The Felsenmeer (Sea of Rocks) in Lautertal is a unique location steeped in mystery and historical traces. It is a one kilometer-long formation of massive rocks and smaller boulders.
Composed of dark gray quartz diorite, it formed around 340 million years ago from the collision of two paleocontinents. The unique landscape we see today is the result of spheroidal weathering, which makes it look like a giant stream of rocks flowing down the mountain.
The sourroundings are dotted with carved stone structures, thought to be crafted by the ancient Romans, yet some bearing characteristics reminiscent of earlier civilizations.

Landscape with a narrated bit of information and history would have been a better way to highlight the site.

I have taken 30,000 - 40,000 pictures of Felsenmeer. The area is about 4 square km. I also have cleaned a big stone next to the "Kiosk" (Northern side of Felsenmeer). My goal was to let common people and children understand what is really hidden behind Felsenmeer..., which translated in english means "Sea of Stones". I have discovered some disturbing facts about Felsenmeer. I want to thank a local person, Mr. L., for the opportunity and big priviledge he gave me to visit "the tower..." (construction of early 1900s). Btw the "Mohs Scale" of mineral hardness is a qualitative ordinal scale, from 1 to 10 etc.: ...see Wikipedia. Mohs scale clearly shows that Physics and Mathematics are not a personal opinion..., lets start from there. Felsenmeer is for sure not a tale ("....Märchen") of dragons and giants. Felsenmeer involves megalithic evidence. Best Regards from a city near Felsenmeer Germany. Rob.

the length of the chisel strokes on that one large rock makes no sense.... other places on the planet too,

The area was well within the Roman empire for hundreds of years.
The rocks that has been quarried and left, are rocks that turned out to have split due to either damage during handling, or from preexisting fracture in the rock.

your words still do not explain long arching chisel strokes.... that is not how hand chisel strokes look on metamorphic stone. Please go carve some with steel chisels and get back to me.@@jimboAndersenReviews

@ndersenReviews .....not exactly...., even the "nice story" about the column next to the "Kiosk" is far away from reality... I went to Trier to check the facts... You know what I mean...

@sbystander9193 ....he will never come back to you because we do not own such high technology in nowadays. Megalithics around the world belongs to another level.... search on Google. You got a Like from me. Best Regards from Germany. Rob.

it's weird... all of these folks walk right by the most obvious evidence of something not making sense....and it's in the long, arching chisel marks...... like where are the forensics folks....each swing of a mallet leaves evidence of it having happened, when not sanded out, like we see so examples...anyhow, take care@@rode5927
