To me the oddest part of this is that the game took away marines driving vehicles. It would really drive home Chief improving the UNSC's situation on the ring to go from nobody out there to seeing convoys of scorpions and warthogs strolling around large portions of the map and skirmishing with Banished forces. Oddly there seems to be a lack of vehicles in general in Infinite, which again is odd for an open world game, its like they designed the open world, then realized that vehicles suck at traversing it so they just didn't put many in and hoped the grappling hook would be good enough that nobody would notice.
@@SkyDoggyH20 I mean, they are technically there, but they are far less prevalent than in previous titles, and you would think the opposite would be true in an open world game, cool grapplehook or no cool grapplehook
So much this. I was betting all my friends who where playing the game that around the end of the game we would have a level that we had some crazy big assault on the banished stronghold. Depending on how many people you help in the game your team would grow in size, with near 100% resulting in some crazy big combination of tanks, Warthogs, Hornets, and marines marching on the enemy shattering anything the pompous brutes tossed at you. Instead we got 1 tanks and 4 marines that die almost instantly...
Easy solution, limit the area the fights can occur in.... like we can do in forge..... have some cover spawn in, maybe a few crashed ships and bodies. There, battle.
Yeah, the closest we got were those weird Halo x Call of Duty fan games where the story was a weird fan fiction about chief being in love with his computer or something.
Yeah it's incredible seeing fans create whole skeleton games to create video content when no company would dare touch the legacy that Bungie left behind for fear of not living up to that standard. Could be so cool to get another Halo one of these days though.....
I know, right? I was just thinking "damn, Halo ended in 2010 and EVERY game in the franchise is awesome! Like 100% of them! How often does that happen?" ♥️
5 minutes in and you nailed my weird feelings about halo infinite. we dont know what happened in halo 6, which would be fine if the dude we were playing as also didnt know and was uncovering it along the way. but we're playing as halo 6's main protagonist, and all he's uncovering are the subplots of a halo 6 story expansion, while assuming that we know the main plot of halo 6
Halo 6 is Halo Wars 2 because 343 expects people to actually play that. It's actually incredible that they did the same thing with Halo 5 and left everyone confused as shit, so they said they wouldn't do that with Infinite and then did it anyways.
It’s not just him. The entire story is framed as a giant mystery, but every single character involved knows what has happened and what is happening. It leaves the dialogue in such an awkward and uncomfortable position where they can’t reflect on any event in the last year and a half beyond vague allusions. Think about it: no one, not even Escharum, brings up the destruction of Dosiac until we see the cutscene of it happening in a flashback.
The difference I noticed between infinite and the originals was I finished infinite and that's that, I have 0 desire to replay it, whereas I probably put 50 hours into halo 2 outskirts alone, for me once you do everything there's no reason to go back
I tried replaying Infinite and it was so boring that even with the tank-gun exploit and grapple-hooking through the levels as fast as possible I still gave up. Those forerunner structures are an absolute slog and there isn't any iconic or super fun missions, just copy paste encounters.
@@chandler224 Well I would say the level where we kill Resh was fun (The Arena fights + the 2 bosses), but that was about the only one that really stood out among the others. I would still rather play Infinite over 5 and maybe 4 but that isn't saying a whole lot.
While it was bland, at least it wasn’t a love story between a computer program and an emotionless super soldier fighting space faring cavemen turned into Digimon. I still have no idea was the next game was about, and I will not try to understand to avoid getting an aneurysm.

I mean, there’s people that think Halo 2 is the best campaign while having the worst level design in the series so… In reality, no Halo campaign is perfect.
The worst part of the campaign IMO was where you had to go to three seperate stupid buildings across the map to go unlock another building across the map
2 crappy games, years between releases, millions of dollars, and a year’s delay… just to make a space themed far cry game with, somehow, a worse story. Honestly, 343 never ceases to amaze. How can one company make such consistently mediocre content and still expect to make a ton of money, even after they’ve completely obliterated Halo’s reputation?
Infinite's campaign single-handedly sent me back to watch the campaign of all the previous Halo games to see if they can improve my understanding, and therefore enjoyment, of the campaign. And while it did for some aspects, the campaign is still largely pretty dull.
Basically it's all about Cortana. First she was insufferable, then she was something of a waifu, then she got feels towards her demise and we even felt something as she and John parted... but now, instead of leaving us with good memories and giving us a cool new character, they have to beat the dead horse like there's no tomorrow.

I think the line about the Endless being worse than the Flood might be more because they’re immune to the effects of Halo, so imagine what would happen if the Flood were to get ahold of them.
I mean within the lore it's more like the halo rings can't kill them so there would still be food for the flood and they could persists, which sounds so shit for why the new enemy is "dangerous".
... they would get shot to pieces, the same way the boss of this game was? The Flood is a terrifying threat that warranted galaxy-wide extinction because you could hardly win against them in conventional warfare. The Endless on the other hand, even if numerously returned, are conceptually not much more of a threat than the Covenant was. They're just regular genocidal aliens who want to fire Halo. From the perspective of humanity, who would all perish during the activation of Halo anyway, their immunity for what comes after doesn't really make a difference. If you argue that the Flood could take them over, you are just reinforcing the idea that the Flood are the bigger threat...
@@DerMassakka I think you're confusing the Endless' goals with the Banished's. The sad thing is that they are to busy not improving the multiplayer to do anything to make the campaign somewhat worth playing through more than once.
I’d prefer they make it worth while to play through just once, or at least make the frame rate stable. To be fair, they’ve lost a lot of staff since launch because dealing with shit management is hard for good devs to put up with, so they’re a little spread thin between creating micro-transactions and ignoring criticism.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who disliked the story. I felt like I had dementia or like I was just going insane playing it. I kept feeling like I was missing massive amounts of content but no... The story is just a Frankenstein patch job of extremely loosely connected ideas that aim to be as inoffensive and uninteresting as possible. It really feels like a tech demo I hate to say it, like they flat out didn't care about a story and were only interested in seeing if players were receptive to an open world Halo game.
Nah it's just missing a whole lot of context. This context is found in halo wars two and in books and comics. Terrible idea to not have your games story in your game.

They seemed to have missed that you can't just make a large map and expect it to be good just because you've slapped halo-ish textures on it. The vehicles were awful, both in driving experience and utility (every blade of grass has some sort of EMP effect). The map was utterly uninspired and forgettable. It literally is just a blur because there is nothing distinguishable from one side of the map to the other. Capturing bases, killing targets, freeing marines, who cares in the end? All you get are some chief points. They have no impact on the game whatsoever. Freeing the marines could have been something pretty cool. But it was a wasted opportunity. Imagine getting into a big ol' battle. Oh no, your health is pretty low. Wouldn't it be pretty cool if at least once you heard over the radio, "Hey Chief, you seem in be in some trouble. We thought we'd return the favour for saving our skin earlier", when suddenly three wasps appear over the ridgeline and give you a bit of reprieve. Nothing fancy, they don't even have to do much; if they get too much damage, they can just fly away before dying. But just the idea that for a moment, the player might think, "Hey, my actions are actually doing something". Literally, the only reason the game was somewhat enjoyable is due to the grapple hook. Whoever came up with that, give them a raise. Otherwise, the game would have been absolutely god awful.
So MC can blow up a ship by itself but the infinity with a bunch of Spartans can't handle the Banished. The same banished that got their asses handed to him by one ship?

Hello I am by no means a halo lore expert and I only played 4 on my friends console but I have a question. In the first game it looked like breaking a part of the halo would cause a chain reaction destroying the entire thing since its off balance and no longer structurally safe. is there any lore reason why this halo is still around and apparently working exept for that one small hole?
The reason is because the first ring was hit with a fusion drive detonation which created such a massive, uncontrolled blast that it weakened the structural integrity of an entire section of the ring, which was then torn apart by its own rotation. Then one of the shorn off parts collided with another part of the ring tearing it to pieces. Presumably this ring was destroyed by something more focused, which limited the damage to the surrounding structure so it could maintain its orbit without further damage.

I mean they have every original halo vehicle in the game
@@SkyDoggyH20 I mean, they are technically there, but they are far less prevalent than in previous titles, and you would think the opposite would be true in an open world game, cool grapplehook or no cool grapplehook
Probably because that's what happened lol. For the marines, it was probably a pathing problem.
Haha! This is crazy stuff. Imagine if they actually did make Halo games after Bungie quit
Yeah, the closest we got were those weird Halo x Call of Duty fan games where the story was a weird fan fiction about chief being in love with his computer or something.

@@JZStudiosonline as someone who played halo wars 2, that's still leaving massive gaps.

I think the line about the Endless being worse than the Flood might be more because they’re immune to the effects of Halo, so imagine what would happen if the Flood were to get ahold of them.
Yeah it's a shit bit of dialogue rather than bad actual story writing per se.
I mean the Flood are immune to the effects of Halo, it's made to wipe out all life so they can't spread

I’d prefer they make it worth while to play through just once, or at least make the frame rate stable. To be fair, they’ve lost a lot of staff since launch because dealing with shit management is hard for good devs to put up with, so they’re a little spread thin between creating micro-transactions and ignoring criticism.

Glad a larger channel isn't totally sucking off halo infinite. Finally a fair, honest review of the poorly-written story.
18:38 as a Queenslander, this is the greatest moment in gaming history.

I gotta say...I discovered your channel entirely because of the YT algorithm knowing I've been watching Halo content. Your presentation and humor are great.
