Technically SpongeBob is clearly able to drive. The issue is that he gets too nervous when he takes the test. Hence why he was able to do the test when Patrick was giving him directions up until he confesses or when he was blindfolded. He is a lot more comfortable when he knows he doesn't have pressure on him. It's the reason why he can drive the pattymobile in the movie.

Early episodes, not later ones. Later ones show Patrick and SpongeBob being dumb and annoying beyond any reason. That and Squidward gets tortured for no reason.
This video is actually a really good example of Flanderization - when characters are boiled down from "person with a quirk" to "a single joke" Like how Krabs has become "I like money" and Patrick has become "Stupid and loud"
remember when krabs used to teach spongebob life lessons, had hobbies like fishing, and had an episode where he wanted to impress his navy buddies? He used to be more than just "money money money"
Krabs went from being the best character in the show into a one trait joke character. He used to teach SpongeBob lessons, genuinely respect him, and feel some amounts of guilt all to just becoming "Hi, I like money"

I love how in the one with the “krusty Krab pizza” at the end when the guy makes SpongeBob cry, squidward forcefully gives it to him ( throws it in his face” it really shows that even though squidward always shows his hatred towards SpongeBob, the deep down he really does care about him, and in another episode when he thinks that SpongeBob will die, he vows to give him the best final day of life, and at the time that SpongeBob was supposed to die, he even tears up in sadness. So even tho it doesn’t seem like it, squidward really does care for SpongeBob and doesn’t want him to actually die.
fun fact: the 24 joke was because cartoon network was channel 24 back then while nickelodeon was 25, so their "i thought of something funnier than 24..25" was subtle yet genius

While I admit Band Geeks is probably the best quality Spongebob episode over all the seasons, my personal favorite will always be Krusty Krab Training Video. It’s probably got the most quotes out of any episode, I mean sometimes I would just quote the entire episode in my head over the last 20 years.

I'm glad you mentioned how good season 4 was. I always hear people saying spongebob hasn't been good since season 3/the movie but I think they forget that season 4 had some bangers
TBH, I actually find season 4 better than season 1 actually. Because there's more enjoyable episodes in Season 4 like, Krusty towers, fear of a Krabby patty, Krabs vs plankton, etc. Season 1 is still a excellent season tho.
spongebob STILL has some bangers, but since they have already done so much they are running out of ideas so they throw out some filler episodes where flanderization takes over the characters, and then after awhile they finally let out a banger episode once again, and then it's back to filler, cause they are running out of ideas but they want to stay on track so they just throw out anything while they come up with the actual good ideas, like dirty bubble returns is a fairly new episode and it was decent, but then there is another new episode of which i forgot the name of where patrick gets a job at goofy goober's and only has the character trait of "glutton" and that's it
after season 3 the show kinda just goes down hill, with pretty much every season getting noticeably worse, this is why most consider up to the movie to be the best spongebob has to offer. I think plenty of episodes post season 3 are great, but by comparison, no season past season 3 can even compared to the original 3 seasons

ConnorTheWaffle did one on PowerPuff Girls including specials, Z and 2016 and that was good. Would recommend, though I’m aware not everyone likes his content. Wish I could do one on Dexter’s Laboratory or Problem Solverz(yes really, it’s not that bad), since I love both of those shows, and could talk about them for hours.
I always loved patchy episodes. To me patchy was a way for the watcher to feel among the quirky characters, he made everything seem like it was within our grasp. Like when he wrote to SpongeBob and never got a response but it was because the ink smeared when SpongeBob got it and he couldn't read it, it made SpongeBob feel more real and gave the show more character, it even gave the viewers a say on what happened in the episodes. I love the video, Patchy gets my respect, my man's, even now in my 20s he makes me happy as he brings back memories from the good old days!
I think the reason new Spongebob isn't good is due to Steven Hillenburg not being around. His work on the first 3 seasons and the first Movie gave it a unique and fun charm. Nowadays it's just "Plankton fails" "Squidward gets harassed" "Mr. Krabs being a jerk" "Everyone is dumb" and "Boating School" Back then, we would have Character Development. And TONS of funny jokes and banger songs.
Well Hillenberg came back for the Second movie and afterwards returning to the show as a story supervisor. He rejoined halfway in Season 9 and remained until his passing, which occurred during Season 12’s production (though how much of the season had been done before his death I can’t say).

The scene where Sandy says she's going to kick Spongebob's butt was always my favorite joke of The Great Snail Race, she says it because Spongebob calls Gary a lady to "humiliate and demean" him. As a lady, that made her mad - but she wasn't there so she didn't know why.
If Nathaniel saw that someone already did this, I can feel the pure pain there must've been to see that all the hours were basically gonna amount to people calling you a copycat. Massive respect for investing so much time into this for our entertainment (and money of course)
This video really helped me figure out EXACTLY when I stopped watching this show. I recognized every episode from seasons 1-8, then I knew maybe five in season 9, but after that I knew none of them. I kinda wanna watch all the stuff I missed now
Don't listen to the people above me. They are most likely under the assumption that SpongeBob's writing went the same direction that Family Guy, Fairly OddParents and The Simpsons did. I was under that impression myself until a few days ago. According to the SpongeBob Reddit community, it seems generally agreed upon that the show's quality is more like a reverse bell curve than a steady decline. Season 1-3: Golden Age Season 4-5: Rusting Age Season 6-9A: Dark Age Season 9B-14: Recovering Age Seasons 6-9 are generally agreed upon as being the worst. The second half of season 9 is when the quality began to increase, partially because the second movie came out, and I guess they felt like they had to try harder because there was new attention on the series, but also because its been well discussed what the makings of a good SpongeBob episode are on the internet, and the showrunners have looked into what people have said because its their job to make the show. There's still some stinkers, but on average, the newer seasons are actually quite consistently enjoyable. Don't believe me? Try these ones! I personally love Season 1 cuz that’s where most of the memes come from, the episodes are iconic, and the warm and homemade feel to the atmosphere of the season
One thing I always found surprising with Inmates of Summer was when I got older and found who voiced the warden, R Lee Ermey. The same guy who played the drill instructor in Full Metal Jacket. Watching the episode with that knowledge makes it a little different of an experience then before 😂

One thing I miss from the early seasons is how the Krusty Krab was originally a bit of a dive. Krabs was always looking for new gimmicks or what have you to drum up business. Sure, that still happens, but it feels unfounded when the Krusty Krab is regularly the most popular place in town.
Shanghaied is a bit mre complex than you think actually. Yes, now the Patchy scenes make absolutely no sense and could be taken off, but at the time, this was the spongebob episode viewers could call in or go online to vote who's ending would be won. There were three different endings, and obviously spongebob won. The other two are pretty funny, Patrick wishes for gum and everyone has minty fresh breath in the Dutchmans stomach, while Squidward wishes he never met Spongebob and Patrick, which leads to them still being eaten but getting to know eachother. Honestly, at the time this episode was really amazing, and its also why a shorter episode, being Gary takes a bath, is right next to it. I still like the placement, just thought you'd like to know why Patchy the Pirate made an appearence.
It’s taken me a few weeks to finish this video but major congrats for making it! Absolutely fantastic script and editing as well as watching ALL the content, I can’t imagine how long this project took but you should be so proud!

"Procrastination" is one of my most favorite episodes because it is so accurate with how procrastinating while doing an assignment looks like. This episode always comes to mind whenever I worked on a paper to the point I once labeled a file "The...BREAK TIME", and turned it in without changing the name. You become so concerned about not getting it done, everyone else is having fun without you, then you waste time, then you panic, and then suddenly a burst of ideas comes flooding in. And yes, I've had teachers cancel assignments after I did them, and got frustrated that I stressed for no reason.

man, i loved you talking about the episode “band geeks”. that’s my family’s favourite episodes. my mom personally has a soft spot for “goo goo gas”, but “band geeks”, especially for my sister and cousin who are band kids since middle school, was always a favourite. i love it. i’m still waiting for “sweet victory” to play at the super bowl. it would be the only time i would watch the super bowl. i’m waiting for a bandmaster’s performance by either my sister and cousin or another school so i can record it and live out my spongebob fantasy of being able to witness it being performed live.
I’m happy to see you place Truth or Square so high, as I’ve always considered it one of the most underrated episodes in the series. I really enjoy all the meta stuff in Patchy’s sections, such as the supposed “beta SpongeBob” sections where we can see how it would’ve looked either in the old days or if the show starred the other characters.

I've noticed two themes in the later seasons. The first is making early series references recurring bits. Bubble Bass, Mrs. Puff x Mr. Krabs, etc. The second is oddall pairings. Pearl and Plankton, Patrick and Bubble Bass, Sandy and Krabs, etc. They're interesting ideas, but not all of them make a lot of sense.
I think the thing about SpongeBob being able to drive literally anything except a normal car (boat) is the new running gag starting after the classic 3 seasons
I know you probably won't see this, but the reason Neptune goes to the Krusty Krab is because Spongebob's cooking impressed him so much in season 1 that he "tried it again" so it stands to reason it might be one of his favorite eateries

It's implied she's a scientist in the first 3 seasons, but it doesn't become a major part of her character until the 4th season
It was a more subtle thing about her character, not the main purpose of it. You can tell she likes science but its not the defining trait about her.
Those first 3 season really are such masterpieces. Even the lowest ranked episodes in them are bangers.

Krabs went from being the best character in the show into a one trait joke character. He used to teach SpongeBob lessons, genuinely respect him, and feel some amounts of guilt all to just becoming "Hi, I like money"

I love how in the one with the “krusty Krab pizza” at the end when the guy makes SpongeBob cry, squidward forcefully gives it to him ( throws it in his face” it really shows that even though squidward always shows his hatred towards SpongeBob, the deep down he really does care about him, and in another episode when he thinks that SpongeBob will die, he vows to give him the best final day of life, and at the time that SpongeBob was supposed to die, he even tears up in sadness. So even tho it doesn’t seem like it, squidward really does care for SpongeBob and doesn’t want him to actually die.

While I admit Band Geeks is probably the best quality Spongebob episode over all the seasons, my personal favorite will always be Krusty Krab Training Video. It’s probably got the most quotes out of any episode, I mean sometimes I would just quote the entire episode in my head over the last 20 years.

I'm glad you mentioned how good season 4 was. I always hear people saying spongebob hasn't been good since season 3/the movie but I think they forget that season 4 had some bangers

It contains the Good Neighbors episod, one of the worst episodes ever
TBH, I actually find season 4 better than season 1 actually. Because there's more enjoyable episodes in Season 4 like, Krusty towers, fear of a Krabby patty, Krabs vs plankton, etc. Season 1 is still a excellent season tho.
spongebob STILL has some bangers, but since they have already done so much they are running out of ideas so they throw out some filler episodes where flanderization takes over the characters, and then after awhile they finally let out a banger episode once again, and then it's back to filler, cause they are running out of ideas but they want to stay on track so they just throw out anything while they come up with the actual good ideas, like dirty bubble returns is a fairly new episode and it was decent, but then there is another new episode of which i forgot the name of where patrick gets a job at goofy goober's and only has the character trait of "glutton" and that's it

Their are so many good episodes on their especially skill crane and Krusty Towers which are still bangers to this day.
after season 3 the show kinda just goes down hill, with pretty much every season getting noticeably worse, this is why most consider up to the movie to be the best spongebob has to offer.
I think plenty of episodes post season 3 are great, but by comparison, no season past season 3 can even compared to the original 3 seasons

Wish I could do one on Dexter’s Laboratory or Problem Solverz(yes really, it’s not that bad), since I love both of those shows, and could talk about them for hours.
I always loved patchy episodes. To me patchy was a way for the watcher to feel among the quirky characters, he made everything seem like it was within our grasp. Like when he wrote to SpongeBob and never got a response but it was because the ink smeared when SpongeBob got it and he couldn't read it, it made SpongeBob feel more real and gave the show more character, it even gave the viewers a say on what happened in the episodes. I love the video, Patchy gets my respect, my man's, even now in my 20s he makes me happy as he brings back memories from the good old days!
I think the reason new Spongebob isn't good is due to Steven Hillenburg not being around. His work on the first 3 seasons and the first Movie gave it a unique and fun charm. Nowadays it's just "Plankton fails" "Squidward gets harassed" "Mr. Krabs being a jerk" "Everyone is dumb" and "Boating School" Back then, we would have Character Development. And TONS of funny jokes and banger songs.
Well Hillenberg came back for the Second movie and afterwards returning to the show as a story supervisor. He rejoined halfway in Season 9 and remained until his passing, which occurred during Season 12’s production (though how much of the season had been done before his death I can’t say).

The scene where Sandy says she's going to kick Spongebob's butt was always my favorite joke of The Great Snail Race, she says it because Spongebob calls Gary a lady to "humiliate and demean" him. As a lady, that made her mad - but she wasn't there so she didn't know why.
If Nathaniel saw that someone already did this, I can feel the pure pain there must've been to see that all the hours were basically gonna amount to people calling you a copycat. Massive respect for investing so much time into this for our entertainment (and money of course)

This video really helped me figure out EXACTLY when I stopped watching this show. I recognized every episode from seasons 1-8, then I knew maybe five in season 9, but after that I knew none of them. I kinda wanna watch all the stuff I missed now

Don't listen to the people above me. They are most likely under the assumption that SpongeBob's writing went the same direction that Family Guy, Fairly OddParents and The Simpsons did. I was under that impression myself until a few days ago.
According to the SpongeBob Reddit community, it seems generally agreed upon that the show's quality is more like a reverse bell curve than a steady decline.
Season 1-3: Golden Age
Season 4-5: Rusting Age
Season 6-9A: Dark Age
Season 9B-14: Recovering Age
Seasons 6-9 are generally agreed upon as being the worst. The second half of season 9 is when the quality began to increase, partially because the second movie came out, and I guess they felt like they had to try harder because there was new attention on the series, but also because its been well discussed what the makings of a good SpongeBob episode are on the internet, and the showrunners have looked into what people have said because its their job to make the show.
There's still some stinkers, but on average, the newer seasons are actually quite consistently enjoyable. Don't believe me? Try these ones!

In Club Spongebob, Squidward again references how long the episodes are by saying, 'Why must every 11 minutes of my life, be filled with misery, Why?!'
One thing I miss from the early seasons is how the Krusty Krab was originally a bit of a dive. Krabs was always looking for new gimmicks or what have you to drum up business. Sure, that still happens, but it feels unfounded when the Krusty Krab is regularly the most popular place in town.
Shanghaied is a bit mre complex than you think actually. Yes, now the Patchy scenes make absolutely no sense and could be taken off, but at the time, this was the spongebob episode viewers could call in or go online to vote who's ending would be won. There were three different endings, and obviously spongebob won. The other two are pretty funny, Patrick wishes for gum and everyone has minty fresh breath in the Dutchmans stomach, while Squidward wishes he never met Spongebob and Patrick, which leads to them still being eaten but getting to know eachother. Honestly, at the time this episode was really amazing, and its also why a shorter episode, being Gary takes a bath, is right next to it. I still like the placement, just thought you'd like to know why Patchy the Pirate made an appearence.
It’s taken me a few weeks to finish this video but major congrats for making it! Absolutely fantastic script and editing as well as watching ALL the content, I can’t imagine how long this project took but you should be so proud!

"Procrastination" is one of my most favorite episodes because it is so accurate with how procrastinating while doing an assignment looks like. This episode always comes to mind whenever I worked on a paper to the point I once labeled a file "The...BREAK TIME", and turned it in without changing the name. You become so concerned about not getting it done, everyone else is having fun without you, then you waste time, then you panic, and then suddenly a burst of ideas comes flooding in. And yes, I've had teachers cancel assignments after I did them, and got frustrated that I stressed for no reason.
Can’t believe I finally made it though to the end of the video. I had to break it up and watch a little bit at a time, but it’s finally done. Good job Nathaniel. You’ve definitely got a lot of patience to be able to put together such a lengthy video like this. Props to you.

man, i loved you talking about the episode “band geeks”. that’s my family’s favourite episodes. my mom personally has a soft spot for “goo goo gas”, but “band geeks”, especially for my sister and cousin who are band kids since middle school, was always a favourite. i love it. i’m still waiting for “sweet victory” to play at the super bowl. it would be the only time i would watch the super bowl. i’m waiting for a bandmaster’s performance by either my sister and cousin or another school so i can record it and live out my spongebob fantasy of being able to witness it being performed live.
I’m happy to see you place Truth or Square so high, as I’ve always considered it one of the most underrated episodes in the series. I really enjoy all the meta stuff in Patchy’s sections, such as the supposed “beta SpongeBob” sections where we can see how it would’ve looked either in the old days or if the show starred the other characters.

I've noticed two themes in the later seasons. The first is making early series references recurring bits. Bubble Bass, Mrs. Puff x Mr. Krabs, etc. The second is oddall pairings. Pearl and Plankton, Patrick and Bubble Bass, Sandy and Krabs, etc. They're interesting ideas, but not all of them make a lot of sense.
I think the thing about SpongeBob being able to drive literally anything except a normal car (boat) is the new running gag starting after the classic 3 seasons
I know you probably won't see this, but the reason Neptune goes to the Krusty Krab is because Spongebob's cooking impressed him so much in season 1 that he "tried it again" so it stands to reason it might be one of his favorite eateries
The fact that the worst episodes of seasons 1-3 are still a blast tells a lot about their quality
The crazy thing is that even the bad episodes have their famous memes
