It Follows and The Unbeatable Love Demon

- So I decided to watch It Follows again to remind myself just how creative this movie is. I specifically wanted to focus on the monster in the movie, and how I think it pretty much symbolizes death due to its inevitability. I think the uniqueness of this movie's monster is what helps to make the movie so unsettling. It has one big weakness, but a ton of strengths that I think make it impossible to beat. But I definitely think this movie is gonna end up being an indie classic. What do you think about It Follows? Hope you enjoy this review!

I really like this movie, the concept of something that is easily avoidable but always there sends chills down my spine
The immortal snail be like:
One of the best horror movies of the 2010s, absolutely love it - the idea of a entity that's easy to outrun yet impossible to hide or escape from is so terrifying by concept alone. No shock values or jumpscares - just pure terror.
This movie is the best STD PSA known to man
Not really bc it encourages people to have as much sex as possible by passing it on to other people.
@@mnmmcg3543 oh I thought of it as people not having sex to not spread the demon 😭
Since sex =death
You don’t wanna die, NO SEX
@@Tootz3374 I see
Ah, yes, the Sexually Transmitted Demon!
2nd best way to convince a teen about the benefits of Abstinence, first is just showing men how they test for The Clap
They really made a movie based off the unkillable snail oh my gaur
😭😭😭
You heart and reply to comments for videos from two years ago 😭😭😭😭 please upload more sir I am a certified fan ❤️
😂😂
Tray really has me out here saying phrases like"menace activities" and "expeditiously" 😭🤣
😂😂😂 love to see it
It's so disturbing to think that even if you pass the curse on, if they die, the monster will come back for you...
I like how its hard to know what time period this is set in. On one hand they have ebooks, but the fashion, cars, cinema feel like 70s/80s. It helps make the movie feel like an unsettling nightmare.
I remember wondering what time period it was supposed to be set in when I first watched it
nah this movie is tight as fuck, the first time i saw that dirk nowitzki sized mf charging down the hallway i damn near shit my pants
Lmaooo couldn’t agree more
straight up binged the whole channel lol keep making vids please
Thank you! Will do 🤝
Reading this while binging, we need more content!
I am personally terrified of this movie because I have a really big fear of being followed, and the whole concept of this movie is exactly that, so you can imagine that this flick made my anxiety go through the roof 😭😭
Oh I’m sure 😭
Bro has schizophrenia
Saw this in the theater and instantly fell in love with it. Great direction, stellar acting, and that soundtrack. It does something very few American horror films do which is that it truly immerses you into its world. It's almost Japanese in that quality like a Kiyoshi Kurosawa movie. Now I need to go watch it again lol.
Completely agree! And I think they’re making a sequel
Definitely agree! Love the soundtrack! ^^
Fweebs
Bro I KNOW your channel is gonna blow up
Thanks bro! This is much appreciated 🙏🏾
Great combination between funny and thoughtful, cant wait to see more content in the future
Thank you so much! 🙏🏾
It follows was the first film in a long time that really freaked me out. There's something about it that just gets under your skin. Good stuff.
Fun fact: There is a case where a man's conjoined twin committed murder and successfully argued that he couldnt be imprisoned even though his twin was guilty.
Insane that actually happened lol
But didn't that man let his twin commit murder? That's still a crime due to witnessing and not reporting it.
Source?
@@726Ian So, I can't find what I'm looking for and am questioning whether my memory of it being a real case is accurate. However, there seems to be more credit to it being an applicable study of retributivist theory in law school.
bro 2 minutes into the video and 2 of the songs youve had as background inserts are on my playlist, good shit bro. Flowers by the deli is a banger
Good taste 🤝
Entertaining movie. I still will have to look up theories on what is actually going on.
Disasterpeace really knocked it out of the park with the music, he added a whole new dimension of storytelling!
Agreed!
I've been a fan of chiptune for over 15 years, and Rich Vreeland, aka 'Disasterpeace', the composer of the score of "It Follows", is genuinely the reason this film is a cult classic. I know that may be hyperbolic, but I cannot deny the genuine terror I feel when I hear "Heels"; It's fucking terrifying. The subtle, itching static that starts to peel away at your skin, as the inescapable fear you feel while each dissonant, STABBING note drives itself deeper into your psyche, like the incessant knocking at a door that isn't mean to be opened; a fear that PROVOKES you to move, while your eyes pinhole and freeze, unblinking. Absurd score and incredible film making.
Agreed!!
Love the soundtrack and general horror theme to this movie! Something that I think is underrated about It Follows is how it has quiet brooding moments in it between the monster attacks, and kinda gives somewhat dreamy vibes! It also kinda makes Detroit look Silent Hill-like, with a lot of dark and dreary yet oddly peaceful atmosphere (at least to me, especially the scene when the friends are in a car on the way to the pool to kill the monster).
Completely agree
My favorite horror movie. The dream like retro vibe connects you with memories of childhood. Creepy beautiful nostalgic nightmare.
Good channel, the sequel They Follow is in the works now. Only the girl is confirmed to be in it. My guess for the plot is the boyfriend at the end died and she just goes off the deep end and starts sleeping with everybody to avoid it forever and somehow that means It becomes They because she did it so many times. I'm happy they're bringing it back with her.
Thank you! And yes I’m very excited
Immortal Snail: The Movie
The creepy atmosphere of the film really makes it.
Tbh I didn't really care for the movie the first time I watched it. I was with a bunch of friends, thought it was fun but it didn't surprise. Some time later I read a post of a friend about how horror many times is written to explore the fear of the unknown, things we can't understand nor control. It used as examples The Ring/Ringu with Samara's tape when vhs was still a new technology; Carrie with puberty, the changes in her body bringing new powers that she couldn't control; Jaws with nature; and It Follows as the AIDS crisis. It made me see the movie with completely different eyes, specially considering there are people who purposefuly spread the disease as a form of fetish.
Interesting concept
It Follows is my favorite horror movie since Event Horizon.
It's the Halloween of the 21st century. Pure brilliance
This movie had the most kickass 80's synth themesong
Make “expeditiously” merch 🙏🙏😂
😂😂
I got confused right on the first word then after about 0.000000001 seconds i realised
DOMAIN EXPA-
Just watched the movie last night for the first time in awhile and boy did it still slap
Elite horror
ayo what a nice piece of content
Thank you! 🙏
What movie is that at 4:27 with the teleporting truck??
One of the leading theories is that the person at the end *isn’t* the monster. It’s just a random person. When the monster (impersonating Jay’s father) was killed, it symbolized Jay letting go of her trauma. The director was testing your attentiveness throughout the film.
i love this movie because the entire thing is from the pov of the kids. there are no adults that give any context to anything, so their hairbrained stupid ideas make sense as something only kids would think of. 9/10
If this was real atleast I’d know I’d be safe
Life is simple. See Tray, press play.
Real 🤝
The score on this movie is actually perfect.
Agreed
@@trayclancy I think I actually prefer the main theme of this over the SAW theme, which is hard to beat
That movie scared the f*ck out of me whe ni watched it years ago. Still remember it. The big dude was scary af
How to beat the monsters: drive from Detroit to South Korea to buy yourself a couple years before it arrives to you.
Considering it's shown to be smart at points, it can climb, and crosses distances far faster than walking would allow, I would say that it walks just to terrify you. Even if you "kill" it, it will just come back as something new.
It's an obvious allegory for STDs, but also an allegory for death. As much as you try to avoid it and as far as you can run, it will always be right behind you. Continents, seas, or doors will do nothing to stop it. Amd like the end of the movie with them just living with it, thats all you can do about death.
It will happen. You don't know when or why. You cannot avoid it.
But you can live with it and enjoy what you have left until it takes you.
All that being said, seing litteral death chace you would definitely make me go "Ah. Shit." and book it despite having long accepted my mortality.
NOICE
Sex is death!
(Also the next clip)
*LET'S GOOOOOOO!!!*
What was the clip with the teleporting truck from?
Jumper
Ah symbolic for STDs
It’s really easy to win against the sex monster. A trap, hole, concrete, safe, something really strong can contain it.
Parts of Stranger Things definitely inspired by It Follows
What if you just got on a boat and sailed back and forth from the lake? 😂
That might just work lol
There is a heavy implication that the STDemon can swim, possibly faster than it can walk.
Easy just lock em in a human hamster wheel connected to a power generator. Infinite power source.
unstoppable snail ahh movie
😭😭😭
Welp will be forever safe from it then
How to beat made a video on this a year and a half after this😂
Hate supernatural horror books/movies that don't do the world building, that the creature makes no sense, where'd it come from, how does it exist what does it want. This particular one sounds like you might draw it into a deep abandoned mine and then collapse the entrance, seal it in trapped.
This movie was ruined because they find out how it's transmitted and the main girl and pretty boy f**k in the hospital and then has the gall to be surprised when it kills pretty boy. I'm glad it implies they all die anyway at the end. They all deserved it. It's like the Grudge 3 where the main character is blubbering in a corner as everyone dies. I was watching it with my mom and was yelling at the tv. She got a kick out of her quiet son being animated and loud.
I do like how it constantly obscures the center of the screen where the monster is always at so the longer the scene is the more tense it is. And the small girl turning into a giant was absolutely brilliant.
Tony Hawk does movies now
Having ex with a ph star is the best option
i wonder if you could ✨ with the demon
I love you too bro
❤️
i really thought of it as a STD example instead of a killer sex monster 😭
'a sex demon'
I always call it the STDemon
Haha nice
7'3Tony Hawk 5:28
...sounds like marriage.
The movie would’ve been better if the monster kills you by just touching you.
i think that the movie is well done in some of the scenes but the idea that if you have sex you will die... idk it just doesn't make sense to me.
also the ending is shit i gotta say it, it wanna make it seem like it's cool and it leaves you with suspense witch, let me clarify that, if it's well done it's really cool but in this film... it just doesn't fit all the story

This is why imma virgin
