    Love all your cozy makes😊 The PJs are so well made and lovely fabric choices Hudson’s are such a great color and I still have to try that pattern. The leaf design is beautiful on the knitted snood and mitts and I think blocking does give a much nicer finish. Can’t wait to see what you are sewing and knitting next 😃

    I do a lot of knitting and I'd definitely call the leaf pattern lace 😍 Thanks for sharing your sewing projects - you've also motivated me to get on with the pyjamas I cut out.

    • @SecretLifeOfASeamstress
      @SecretLifeOfASeamstress  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah that’s good to know thank you!! I would call it lace too but my stitch knowledge is limited 😂 thanks so much for watching xxx

      @ruthstrugnell 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SecretLifeOfASeamstress I was told anything where you're adding and removing stitches (yarnover, make1, slip slip knit, knit 2 together etc) but the overall stitch count stays the same is lace - or at least no-one will argue if you call it lace 🤣

    Hi Sally, on my last pair of Carolyn pajamas I created a back neck facing by copying the top 2 inches of the back bodice pattern (the back neck area). I then attached my back facing to the collar pieces like you would any other facing. it was so much easier to insert and get a nice clean finish than the way the pattern is drafted.

    • @SecretLifeOfASeamstress
      @SecretLifeOfASeamstress  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for this it’s really helpful. The neck finishing can be a bit fiddly can’t it. Thank you for watching too xx

      Haha ah thank you!! Well I think that kit would be a good one to start with (perhaps after getting a bit of scrappy practice in first). I’m really pleased with it 😊 Thank you for watching xx

    Thanks for sharing your lovely makes! Everything looks so wellmade and beautiful, in fact your whole video is beautiful and well made (as always) ☺️ I love your estetics! Piping is such a nice detail, I have used it now and then making cushions for my shop and also along the raglan seams on sweaters. Do you make your own piping or do you buy ready made? I usually make my own with self cut biasbinding or strips of jersey for the sweaters. I have this idea of making piping out of old silk ties, I think that would look stunning! They are sewn on the bias so it’s ”just” a matter of taking them appart and carefully wash them. They cost next to nothing in charity shops. But I haven’t got round to it yet 😊

      @SecretLifeOfASeamstress  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much I’m really pleased to hear you like my makes and enjoy the videos :) I haven’t made my own piping yet, it just seems an extra effort haha. I do make my own binding for projects though so it’s silly really. That sounds a wonderful idea with the silk scarves that would be some beautiful piping!! Thanks for watching xx

    Interesting video and lovely makes. I am not a competent knitter so have stuck to simple scarves. I was interested to hear about blocking too and would like to know more about it

    • @SecretLifeOfASeamstress
      @SecretLifeOfASeamstress  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much! Blocking is something I’m still learning about - I’d never even heard of it before the days of Instagram!! It does make a difference though. I’ve only just properly got into knitting garments over this last few years before I stuck to baby clothes etc when my children were little. Thank you for watching xx

  • @susanknight1784
    @susanknight1784 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve just got into knitting but I’m a bit confused about blocking. Do you do it after you have sewn it up or before? It would be nice if you did a video on it . Loved all you makes 💕

    • @SecretLifeOfASeamstress
      @SecretLifeOfASeamstress  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you can do it either way. With garments I’ve sewn together and then blocked but with the snood it actually said to block before sewing. I guess it’s personal preference in the end. I’m not sure I have enough experience yet to do a video but maybe in the future 😊 Thank you for watching I’m glad you like what I’ve made x

    Hi Sally the knitting kit what size would you recommend for size 14 to 16 more like a 14.

    • @SecretLifeOfASeamstress
      @SecretLifeOfASeamstress  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have a look on the site they have a size guide and it’s based on bust measurements etc rather than sizing so it might be best if you check there first. I hope that helps 😊 x
