- Slasher movies were in a rough spot by the time the mid 90s rolled around. But Wes Craven's Scream was the movie that successfully revitalized the genre, with its well-done self-aware approach to a horror movie. In this video I talk about how Scream's self-awareness, realistic characters, and subversion of expectations allow it to be the movie that saved slasher movies. I hope you enjoy this video, and let me know what you think about Scream in the comments!

also when randy is yelling "Behind you Jamie!" its like hes telling himself theres someone behind him cause the actors name is jamie
Oh wow good point! I didn’t realize that
I think he even said once on either his TH-cam channel or interviews that was the inside joke, anyone that knew him or rewatched will yell that at him not his character
That opening scene is just amazing. A masterclass in suspense! I love Scream.
My favorite horror movie of all time.
Such a great way to open up a movie. It’s definitely one of my favorite horror movies
@@trayclancy Definitely! It’s the very first horror movie that I ever saw as a kid.
Killing Drew Barrymore was actually her own idea
These vids are awesome. Sad because I have officially binged them all in one day. They are really professional for what seems like a smaller channel. What a pleasure
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed

Facts
can´t stop watching this channel. It´s so good 😭😭
😂😂 thank you!
Lots of horror fans seem to dismiss Scream but I don't get it. It's one of the greatest love letters to the genre, specifically slasher films. Top 10 for me probably.
Just found this channel, subscribed after watching a few vids, can't believe you ain't more popular! Anyway, growing up in 90's me and my friends loved horror movies and we watched the Halloween movies to death along with Nightmare, Friday 13th etc. I was in 5th grade when this came out and it blew my mind, the opening scene is a classic up there with "When a Stranger Calls" The horror genre needed something fresh, and Scream delivered and then some. What makes it so great is the "characters", every single one is interesting and relatable which allows the viewer to actually care about what happens to them.
Thank you so much! I’m glad you’re enjoying 🤝
I fell in love with this movie the first time I saw it, and my admiration, fascination, and obsession with this series still grows all the time. Nev Campbell as Sidney will forever be my favourite final girl 👻
Made me want to watch it. Great vid TC!

Solid breakdown
Thanks!
Subbed, great analysis man! 💯🙌😃
Can you please make a video on the rest of the scream series, especially with 6 coming out on March 10th, I'd love to hear your thoughts on how the series evolves over time, and how it continued to show us different elements of the horror genre. 😱👻
Thank you! I really appreciate this 🙏🏾 I think at some point I’d I’d like to do a video on the whole franchise, but I think I’ll wait to see if this vid performs a little better. That’s definitely something I’ll think about doing sometime this year though!
Keep the good work up
Thank you! 🙏
He ain’t have to come out Ona phone wit bars like tht😂😂😂

I love "When a Stanger calls" and you see that trope all throughout the movie

Thank you brother! I got you 🫡
Can you make a video about misery?
Its my favorite horror movie, and is a delightful story
One of my favourites 👻
A classic!
At the beginning of this video, I was wondering how in the world did the Scream Franchise save the horror genre, and now I know lol
Ive seen all 6 of these movies at least 10 times each
I like how this is 8 mins not 27:38
You gotta do the final destination series
Apparently, Scream ripped of the metanarrative and awareness from the less known "There's Nothing Out There" (1991). You should check it out.
Interesting, I definitely will!
Easily one of the best horror movies of all time regardless of the era based solely on the fact that the parents finding Drew Barrymore hanging from the tree at the beginning sticks with you forever
Drew Barrymore fooled us all to think she was gonna be in the movie for more than 10 mins. i love this movie
Absolutely love this movie, hot take but I think Scream 4 is better than the original. It was so ahead of its time and has such a good killer reveal, along with being a lot scarier. It’s still a close call tho, the original is ofc a classic for a reason
Damn I gotta watch it now I’ve only seen the first two and the most recent one
tea
Love, you bye... 🌬️💙💙💙
❤️
I’m not a fan of slasher horror usually but 9/10 times it’s just a random mental dude slashing people with no scares and that’s what scream does I appreciate making it seem predictable and actually having smart characters but it’s not my style 4/10 ngl
I got my first beej during this movie. Cool story huh?
Yo 😭😭😭
