My Judas Priest Playlist! • Judas Priest
In this Electric Eye guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play all of this classic from Judas Priest note-for-note.
The tuning is standard tuning.
Guitarists Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing bring an absolute onslaught of killer guitar riffs and an insane guitar solo with this one!
The opening riff is an extremely fast one that uses strict downstrokes to get that punchy sound out of the notes. I know many guitarists online use alternate picking for this riff when covering it, but if you want it to sound authentic, use all downstrokes! It is well worth the extra effort.
There aren't many spots in "Electric Eye" where you can get a breather with the rhythm guitar parts. They all present some sort of a challenge.
But of course, the real beast here is Glenn Tipton's killer guitar solo. Starting out with a chromatic lick that launches into a couple of HUGE two whole-step bends, Tipton from the very beginning lets you know you are going to be taken on quite a ride.
From there he goes from a pentatonic lick that cross the entire scale form in the blink on an eye, to a very very cool lick that is a combination of a legato based blues scale lick and a diminished lick. It is by far my favorite part of the solo.
He then goes from stock blues licks to fast alternate picking and of course rapid tapping just to make sure he has all the bases covered. Truly a solo that isn't for the faint of heart.
So have fun with this one guys, I certainly did! #electriceyeguitarlesson #judaspriest #guitarcovers

Great song from the metal gods 🤘
J p had so much influence on me . You can see why. Sick
@@garybutch3972 Wait....Judas Priest or John Petrucci considering the guitar? I know it's the former but I couldn't help noticing the guitar model and the emblem on the headstock
is there any tab for this song
@@huseyindogan8855 nah Carl can’t post tabs because it puts his channel in danger

Everyone goes on about Metallica downpicking but this song is really fast for early 80s
I've been practicing this song and my arm get tired from playing this songs
@@zxexrxox As much as I like the original band with Halford, the best ever version of "Hellion" and "Electric Eye" can actually be found on the Judas Priest '98 Live Meltdown album with Tim Owens on vocals (the 98 Live Meltdown version of Electric Eye really sounds like a heavier song from Metallica's Master of Puppets album or Megadeth's Peace Sells album whereas the original version of Judas Priest Electric Eye had a very light weight guitar sound and a very soft drum beat). KK Downing also played much better guitar on the 98 Live Meltdown album version. If you want another good comparison, compare Michael Schenker's guitar playing on the original studio version of "Rock Bottom" by UFO (kind of weak guitar playing) to the 1978 "Strangers In Night" live version of Rock Bottom where Michael Schenker plays this 1978 live version of the "Rock Bottom" guitar solo where the improvised Michael Schenker "Rock Bottom" guitar solo almost seems like the guitar solo goes on for 20 minutes or something like that and I never get bored listening. Okay maybe Michael Schenker's live Rock Bottom guitar solo doesn't go on for 20 minutes but this guitar solo does go on for a very long time.
Probably why richie Faulkner just played alternate picking
Glenn tipton alternates it

Imho one of the TOP 20 metal songs in general. Superb chorus, solos, intro and outro too
Damn carl seems to be pretty good at this guitar thing....
Holy shit a like from carl himself. Please do soldier of fortune by deep purple, carl. Great work as always.
Consecutive number of videos in which i have requested for soldier of fortune : 2
Thank you Carl!! Screaming For Vengeance is my favorite album of Priest
Not Nostradamus? Damn it hits me hard
Mine too
@@davidknichal6629 ehhhh it's good
Ahhh definitely a fan favorite from Judas Priest! I was wondering if you could do The Green Manolishi or Painkiller, unless you've already done those. Great work as always!
RC32 Painkiller would be AMAZING
@@jamisonc7500 I agree my man!
Jamison C definitely
@@confusedsponge4013 Painkiller lesson is out now, if you haven't checked it yet: th-cam.com/video/x3WvXDrcwqw/w-d-xo.html
Brother can you consider doing Freewheel or The Sentinel? Thanks for the lessons.
@Nick Pruiksma and some heads are gonna roll.
@@metalhead7319 can't forget about jawbreaker, rock hard ride free, eat me alive and... and... It's a good album :D
@@mikkeljrgensen3850 oh yeah! 🤘every song is awesome
heavy metal 4ever :D 🤘
@@mikkeljrgensen3850 jawbreaker was written about sucking a big cock, I'd rather not hear that one, I'm damaged enough from thinking it was about fighting some rival or oppressive regime only to find out otherwise, but yes freewheel or sentinel for sure.
dude that tone is insane! great video. very helpful thanks
Such a HUGE riff!!!!
These past Guitar lessons have been amazing! Thanks for all the Videos Carl :)
This riff is amazing. Also leads into so many riffafarian variations that can be made
So much waited for this!!! Thank you so much sir !!!!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻♥️♥️♥️
Carl you are awesome..Very easy and helpful to learn songs from you..I really appreciate the time and effort you put into all your tutorials... Rock on !!!!!!
I place Glenn Tipton and K. K. Downing as the BEST Metal duo of all time. Why? Because each one of them, in their own right is an exceptional composer and player. I would challenge anyone to find any other guitarists to match them. If you disagree - perhaps you've never really paid attention. Glenn and K. K.'s ability to finesse the most "simple" riffs into the realm of magic - and their leads . . . Judas Priest guitar solos approach the level of mythology.
Got that rite!!!
Dave Murray and Adrian Smith ain’t joking either bro. KK is the weakest of the two. Dave and Adrian are better players than KK. Glen is a MONSTER!!!
If you watch Glenn Tipton play this, when he hits the power chord on the 7th fret, he DOES NOT SLIDE DOWN TO THE FIFTH!!! He just lifts his ring finger off of the 9th fret off of the 4th string
Yessssss thank you so much ! Please do painkiller
Finally!!!! I've been waiting for so long to learn this song
Hey Carl. Man I love your lesson version of this song. So easy to follow (not necessarily easy to play) and that solo was explained so thoroughly. You are the best!
Glenn, and K.K. are crazy underated
15:10 the solo
You're the best Carl!
Who could possibly dislike this.
Awesome lesson! Thank you!
Best metal song
Great song, man! I saw them perform this live in Detroit on their Defenders of the Faith tour. Great video!
Great band, for sure!
Awesome! Thanks bro
Thank you !
Really good lessons, man! These are the best ones on TH-cam imo.
Always enjoy your lessons Killer tone on this Vid..
Can you do a tutorial on Beyond the realms of death or Angel by Judas priest ? There aren't many tutorial videos out there about these songs. Keep up the great job !
"Beyond the Realms of Death" is the greatest Metal ballad of all time. Tell me I'm wrong.
That is a bonkers solo. Great job.
Excellent!!! Great video
Thank you Carl
Hey Carl I’ve been watching your lessons for multiple months and I just want to say thank you for helping me get to the level I’m currently at. Also, can do you a lesson on If You Want Blood(You’ve Got It) by AC/DC? The riff is tricky because no one really knows how to play it like Malcolm and There aren’t any good lessons on the solo on youtube.
Awesome.. thankyou
Thanks for the lessons, Carl. I've been fumbling around on my guitar playing, but lately I've been really getting at it. My playing, my sound and chord changes have been improving a lot. I'm feeling confident in learning this Priest favorite.
Quite the solo
Very well played !
Outstanding Carl.
Carl should more subs than every TH-cam channel combined
No need to be that popular but definitely deserves more recognition. Carl is one of the most accurate guitar teachers on youtube
This wrif kicks ass! Gotta learn it soon
this song is so fun to play ty Carl of this
you are a legend
awesome lesson... thank you!

You are a f#king amazing guitar player man,,them solos ,,bravo!
thank you!!!!
Thank you soooooooooo much for this!!!!
Awesome. Another great one!
Awesome stuff!
Love this tune
*Right On!*
It’s so weird, was listening to electric eye a few days ago, thought it would be a fun song to learn, decided to go look up a tutorial. “ there’s noway Carl has this one, it’s too obscure” literally posted it that same day.
So this hotline to the devil you've got going; how does one acquire such a diabolical telephone?
Thank you so much for this amazing lesson!
Every song that I want to learn how to play you have a lesson on. So awesome! Thank you! Priceless stuff 👌
Was only thinking today i wonder will Carl ever do electric eye.....cheers!!!
Excellent video. Wore out that record and cassette in high school.
the entire Firepower album is fantastic! Any and all would be greatly appreciated!!!!
This album is worthy of all Accolades
What a riff!
Awesome lesson, very informative. Thanks!
I revisited this lesson again today, what a gift to guitar players! I am still hoping for a lesson on the song “Bloodstone” from the same album! Thanks again Carl, cheers!
Can you do beyond the realms of death
Carl , can you do guitar lesson on "Jump in the fire" by metallica? thanks for the great content
Nicely Done Carl. One of my all time favs. Appreciate it. I ain't ready for the solo but I think I can get the riffing down pretty much.
Amazing video lesson of my favorite Judas Priest song! I've got a few suggestions for more Priest songs if you'd be up for it: Leather Rebel, Nightcrawler, Freewheel Burning, and The Sentinel. Oh also, Some Heads Are Gonna Roll. Any of those would be cool.
Thank you. You good teacher
in Argentina the crowd "ooohhoohoo" to the riff and "aah ahh ahah" to rhythm. Best crowd for rock. It comes from the football culture there.
Thx so much for all ur help young man. You Sir Rock!!!
ABOUT TIME YOU DO THIS LESSON
Great teacher 🤘 keep it up man
Great lesson, really enjoyed it but the solo is kicking my ass. Please do Flirting With Disaster next
Great lesson!
Great lesson... My only criticism - and you're not alone - In the beginning E riff where it has that slide - it doesn't touch a B, it's a Bb to an A, then a G back to the E.
Thanks brother.your in dept.im a slow learner.lol.but your a great teach.im halfway thru this lesson.just wanted tell you thanks man.i follow you a lot on your vids.you taught me alot.thanks.
Oh I see what you did..I see it!.. I asked for You've got another thing comin' and you tease me with this gem. Well played Carl, well played.
yes! expect to see me cover this soon!
Hi Carl, could you do Doctor Doctor by UFO someday?
Love your stuff.
Why can't we have Carl play the live version of the UFO song "Rock Bottom" from the 1978 "Strangers In the Night" live album with Michael Schenker on lead guitar?
Easily my second favorite lesson by Carl Brown! I’m still hoping you might consider doing a lesson on “Bloodstone” from the same album. Thanks again for this one! 🤘
Juicy!
Excellent!!! Please do more JP!!
You are a BEAST!!!
Excellent! More Priest please! How about Freewheel Burning or The Sentinel? Both those song easily rival Electric Eye for intensity and difficulty.
Could you please do a rhythm guitar tutorial including the solo rhythm parts for the Judas Priest tune Dragonaut? Thanks.
*OMFG* Thank you Carl! Yesss! Do The Sentinel or Painkiller next!
Oooh yes! More Priest!
good video thankyou
So The Sentinel's next?
Hey, it'd be really great if you did a "You Really Got Me" guitar lesson by Van Halen!!
By the kinks
Very good! Thank you!
A tutorial on Brighton rock by Queen next???
love it thanks
Thank you so much :)
Nice Job! Maybe next song a request from the Judas Priest Album, Stained Class, "White heat, Red hot"
More priest!!!
I don't have the speed or reflexes (age 48 beginner, started at 46), to do the notes in between with the intro riff. Like going back to the E after every note hit.
But you can get away with just one hit and then play the melody part, hitting each bass note change just once, it's so fast, you don't even notice.
Yo Carl, what kinda rig are you running? This is a very very cool and interesting set up
Turbo lover please please, especially guitar solo
Do you think you can do a full song lesson for GNR "Sorry". Thanks again Carl, you kick serious ass.
Hey Carl love the vid !!! Hey I’m looking at the actual published tablature , it looks like you merged the guitar 1 and 2 part for the verse , but dang you made it not only sound good but look good 🤣
Wow
You rock , like others have said ,could you do painkiller if possible please
PLEASE PLEASE do nightcrawler!
