You just brought back a sweet memory for me, my grandma teaching me to play "Hot Cross Buns" on her piano ❤ I never knew what they were until watching this video. Once my starter is ready and I can make my first successful sourdough loaf, I think I'm going to try to make these in her memory. My grandma would be tickled to have received these.
Love all your recipes and use them all the time, but as a Brit I've got to say that is a mega amount of spices. We'd use about 2 teaspoons in that mix 😊 I've never seen a HCB dough that colour. Still, if you like it strong, I bet it's great. It's a big tradition over here to have them for breakfast on Good Friday, which is a bank holiday here, so most people are off work.
I got kind of lazy…I made a giant hot cross bun…I just added cinnamon, sugar, and raisins to the regular sourdough recipe…I let it bulk raise for 8 hours…have to say it turned out really well.
Oh my, they look so good! 😃 I havent made this, but I often make sourdough raisin buns and I use the lamination method to put all my raisins in in one shot.... a little easier I think..... But so tempted to try these!
In the UK we include mixed peel. When I was on holiday in California I was surprised that none of the supermarkets I was taken to had ever heard of it.
Hi Grant, I have been watching your videos. I made 1 of your Sourdough recipes. I made it this morning, turned out beautifully. I do have a question for you. Can you make a video of yeast bread rolls kinda like Texas Roadhouse Rolls. I found several on TH-cam and made them but just didn't have that yeasty taste that I remembered. Please keep making your bread making videos, you explain things so much better, you make it look easy. God bless. Lower Alabama

Thanks for the input! Maybe I went a little overboard? 😊 haha. I can sure adjust the spice amount in the future.

Go for it!
Thank you so much, so easy and yummy.

Yes, I would add that in when folding in the raisins if I had it. It is a great way to use citrus, it’s just hard to find here and I didn’t make any 😊
Grant, I appreciate you!
Thanks!!

Thanks! I'll look into it. I remember those rolls well, even though I haven't had them in a while. It was the cinnamon butter that did it for me :)
Hi, did you miss type the ingredient...'egg' in your recipe ?
I fixed it! Thanks for letting me know.
You forgot to list butter as an ingredient
