- Today we have to get the chicken coop cleaned out. We are using the bucket on the TYM 2515H. This machine has become extremely useful around the farm.

Nice job mike, nothing beats fresh farm eggs!
Yes sir Mr Tony. I sure enjoy having them around
#1 Okie I am 🤪
We put lime or barn lime in the coops and don't have any problems with mites.
Hey Mr Todd. I have hear of people using lime before as well. I was drawing a blank during filming. Lime is alot cheaper than seven dust. Thanks for being here
@@TheRustyGarageandHomestead I've used seven dust when we did have some mites also and some times poultry dust once in a while in the nesting boxes , but we just use the lime as a preventative measure and haven't had any in 10 years or so.
@toddcaskey9984 that's great. Knock on wood we haven't had any in several years. I actually don't remember having any in this coop. Our old coop I remember getting them once.
Morning Mike! Jason is all too familiar with shoveling poop! He says you've got the right shovel for it! His favourite! Have a great day! ✌️🇨🇦🇺🇸
Hey thanks you too. I do prefer a larger scoop shovel for this kind of thing lol. You all summer is going to end soon. you already for the next season?
@@TheRustyGarageandHomestead nope! Hahaha. But we'll figure it out. We always do! 😁 How about you?
I have a couple fans in 2 windows in mine. I’d suggest throwing one in one of your openings to help that dust get out. Also in the heat I keep both fans on. Another idea. Put that roost on a hinge on the wall and strap it up while cleaning. Great video!
Great Ideas Matt. Definitely lots of improving I can do. Thank you
Gotta love cleaning the coop
Good video, thanks!
@melkingrealestate thank you Mel.
New subscriber here where a TH-cam channel from Pittsburgh PA just getting into the chickens trying to get some pointers 😂
@fatefarmspa hey Fate Farms. I'll check you out. I'm no expert on chickens but we have had chickens most of my life. They are nice to keep around.
@@TheRustyGarageandHomestead we finally are getting eggs from ours pretty cool to eat off our own animals 👍
Proud of you Mike, congrats on your sub bump. Keep cuttin' brother!
Thanks Travis.
Hey Mike. Great video. I always learn something from you and your great channel.
Mr Kenny I appreciate that. Thank you for being here friend. Is it starting to turn cold up where you're at?
@@TheRustyGarageandHomestead it should be getting cooler but for some strange reason we are warm and humid. Hottest summer I can remember.
@OpenAirAdventure Mr Kenny it's hot here too. Upper 90's all week
Chicken coop cleaning is definitely messy work
At least it's pretty dry and light. Compared to mess from the other girls anyway.
Gotta play the wind when ya take theirs out to spread too.
That fan blowing in or out? Must be in or you'd have turned it on when cleaning.
Sent a cow Wednesday because of her somatic count, curious (of course) what she brought. 12yrs old and was looking it. Hopefully it comes tomorrow. School taxes come next week, so it'll be well wasted.
yes, this stuff is dusty. doesn't stink as bad as the other girl's stuff either.
It blows in. usually just run this fan in the summertime to keep the hens cooler.
What is school taxes? Sounds awful.
@@TheRustyGarageandHomestead$4k +(for me, house and farm) that goes to the public school , plus federal and state $. And just like the Fed they piss a lot of it away because it's not theirs.
Bonus, my district takes all the special needs from all over. Saw a bus once from Naples which is a good hr away , and that adds greatly to the budget
So yes very awful. Property taxes little over half that, and they're high in my county.
Mike did you say you only clean the coop once a year?
Hey Scott, Yes sometimes it goes a longer but I try to get to it every year. Probably should be more frequent.
