilux maybe the fact that a lot of the parts fit other vehicles and l have replaced the distributor cap and the rotor button and all the spark plug leads and Actually the leads were made in the USA because the 22R/E are common in the USA l did just change all those ignition components out of peace of mind because when l bought my Hilux 5 years ago no service records at all
i don't wanna be that guy, but my comment on the first video was correct *before* i saw how much rust there was. and this is coming from a guy who just bought a 20yo pickup with ventilated floorboards... for under $2k.
I’m not fixing the rust cuz I’m just going to hit the trails….. spends 10x the time and money on setting up an elaborate paint booth and a shitty paint job anyways. Not trying to be a dick here but it would have been more effective to make a trail ride to have fixed the rust don’t want to do metal work just use long strand fiberglass bondo as another poster suggested and spray paint that thing out in the driveway.
Just realized that probably sounded like I was coming at you wrong...atleast he is into the hobby don't put him down cuz he is starting exactly where we all did (with what we could afford) that was all I met (the jeep comment was in goof fun)
I just can't believe this. To spend all that time, and money, to paint a car without even patching the rust holes with some sheet metal. And, spending two weeks painting it, then rushing to get it drivable in three nights. I wouldn't let this yahoo anywhere within breathing distance of anything mechanical I own.
Whoops I have to apologize to rock auto, turns out even though the advertisement and the previous owner said this was a 1990 Tracker, the title says 1991, so I was ordering parts for the wrong year this whole time. Oops.
I have a really solid, no rust, '98 Tracker soft top, 5 sp, up for $4,500.... it's really reliable, you could've driven it home...
I remember as a teen in the 90s these things and the sidekicks were everywhere.

Pretty terrible job of prioritizing that's for sure.

That's a great job and i love what you did with it. Great work, Super Cricket!

That paint job turned out way Rad!!
I dig it. Ive always wanted an amigo personally

I can see why, sounds like they would make a good deer lease truck.
glad to see you went w/ the splash graphics
My first NEW car was a red 1990 Geo Tracker. Absolutely loved it!!
I painted my 84 bronco yellow with black trim and it was a great decision. I like being out in something different from everyone else.
You give me hope to restore my 97 sidekick.
I had a black Suzuki Sidekick, it was fantastic.
That Geo will put any jeep to shame! Make sure you get some big ol tires that can float that tracker and you will be unstoppable
I was going to make a snarky comment, but I realized I could not do half of what you did. Kudos amigo!
Thx for sharing dude was fun to watch
Thanks man!
I miss my Tracker... NGL I would daily drive that finished Tracker... NICE!!

That's awesome! I can see why I keep getting so many comments about people loving their old Trackers.
This was my first vehicle, I loved it, I did treat it bad, wish I didn’t but I was a dumb kid. Had fun in it though. It refused to get stuck!!!
You really remind me of William Christopher. For those that might now know, William Christopher played Father Mulcahy on M*A*S*H

You should check out Acme engine adapter company, they make engine adapter plates for older Volkswagen TDI diesel engine for those trucks.
I'd patch the important rust holes and bed liner the interior floors.
Jeff's cousin rans a LineX shop so that's what he was saying too!

@16:46 you mean a screwdriver and maybe a pair of needle nose pliers are not the correct tools for drum brakes? Lol
That's what my old man always used, but he also cussed at the brakes a lot and shot springs around the shop too.

After driving it around, it definitely needs a little bit of a lift so I think that's next on the list.
You want to do a hagen mod or the dual cv axle mod. So the same cv works on both sides. Only carry one spare. They break easy offroad and has to be the weakest part of these things
