There are so many configurations of SAE bellhousing sizes and starter fitments and locations it gets confusing , anything that was used as industrial engines back then the companies that sold the equipment wanted people to have to go back to them for the parts . I love seeing these old engines brought back to life .
When i was playing with early Hemis years ago, I tried to find the SAE specs for bell housings because every one kept saying " get such and such SAE bell housing so you can bolt a manual blah blah" Damned hard to find that info without paying a subscription to the SAE for access to their library. .

Nice to have spare parts! Would've been a bad day without that other bell housing! Cleaning parts is probably the worst part of building old iron especially to pressure wash with snow on the ground!
Talk on, pick on and sing on. It's all good to me. Very interesting and entertaining. That big old V12 will make any Ratrod a winner, but it's gonna need a long nose and open engine bay. I wonder what a couple turbos would add,and maybe fuel injection. But that's really gonna depend on the vehicle you choose.

Waylon - these things are cool as hell - but in stock configuration the torque peak is (no exaggeration ) about 1200 rpm. They had pneumatic governors that limited them to about 2800-3000 rpm. A couple outfits have fitted the big valve heads and stuff to them. There's a video of one free-running and they proudly wind it up to all of 5 Grand. If it was me I would enhance the high rpm with a crank-driven centrifugal blower and use an aftercooler on it's air output. Then I'd bite the bullet and figure out how to get throttle-body computerized fuel injection to work right on the thing (blow-through carbs are for either real low boost or for drag racing only). To my way of thinking that would be preferable to changing a whole bunch of heads, cams and manifolds - "keep it more original" that way but also not "Me too" the thing. The injection could be made to cut it off at 5,000 rpm as well.
no computerized stuff for this baby.. I know its maxed at about 2400 rpms..thats where it makes 630 ft lbs of torque.. thats why I'm putting lots of gears behind it.. I have a 10 speed and a 2 speed rear end AND a 2 speed OR a 4 speed brownie box if I need it.. I'm not building anything to go flying down the freeway at 80 mph.. @@1963impala2drWaylonWire I just remembered something - that IMPCO "CA Series" propane mixers (carbs) are about the only non-electronic things that could ever keep the mixture constant regardless of how much boost was put on their inlet. I don't like them because they don't respond right away when the foot throttle (or governor control) is slapped open - there is a big diaphragm that shuffles up and down and slides an air metering valve more open or more closed depending on the vacuum/pressures on both sides of it. I have never seen a natural gas fueled 702 - but from pictures I think the mixers on them might be those IMPCOs. If you ever get tired of the super low torque peak (deliberately built into) of the 702 then probably a belt-driven centrifugal blower and a couple of those mixers - along with changing the deliberately restrictive iron exhaust manifolds - would be the easiest way to raise it. look up the url on the way back machine at archive.org, it's still there
wayback told me it was gone.. it is showing for some people and not for others.. depending on the server andl browser I guess.. whats weird is it shows on one of my computers and NOT on two others.. same server and same OS. and same browser.. strange!

Has anyone ever put two 4.3 vortec V6's together to make a v12?
this is not two v6's. it is one block..
@@1963impala2drWaylonWire i know the 702 is one big block, i was just curious if anyone had tried to put two of the 4.3's together to make a v12 since its hard to find a 702
@@epicdaman3653 ah gotcha..dont know about 4.3..or why anyone would haha.. I have 4 of the big 60s v6's.. most of mine are the 305 but I have one 351 if I couple to those together I would have the equivalent of a 702. I was going to do that that's the reason I got the V6 is because I never thought I would own one of these V12s. I know it could be done I've seen lots of V8 couple together end-to-end... but nothing like the real thing man! Thank you for watching..
For that old GMC Website you can go to www.wayback.com/ and then it will pull the save archives of the page. If there is anything there, be sure to copy paste and save all the information you can get.
here's what wayback had to say about it
"The Wayback Machine has not archived that URL."
Dang.... That sucks.....
Umm, did C.W. McCall have a hand in this video? (and the Starter weighed 60 pounds)? Oh, no... that was "and the Title weighed 60 pounds"... I got it One Piece at a Time!

its a phenomenon, you change your oil and the tail lights quit working.. never fails.. you fix one thing and something TOTALLY unrelated will go tits up!
I want to get a V12 from a Jaguar car and put it in a rat rod. My rat rod will be like a model A, dark green with rust in the body. The rust and paint will have a sealant so it wont rust more. lol
