Mainly known for its two massive megalithic stone boulders, the Riesenstein (Giant Stone) area is a part of an old quarry site from where the stone for Heidelberg Castle and other historical buildings was sourced over centuries. The mystery lies in how these two colossal boulders, each weighing tens of tons, found their way onto the platform that seems specifically crafted for them. Adding to the intrigue are the elaborately carved stairs on one of these blocks, a pattern that we can find in various ancient megalithic places of worship around the world.
