I found your channel on Pole barn garage . I have been watching the 1963 Pontiac. l subscribed, liked and shared. I hope to see you get more views. All my very best.
At least here in the NJ turtle Wax sells a $6 Hit that's fairly small but it comes with a headlight coating it's been my go too for flip cars clean headlights make it look at least a couple months newer
I like varying levels of wet sandpaper until you reach a uniform, almost polished smooth surface… then clear coat with a UV protected product… like #poppyspatina
Oh and in my most sarcastic voice, “120???, buts it’s a dry heat”…. Try 103° with 90% humidity… I got parts of me wet that I don’t get wet in the bathtub
Yeah ive tried all the different brands of restore kits as well the longest lasting ive found is like you said sand the crap out of it til its perfect smooth then polish it to get the fine scratches out and use the 2k clear coat from a rattle can but even that only lasts about a year here in Texas
did you see the people who used blow torches to heat the plastic, melting it to clarity then applying clear coat spray paint? You could also use a heat gun. The key is once its clear, apply several layers of clearcoat paint.
Yes I saw that but wasn’t prepared to replace them if I melted them to liquid… so I tried these methods…and really none of them worked great… sandpaper and clear coat is the key
@@BuffsGarage I wouldn't recommend it just spend the six bucks on a basic kit it took me about 6 hours to start seeing some progress I was just a broke 19-year-old trying to save every penny I could find under the couch
Put some washing up liquid in the water helps the water stick to the light 👍 Had to do loads of headlights on my saabs before now You can get uv lacquer in a spray can
@@BuffsGarage I recommend taking the headlights out the car makes things so much easier to sand, don't be afraid to use some real ruff wet & dry it can all be sanded out with time 😅
Have you ever tried brake fluid? I've heard it gives a temporary cleanup of the hazing on plastic headlights. You must have a large supply of the Buff's hats, or they dry well😀
I think there is something wrong with your Car!!! The front wheels spun out instead of the rear. I would get that checked out if I were you.😂😅
he had it in reverse...
@@phr3dmcc0y lol… only for one shot… I had to keep backing up and for different shots…
Yep they installed these GTPs backwards for better handling or something… I don’t know? Car makers just don’t build em like they used to.. 🤣

Thank you! I appreciate you coming along for the ride..
YOU DID EVERYTHING WRONG AND SHOULD BE ASHAMED
Absolutely I am… thanks for setting me straight
My wife owns a jag. Not really. She has a Volvo. Her head lights are fine. And the headlight lenses are glass. I like her head lights better.
Totally get that... these are in rough shape and I'll do what I can to save them..
@@BuffsGarage I was talking about my wife's other headlights. LOL.
You have great videos. See you on the next one.
@@danmadison5087 oh right, didn’t know that.. I’m sure they’re better
I sanded and cleared 1972 Shasta camper clearance lights years ago and it really held up well.
Yep I have Poppy’s Patina hooking me up for a future episode

Adding the coating seems to be the key step here..
So what is BUFFs recommend kit for headlights? 113?? Thats nothing 120 here in Phoenix, Arizona

That’s the plan to try again, we’ll see how it works!

Nothing is foolproof to the competent fool
I did the headlights on my 06 explorer and my 08 HHR the explorer wasn’t good enough so I bought new buckets. The HHR came out good
The toothpaste trick does work it just takes a very long amount of time to get any results I did it to a set of Miata headlights
Aint nobody got time for that.. lol
But thanks for responding that it DOES work if you have 2 weeks vacation to try it.. lol

Good video Buff
Thank you sir!
I think it's all about the sand paper,,
Perhaps sanding it down with compound ?
Keeping the dollars down.. I get it
All about budget… but some of this stuff didn’t work at all, just made it look good on camera

I just use yellow mustard to clean my headlights 😂
Lol
Tourquing the front end like that isn't the greatest on a FWD ..
Ask me how I know,
That's just my opinion..
I may have figured that out the hard way already
It'll take it

@@BuffsGarage yeah its gritty and oily. All u do is cut it in half depit it and some elbow grease
I know of a very easy trick, Polyurethane Protective Tape (Leading Edge Tape) You’d be amazed at how clear that make a lens
Sounds pretty cool!
@@BuffsGarage oh and if you don’t want to reapply that stuff every week, spray it with some clear coat 😉. Gives you UV protection too!

Butt I'm not buffing my head lights every month.
I agree.. I have a little help coming from Poppy’s Patina
