    All your makes look very beautiful, professional, classy and understated. You could put a channel and drawstring on the tee shirt dress or just take it in a little near the waist. Nothing is a fail, just repurpose it into something else.

      Yes that’s a good idea thank you! I’ll definitely do something with this to ensure the fabric doesn’t go to waste. I’m glad you like the makes and thank you for watching xx

    I think that you have a great talent for choosing exactly the right fabric for each pattern. Your makes turned out fabulous, all of which were very tasteful. I absolutely loved the fabric you chose for the Saltwater slip dress. It’s a shame that you had a fail, but you’ve learned so much from it, that it’s not time wasted. You took the pluses and the negatives which will see you through on your sewing journey.

      Thanks so much that’s very kind. For the saltwater it’s the first time I’ve used a viscose linen like that and it was lovely to work with. So true about the fail, everything is a learning experience isn’t it, thank you for watching x

    I would recommend small dots of Velcro for the bear’s clothes.

    You did a great job. The pink and white would be a fun beach coverup.

    Love your videos and all your makes.
    Regarding the bias binding, I've seen the process of sewing it to the inside of the garment and then folding it to the right side and top stitching the binding edge on the right side...no missing the binding with this method.

      Oh thank you for that, yes that would be similar to how I bind my quilts and does give a neat finish thank you for the suggestion and for watching xx

    That Scout Tee looks similar to the No 1 blouse by 100 Acts of Sewing, barring the set in sleeves. It looks great on you!

    Aww that bear is adorable 😍, I love the little dungarees. I enjoy sewing up toys too. Your simple Ogden Camis and scout tee are lovely and I'm sur you'll get loads of wear from them. Love your saltwater slip, it gives me the 90s vibe. I'll make one next year. For the stripey dress you could add a drawstring waist like the Tabitha t-shirt dress xx

    Maybe you could try your "fail" in a small scale stripe in a much smaller size.

  • @janicecalouro9497
    @janicecalouro9497 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Do you think you could use the bottom half after you cutoff the t shirt and make an elastic waist skirt. If you have a solid t shirt for top part would not look candy striper. Could also narrow up skirt slightly if its to loose for your taste. Otherwise would be a good nightgown. If bottom half is wide enough could be a tank top instead so to save your failure.

    Do a narrow shoulder adjustment on your shirts. Very very easy. I have to do it often, up to an inch on some patterns. 😊

    Lovely makes Sally and thanks so much for showing your slight fail - it's made me feel better after a complete disaster of my own (but mine was a write odd!) Have you heard about form tape interfacing from Prym? You iron it on instead of stay stitching. I have always used it for the Ogdem cami because I have been too scared to stay stitch on slippery fabrics but it works really well. I got the tip from Guthrie and Ghani and I'm sure Lauren has a video on it if you were interested x

    • @SecretLifeOfASeamstress
      @SecretLifeOfASeamstress  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh thanks so much I've never heard of that so I'll have a look! I'm sure there must be a tool for everything haha. Thank you so much for watching, I'm sorry to hear of your own disaster but hopefully you'll move on better for it :) x

    Your sewing makes are beautiful specially the wide leg pants. Yes we learn from our fails, I've made guite a few. Now that the weather is getting cooler i seem to have more energy. I don't know when I will finish the high low hem t-shirt, but eventually I will.

    Love your makes Sally especially the scout tee ❤. You’ve made me realise that quality basics are also something missing in my wardrobe too. I need work trousers so I’m currently attempting the True Bias Lander pants - just praying for a good fit! X

    Sally, Thank you for telling us about the bear pattern in your previous video. I purchased the pattern to make the three bears for my granddaughter for Christmas. Concerning the striped dress...have you considered trying it with a belt to give it some shape. You could make it knee length as well. Thank you for the video.

      I’m sure you’ll have great fun sewing them up for your granddaughter they will make a lovely gift :) I did try the dress with a belt it still didn’t look quite right but I’ll use it as a cover up or re-fashion into a t shirt I think. Thank you for watching x

    I love your style, everything is so coordinated and beautifully made.
    I’d be tempted to wear the stripy dress as a nightgown! With the heating bills being so high you might need a nice long cosy nightdress 😊

    I love the palazzo pants! You'll find them very useful I'm sure. I'm a big fan of the Scout Tee too, but I agree with you on the shoulders - it's not something I'd really noticed till you pointed it out. Maybe a narrow shoulder adjustment would work? I have also given up using their pattern piece for the neck binding and use ready made bias binding instead. It saves a lot of fabric too, as the bias piece takes up a lot of space.

    • @SecretLifeOfASeamstress
      @SecretLifeOfASeamstress  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes maybe that would work. I’m not sure it bothers me too much having worn the top a bit since but I suppose it would be good to get it right. I might try shop bought next time too or a contrast binding would be nice. Thank you for watching xx

    Thanks for sharing your makes Sally! I love the Tyra pants and I’d like to make some of these myself as they look so comfy. The bear soft toy is adorable and I’m sure your daughter just loves it, especially with outfits that can be made for it😃 I enjoy making soft toys for a change ssome times and donate them to local kids charities.

    Beautiful makes Sally. Love the quality fabrics. I need to make some basics to wear under cardigans. Would you be able to try a ready made belt on the tee shirt dress to give more shape, it is a lovely pink.

    • @SecretLifeOfASeamstress
      @SecretLifeOfASeamstress  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much! Just a necessity really aren’t they and not always such ‘fun’ to sew. I did try a belt it didn’t help 🙈 I’m tempted to keep it as a beach cover up to be honest. Thank you so much for watching xx

    Fabulous makes, I’ve just purchased the Teddy pattern after watching your vlog. Did you use the recommended Essex Linen? I think the best T shirt dress pattern out there is definitely the Deer and Doe Givre. I’ve made several for my two granddaughters aged 26 & 29 and they always look fabulous. Your such a fabulous seamstress I’m sure you’ll be able to do something with it. Xxx

    • @SecretLifeOfASeamstress
      @SecretLifeOfASeamstress  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much! I’ve seen the Givre pattern and yes it does look lovely I’ll have to add that to my list. For the teddy bear I used some linen look cotton that I’ve had for ages because I used it in my Etsy shop for cushions. I think any sort of linen look without stretch would work well I hope you enjoy making it xx

    Nice video! I love the trousers! All your makes. The tee dress is not so bad, I think making it into a tee would work fine. Some of the tee dress patterns have some shaping for the waistline, that might help your dress version, or even adding some elastic to the waist? But really, not such a huge fail, you gained some insights into fitting for yourself and what you feel comfortable in! ❤️ Take care!
