Arroz con gandules is fabulous with everything... pollo asado, pernil, chuletas. We (puertoricans) don't eat the rice with the pique/ hot sauce but if you like it that way,go for it. Glad you guys like it.
The first restaurant that they went to called Bebo's, in San Juan was my husband's favorite restaurant. We used to eat there often. He died three months ago.
There's a lot to eat we have some good food and it's worth trying most things sadly there's not many Puertorican restaurants in the US so I too would have to go back there to see my family and also eat some good homemade food

So enjoyed your video . Found a new restaurant I’m wanting to try and you gave me a hint of what to order . Can’t wait looks so good ! Will be watching ❤️
Hello my favorite travelers!! Yessss... you guys are right. You can't go to Puerto Rico and not have mofongo. Mofongo is always made with green plantain. It is cut in pieces and fried...then mashed and you add crushed garlic, pork rinds (optional). Since mofongo can be dry, it always goes perfect with some type of meat with sauce. It makes the mofongo very moist. Now the stuffed cups that you had at the first restaurant were made of green plantains too. They are made the same way as the mofongo, but shaped in cups as appetizers. We can also use it yucca or breadfruit. The pink sauce used for dipping is Mayoketchup and it's a little spicy because we add crushed fresh garlic. You guys are totally right that we don't like spicy food at once, instead we have the condiments on the side or the homemade hot sauce to add as we eat. This gives the opportunity to people who don't like or tolerate spicy food to enjoy their meal. I was so excited watching this video, because I am taking my family for Christmas and New Years to the island. Keep traveling....I travel through your eyes!!! Hugss!!
Daribella's Journey what an amazing comment! Thank you 😀 and wow such great info on mofongos. The food in PR is so so good. It’s blowing us away! We also can’t believe we’re your favourite travellers! Yay! - Anna
Hi guys. Im puertorican but i live in Michigan. Im on vacations in Puerto Rico and recommend you to drink malta, piña colada and mabí. Amazing puertorican drinks.

And I wanna say I really love to see when my fellow white brothers and sisters show interest and get to know and enjoy our culture. It's a beautiful thing to see, I hope you guys enjoyed the island and definitely the food. And my heart melted when he tried to say "bacalaitos" 🤣🤣 next time you guys go I would recommend to visit Pinones which is an area where they have a strip in front of the beach with lots of local little places that sell fried fritters and foods, so many different ones, and sea food, they are so cheap and so delicious you can eat and drink beer all day and spend little. Also I would recommend to find an old school old fashioned restaurant in the mountains where they cook the old fashioned way on what we call a "fogon" foh-gohn, so the food is basically cooked over a fire how they use to cook in the past, totally delicious and better than anything, you definitely need to try it, but find the right spot.
Loved this video. Makes me a little homesick. When you're in Old San Juan, please try a piragua from the cart. Cherry is the best flavor in my opinion. :)
I had so much fun trying different kinds of Puerto Rican foods while there a few months ago. You guys did a good job 👍 One of my favorite experiences was at Deaverdura in Old San Juan; the wait was really long, but the owner was so sweet and gave me a couple shots of PR rum to apologize. She then brought out my order, which was a large sampler platter full of traditional foods. The only one that didn't go down well was the black sausage, but the rest was oh so good! I wound up buying some of that rum to bring home ♥️
Mofongo made is with green plantains....my fav Boricua dish but with a garlic lime mojito sauce. There's wooden kiosk in Arecibo right next to the entrance of Cueva Ventana they make the best Mofongo hands down- crispy & semi mooshed at the same time. Great video guys.

To the Travellers: If you're looking for places to eat next time you visit, try Guavate. It's on the outskirts of Guayama. You'll really enjoy the types of food they have there.
You Guys went to the perfect place to eat. I got all the time there to have lunch. I work in the metro area and this is the place to go. In the 80's down the street to the left there was a pub called Shannon's...I you think you like La Placita you would love this place. It was an Irish pub and I use to get so packed that people were gagging out on the street.
Actually, the tostones can be seen at 4:07, right beyond Anna's hand on another plate. Tostones are, indeed, fried green plantain slices that have been flattened after frying. What you were trying was more than likely a chicken fricasee.

La proxima vez que coman empanadillas. Mejor comprenlo en la calle y no en los restaurantes por que el sabor y la forma como las preparan no es igual 😂❤
We'll keep that in mind. Thanks! - Anna
I’m commenting on your first meal. It’s not potatoes it’s plantain first cooked and the it’s fried . Very good!
To the Travellers: If you're looking for places to eat next time you visit, try Guavate. It's on the outskirts of Guayama. You'll really enjoy the types of food they have there.
Thanks! We'll put that on our list for when we return - Anna
My beautiful Puerto Rico 🇵🇷❤️, the mofongo it’s the best here and the arroz con gandulez uff... so tasty 😋.

We really give the cheese empanadas to kids as a snack. The empanadas with the meat are more for like meals.

Delightful Travellers I’m going next week and it’s what I’m going to eat first 😁, I liked your video, good restaurants I’ve never seen before
You Guys went to the perfect place to eat. I got all the time there to have lunch. I work in the metro area and this is the place to go. In the 80's down the street to the left there was a pub called Shannon's...I you think you like La Placita you would love this place. It was an Irish pub and I use to get so packed that people were gagging out on the street.
So good to know that we're doing it right Eduardo. That pub sounds like our kind of thing as well. Thanks for watching - Trevor
Spicy 🌶? Our food 🥘 is not spicy 🌶 you have to add the spicy 🌶 😆
That's what we said. - Trevor
You HAVE to go to Guavate, Cayey. You’ll find the best pork-and other traditional dishes- there!
It's on our list!
Try the mofongo with shrimps it has a different sauce name "salsa criolla" it tastes sooooo good
Sounds good but we don’t eat shrimp 🍤
itzzericv2 I love mofongo with shrimp and that sauce
Had a decent paella right there on Bebos... $20, pretty big dish. They also have sone under $10 really nice local dishes... Carne guisada, Ufff yummy.
We're glad we picked that place for our first stop! - Anna
Actually, the tostones can be seen at 4:07, right beyond Anna's hand on another plate. Tostones are, indeed, fried green plantain slices that have been flattened after frying. What you were trying was more than likely a chicken fricasee.
That's look great! But if you move to some diferents tipes of "restaurants" there's not so expensive. Well you need to move a little bit out of touristic area! But great , great food! I'm Puertorriqueña and I'm a chef.... love my food!!
❤❤❤ Our food is the best!! lot a flavor!!! the best !! We know how to cook!! 😂🤷♀️🇵🇷🇵🇷😜
