Looks good fella. Can you remove the gearbox cover with the oil still in the engine? I have corrosion setting in where paint has chipped off and wanted to remove the housing so i could clean and repaint. Engine is still in the bike…. Thanks snd happy new year to you. Regs Mark
Hi, if you remove front timing cover oil will pour out, it might be a good to drain engine oil into a clean container if you want to reuse oil, then remove timing cover, thank and happy new year to you too
I'm about to do a similar thing, bought an RT with shattered cam chain guides as a non runner and paid less than a 2nd hand engine all as a learning project. As I already have an RT I can always use the rest of the bike as spares. Waiting to see the heads come off and the pistons out. My challenge is removing the camshaft sprockets, one I managed to break loose the other has given me an issue, snapping the T50 bits might have been T45 (can't remember) using a breaker bar. Now waiting to get back to it. Loving the engine rebuild experience.
I'm still cleaning the block, had to get out siezed bolt, the broke an extractor in the drilled hole. All full stuff, got it out in the end but now have to fit helicoil. I just hope after this I get still get the parts for the rebuild😮

I have been trying to understand for what is the second hole connected to cylinder, theres one bigger than other i believe the bigger one is for the air/fuel mixture but what about the small one what is it for? (Both holes are connected to hoses, the bigger one i belive it has the accelarator somsthing, i dont know the name in english sorry)
Hi I got TFT sign in red telling me "possible seriouse engine failiure" while on motorway in france.took bike to bmw and they said its ok to ride.kept getting power failiure while doing over 80mph. eventually bike gave up next days riding and i couldnt ignore warnings anymore. bike sounded like a tractor.poss only working on one cyclinder. any clues as to if this can be mended ,like just injector problem or does bike sound totalled?
Hi only just seen your comment, hows the bike , i wouldnt ride that bike anymore by the sounds of your engine, could be a number of faults, i would drop the oil into a very clean container and pour oil through a coffee filter and check for and debris, that will give you a idea if you have mechanical failure, keep us up to date, ride safe
Hi sorry you dont like video, i had to change music as i had a copy right claim and it changed my video edit, reason im stripping this engine is because i have a r1200gs and when i checked my engine oil after a service i found metal particles, so i bought this engine to take apart to try and work out where metal particles were coming from, my bike still runs fine and iv covered over 15,000miles since, i even rebuilt top ends on my bike and big end bearings were fine, i hope you enjoy rest of my videos, im no expert and videos are there to just show whats inside the engine, thanks

I have dropped on another engine so i can use the crank cases to carry on with video, the engine i go had broken guide and dropped a valve

Hi i bought it from a bike shop , you can find lots of engines on ebay now , they usually around £300 plus
