This week we're getting the lifted K10 squaredbody back out on the road! We get under the hood to finish out our 6.0 LS swap with a cold air intake, and make some adjustments to our retro Holley valve covers. With a little cutting they can fit nicely with all of our ICT billet accessory brackets. With the engine bay all taken care of, we get the truck up on the lift to make some modifications to our shift linkage. With a stock column and a new 4L80 transmission, we had to make some tweaks to be able to get the shifter through the full range of motion. While we were under the truck, we pulled apart our rear differential and traded out the Detroit locker for something a little more mild, so the truck is more comfortable taking turns on the street. We also threw in our new driveshafts so this truck could finally hit the road again. Before we took it down the street, we had to get our brand new TMI interior put in this squarebody. We laid down some restomod sound deadener and a fresh carpet as a foundation for the modern leather bench seat. Once we had our seat and belts installed, we bolted on our matching door panels and dash pad, and took this truck out for its first shake down. This 6.0 LS swapped Chevy K10 drove like a dream! Our RTX gauges worked like a charm; showing all of our motor metrics in the proper operating ranges. The new differential made it more enjoyable turning corners, and our new rear gear set made traveling at higher speeds with our 38" tires no problem at all. We know we told y'all we'd be taking this truck out in the mud. AND WE WILL! We just have to wait for our matching front differential gears to come in so we can have a working 4 wheel drive. But since this truck is so close to leaving the shop for good; it seemed like a good time to bring in a whole new project! Let us know what you want to see us do to this 1970s GMC Vandura! And check back next week to see what we're doing to keep the patina look without having the van rust away in the south Florida climate!

Steering wheel upside down would drive me crazy
Such an easy fix also I don’t know who so many people don’t fix it
I would think an updated steering wheel would be in order
I got used to it and then straightened it out when I swapped out the steering shaft
I always liked the steering wheels from the 88-92 GMs. Miss my 89 1500.
Thought the same thing. It's the small details that matter most.
Beautiful interior.
Love how you actually got tires on the truck, not those stupid looking rubber bands on 26" wheels or something.
This truck's meant to go off roading!
same, he kept a truck functional as a truck. not some pavement princess
I miss back when we could just compliment peoples builds without shitting all over other peoples. Just enjoy what you enjoy and stop shitting all over everyone else
@@chriswaynegerlach I know right! How often do you see a truck with 0 cargo? 99% of the time. How often do you see a tahoe/suburban with 9 people inside? Rarely. "Uh but aren't they meant to be functional??" Jeeps never see dirt either lmao so calm down Max and MGM :)
@@Amberligma7296 what does “functional as a truck” mean exactly?
Seeing all those old trucks and cars being saved and reused makes me smile.
Saved is a strong, strong word to use with restomods....
I actually owned an 87 one of these in black in highschool in the 90s. Manual trans with glass packs. Looked just like this one. Changed out the gas tank, did speakers ,added a CD player tint. Lots of misc stuff. This brought back memories. Love what you guys did with this. Interior is awesome. This thing should be preserved in a museum. All of them up north rusted out long ago. Somebody really loves this truck to be sinking this much work into it. I enjoyed mine but comparing it to the AT4 I have now it was like a model T with 33s if we’re going to be honest. Lol. In 35 years it’s amazing what has changed. Granted the price of that old 87 wouldn’t cover the tax on a new one but I traveled many states in it. Wouldn’t call it comfortable by todays standards but was alright. God how time flies.
This one definitely has some sentimental value to the owner! We plan on doing a build update and showing it ripping off road once we get some time freed up from our other projects!
It’s sweet but I honestly think those old springboard bench seats are the most comfortable seats around
For short rides probably. My old worn out 72 f250 bench was my favorite to-date. Still going full modern out of a junk yard when i cam find one.
Well you're wrong lol
No lol, my bench gets uncomfortable very easy in my C10
@@sullythepankake9663 idk about the old Chevy bench seats but my brick nose ford is like sitting on a frikin cloud
Yeah I agree. Even mine with a horse blanket on it as a cover lol is way more comfortable to me than anything else
Just want to say, I absolutely love that you put smaller rims and bigger tires on that. Old trucks don’t look good with these new big rims. Love that you kept it classic
You’re right cup holders make a truck look modern
We have a 1983 Square Body K10. It needs restored. It sat for 11 years. I want to do this same exact thing to it. I’m in love with this truck.
Awesome truck, he's going to wish he replaced the rear drum brakes with disk brakes.
lol. The interior was actually one of the things I liked most about those trucks
Love the quick Public Enemy reference during the speaker explanation.
I got my 1982 K5 when I turned 30..well in to raising kids and trying to make enough to get by..we barley did most of the time but we never begged or got assistance to pay bills ect. Seeing this trucks makeover brings me to tears and makes me wonder if it was worth keeping it from someone with money to be able to treat it rite..im happy I never gave e it away..it still has a long way to go. I will probably run out of time before the K5. I loved your vid..thanks
Great choice on those interior upgrades! This Square Body is looking fresh!
We're loving this leather!
Where can I find interior
It's so cool that you guys manage to cram so much into a video that's only 16 minutes & 37 seconds long, yet none of it's boring!
We try our best! Thanks for all your support!
Saw 8gv0g000
This. This is what my dream truck is to a freaking T I’ve had it in my head for years
Really enjoy everything you guys do, your attention to detail and cleanliness are top notch. Thanks for letting us in on the little things at the end of making something driveable. That last 15% usually takes up the most time. Kudos to the videographer as well!
Thank you so much! It always feels like that last stretch of work always takes the longest too! (Probably because we know it's so close to hitting the road)
attention to detail is pretty good, but the steering wheel is upside down
I love these older model chevys my dad had an 88 and 86 over the years and i remember my dad taking me to school in it sometimes. Uncle had a k10.
Love this truck, ive been wanting a locker forever so embarrassing doing 1 tire fire burnouts
Truck looks & sounds fantastic!! (Don’t forget to flip the steering wheel 180) 😉
Hopefully it gets replaced
The steering looks very loose, I upgraded my 91 keep to a one ton heim joint Parallel bar steering. Tightened it up nice
there aint nothing basic about this LS swap! Andrew is a Stud!
This is actually the truck I have always wanted. Love to see it!
Love these trucks. So simple to work on. Glad to see people still building them.
We got a whole new k10 project we just launched! You should check that one out too!
these trucks are so beautiful. nice work saving this one and keeping it true to its roots
Glad you like it!!
Look into the crossover steering modification for these square bodies. It will really help with the steering being all over the place. Truck looks great!
All my lifted squares get XOver
Awesome build, great editing and production, overall quality video. My dad had one when I was a kid and it just so happens to be the year I was born. I remember we lived in the country and he would set me on his lap and control the peddles while I steered (prob thought I was steering lol) the wheel. That being said, this has now become a dream truck of mine that I will now look into and own one day. Pops is since passed when I was 21 so this would be a great way to cherish his memory. RIP Dad🙏
That's an awesome memory! You should check out the new gold K10 build we're doing. The owner of the truck has a very similar story, which is why he sent it over to use to work on. I think you'd like that series!
I wish i could afford to have you guys give my 66 f100 shortbed that same treatment! Take care guys, hope your week is going good!
You should check out our F100 playlist! We did a complete frame off build on a 1973 ranger on the channel!
The OBS steering wheels bolt right in and will add to the more modern look without going to some cheap looking aftermarket.
To protect an extra fuel filter under the chassis of my sleeper Volvo (5 cyl Turbo)..i used a triangular stainless steel pasta 'drainer' i found at a pro kitchen appliance store..when I saw it , I knew it had the perfect triangle shape & size I was looking for to fit perfectly in that spot..if you go to these stores ,many stainless kitchen & cooking ustensiles could be used when doing a vehicle build..!!..love how you guys find ideas to fix & create better parts..greets from France..
Inspiration for my 79 Sierra Grande ¾ ton. Interior upgrade like that looks minty fresh.
Go for it! We love these interiors from TMI! Check out the one we did in the F100 too!
Awesome video! Might be too late for the head unit but! For my square body I really wanted a big touch screen but there's really no good place to put it without going completely custom like the EV truck.
Untill I came across this Joying 11.6" single Din head unit. The reason I like it is beause you can buy an extention cable and remotely mount the screen, then tuck the rest of the unit in the dash. I was planning on putting the screen over the center vent. The part number is JY-UQS11N4G, joying isn't quite as good as a Kenwood or pioneer but shoulders above most of the overseas brands.
Thanks for the heads up!! There are also a few single din set ups that have a fold out screens as well. We were just trying to keep the interior super simple!
The truck sounds amazing and that interior is lit🔥
It came together so well! The only thing left to do is rip it off road!
I'm about to order the same color kit with white stitch in my 81 trucks going into paint in a couple weeks. It's getting sprayed white nice and sanitary. Has a fresh turbocharged 454 22×12's on 33's and is for sale after its dyno'd and I get a couple thousand miles on it.
5 seconds into the video and I already know it's gonna be good.
I know I am repeating myself but I like what you guys do.... a lot!
Feel free to repeat yourself as much as you want! We love the support. Thank you so much!
Beautiful engine setup and everything to be putting hose water in...
So miss my square body, 76 3/4 ton Camper Special. 400 cu inch.
LS power with those tires will have you finding the limit of those half ton axles real quick
tigged in a fitting on the intake, then used a junk ass rubber boot to connect two pieces... mind blowing.
Yo!! Been watching you guys since the beginning of the Tesla C10! Wednesdays are always looked forward to over here!
Love to hear that! Thank you for all the support!
Great video guys! I love to see these, there just down right awesome. You guys knock it out of the park on making great content for us out here. What I love is the fact you are keeping the build, the passion and the dream alive out here! God Bless You Guys and rOCK ON!!!!!! Thank You!!!!!!
Thank you so much! We really appreciate the support!
Here for the squarebody.
She's definitely a good looking squarebody!
The center console is nice!
TMI makes a killer interior!
The lower center console is perfect I totally agree!
Nice interior, on the axles I wouldn't have spent a dime on halftime axles myself I just did a 14 Volt and a 44 in mine or you could go 14-volt 60 or whatever in the back and just swap the outers on the front
That steering play while driving straight!! Lifted life....haha!
It’s not done correctly. Shouldn’t be that much play in the steering.
The truck is turning out so badass. And what better truck to customize than a square body! Loving this build guys and that interior is awesome, a lot more modern feel I'm sure. Also can't wait to see what's in store for the van, anything you guys touch turns out amazing so I can only imagine at this point. Van Life lol. Keep up the awesome work and I'm already looking forward to the next S2S video!
Thanks for all the support Kenny! Any suggestions for the van? We're trying to cook up some cool ideas!
There is so many possibilities with a van lol. Would be cool to see alot of power, do a upgraded V8, trans, and rear end swap if you keep it 2wd. Maybe a chopped top? Big sound system? Chill pad in the back for shows? Make a slam van out of it lol. I know you guys have a few lowered builds already, but there's also the option of an off-road build, give it a lift and 4x4 conversion, with some big tires. Either way it's gotta have a LS swap lol. I know whatever you guys come up with is gonna be awesome.
Wow man that interior is kicking ass
Thanks!
No biggie where y'all located at?
Those seats are pro af
I miss my Chevy 4x4 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
We ain’t late this week! Let’s get it💪
Right on time Zac! Great to see you back!
That k1500 is coming along nicely. Looking forward to some off road videos. That van is going to be serious, i know it
This truck makes us want to put the van on a set of 35s!
@@SalvagetoSavage do it!!! I agree with that level of ignorance lol
I almost pulled the trigger on a TMI interior when I did my c10. At the time they were brand new and not much was known so I stayed safe and customized the stock seat and panels. But man now they have been out several years they are looking good 👍
If you're planning on redoing your interior down the road, they're definitely worth it! We haven't gotten a set yet that we weren't impressed with
@@SalvagetoSavage I gotta say it so you did the Tesla swapped slammed square body now the ls swapped lifted square body next we need a Tesla swapped lifted on bloggers square body maybe 4door dually ooh or a short bed 2 door dually ooooohhhh🤤just sayin bro love the content Silverado cyber truck or a lifted dilorean
Interior looks good. Glad yall just updated the factory look and didn't try and retro fit new chevy parts into it.
We like the classic look! That's why we went with that TMI interior. They have this way of making these modern seats and trim that still feels like the era of the truck
@@SalvagetoSavage yeah those seats were perfect. Modern yet classic
Rad truck, spot on conversion. That interior and system is mint.
Thank you! Glad you like it!
This is literally my dream come true I wish I had the funds to have this done to my 96 square body 😫
Just tackle it one small bit at a time!
Man wish I could bring mine out and have yall redo it. Really nice job!!
Maybe one day! We love working on these squarebodies!
A-Team Van? Tesla motors? Can’t wait to see next week! Lol
What a sweet truck, looks like the steering wheel is off 180.
There's always one...
Ignores all the work done, comments something stupid like this.
@@darrenchesterton6410 get over yourself.
The steering wheel is actually correct. It's the truck that's upside down.
i have a bunch of rust free square bodies but i got one that is a 79 cheyenne short box 4x4 full option truck with a 400/400 turbo only 35,000 miles on it 100% stock got it for free same with all the parts trucks i have all are in the 70's
You're sitting on a gold mine right there!!
When it comes to GM square bodies, I've always preferred the smaller S10. But, man, this full-size is just a beautiful specimen.
black looks great on square bodys
Sure does!!
Awesome work, this shop is kick ass! Someday I'll have the extra cash to do this to my k20!
We'll be looking forward to the day it rolls in here! Thanks for all the support!
can i call dibs on the old door panels lol awesome work guys
Thank you! And I think those panels have already been scavenged
How much does it cost to do all of those upgrades? I love the truck looks so sick!!
I priced out that version of the seats with TMI and they want $3600 and it doesn’t even include the bracket! But the truck looks insane with the work you guys did.
Breakfast and S2S......gunna be a good day!!!
Whatcha have for breakfast bud
I hope it's chicken and waffles!
Santiagos Breakfast Burrito(hot) and and a Monster energy drink!!!!
on my K30 I covered the radio with a radio delete panel and just used a NVX bluetooth controller knob to stream music. trying to get away from headhunts
The bluetooth modules are cool, but the customer was looking for a full radio head unit for this one!
Those axles are really going to like the new power and gearing.🤯
I'd love to hear what is up with the Thunderbird on the rack @ 14:19. I have a similar one and would be stoked to see y'all upgrade and/or restore it.
That one's getting some tasteful work done to update it. It won't be too crazy, but we'll give y'all a peek at that one soon!
Very nice and now its time to take care of the steering issues!!🤠👍
I appreciate the video! I have a 82 c10 was wondering what the tmi company was and also about where the interior came from as well, really looking to get some advice or help.
We love using the TMI stuff. We used it on our F100 project too!
Interior is gorgeous!
thank you!
I miss my 68 GMC truck so damn much. Would of loooooooved to LS swap that red beauty. Time machine needed 😞
really enjoyed this video! you guys did awesome on this k10. is it possible to be able to get a similar set up for my 1984 GMC sierra classic?
Yeah definitely! Check out the TMI website. They have a ton of different styles for a bunch of classic trucks
Paint the van in some fancy colors, assemble a team (somebody has to play the dog 🐶) and then it's off to solving some misteries! 😂😁😇
Kyle and Khalel are definitely the Shaggy/Scooby combo! lol
I put a Vortec 6 L in my 79 square body. Good choice all around.
Wish I had the money to have someone build my truck. Been building my 86 k10 for 3 years it’s no where near this nice
But you get all the stories from working on it yourself! Everyone at the shop has a personal project they've been dragging out forever. Don't worry though, It will get there!
Looks and sounds good. Only thing that bothers me is the steering wheel is off by 180 degrees upside down.
Rad build man. I like the direction you went. Regarding seat upgrade, do you feel a noticeable difference vs the stock bench? My old bench seat is killing my neck and back so I'm looking towards an upgrade as well.
Definitely a bit more support than the stock seat! They also have bucket seat options that might be even closer to what you're looking for!
I gotta have those seats for mine....those old door panels would be nice lol...i nearly have the same truck except R10 model n still the orignal bkue
Y'all havin' some fun. Love it. K10 looks sweet.
Hi from Perth, Western Australia
Love to see you guys watching across the water! Thanks for the support!
I justed used the factory 8l80 cable and build a mount for shifter on fire wall. Looks good though
It's Van-tastic!!
I can't wait to see what you guys do to this one...👍👍👍
We got some plans in mind for it, but would love to know what y'all would like to see done to it!
@@SalvagetoSavage my thoughts are keep it original on the outside (keep the jelly bean style wheels etc.) but give the inside similar treatment to the square body. In the rear I think you should go with a minimalistic living quarters, nothing to fancy, just somewhere you wouldn't mind crashing out for a night or two. and give her some modern LS power for reliability.
Option B would be 4x4 LS conversion with a nice lift kit.....that thing would look crazy cool. Nudge bar on the front, mount a heap of lights on that and the roof......man, so much you could do with this, and with the skills your shop has, the options are limitless.
Its definitely a cool van! looking forward to this build!
Another subscriber from across the pond in Australia.
awesome job all! 🖤🖤 i can’t wait for the van build!
We're putting a mini fridge and a bed back there so Kyle has a place to nap at car shows!
@@SalvagetoSavage yess! we all know
the fridge is the most important part bc he can get a nap in anywhere.
Great video! That truck turned out sicccck. Well done
Glad you liked it!!
Best K10 bilt ever love the truck dream truck 💯💯💯💯💯
Glad you like it!!!
Does the digital gauges have a transmission indicator? Modifying the shift linkage is going to screw up the position of the stock indicator.
Love how this came out. Wish my square looked that good. Is LS swap worth it now that gas is higher. Still running 350 well 355 and I wish it was bit more but keeping the gas price down a little
Not really because the max you get with a LS is about 15 mpg unless you get it tuned for fuel efficiency. The choice is yours though but if your square body is all original I'd keep the 350 in it
Keep that shit original and take pride in it! Nothing worse than seeing an old classic molested and turned into a douche canoe
Get some crossover steering for that big beauty and some new joints, she’ll run down straight as an arrow. Nice lesson for the next video. :)
A sweet build! proud of you'll!
Thanks so much for all the support!
dang i thought mavis was a local tire shop near me.. didn't know it was a larger chain
Probably franchises. So even though they're a chain, they might still be locally owned and operated
@@SalvagetoSavage yeah they have taken all the different locations of a hometown, 1-owner tire shop that has been here my whole life. its a bit sad.
Not a mechanic but I enjoy your videos. Great job😎🇫🇷
Thanks so much! Hopefully we give you the confidence to tackle some of your own projects every now and then!
That's a damn good looking truck.
Thanks! We love these squarebodies!
Y’all going to be at Charlotte speedway this weekend
Too far of a trek for us this time unfortunately! :(
@@SalvagetoSavage 🥲
If I get another C or K series I'd really like to do that interior upgrade by TMI.
They do a killer job with their interiors!
Looks nice. I like them door panels. Not real hot on they dash though
Just got an 84 c10. Looking for a modern adjustable seat setup because im so short lol
seems like alot of flex in that throttle cable mount no issues of that bending when they get excited on the throttle?
No. The set up should be sturdy enough!
@@SalvagetoSavage sweet thanks man!
ITS ACUTALLY CALLED A V10 THAT YEAR!
man I love this channel
We love that you love it! Thanks for all the support!
I have an 82 C10 Silverado I’m slowly getting ready. What suspension lift does this bad boy have.
