I remembered watching this episode today. Back then growing up in the 1970s and 1980s my mom and dad set rules. IF you live here you go by the rules and dance by my music. It was reasonable rules. Actually having someone live with you will increase your bills. Her mom likely would have a one bedroom and cheaper rent. My mom lived with me for about a year although I didn’t ask her to move in. I didn’t charge her rent because I always rent places with a spare bedroom. She Just had to pay half of the utilities because they doubled when she got there. I gave her rules and her money didn’t negate those rules. It was MY place. She was not on the lease.

The daughter was living with her grandparents and being ugly to them before her mom invited her to live with her. The daughter probably had grandparents who supplemented her income. Actually having someone live with you will increase your bills. Her mom likely would have a one bedroom and cheaper rent. My mom lived with me for about a year although I didn’t ask her to move in. I didn’t charge her rent because I always rent places with a spare bedroom. She Just had to pay half of the utilities because they doubled when she got there. I gave her rules and her money didn’t negate those rules. It was MY place. She was not on the lease.
