In this movie, a group of influencers go to texas to breathe new life into a town and end up getting destroyed by Leatherface. This movie is very bad. Another thing is: Sally in the original movie was terrified and was screaming in almost all scenes she was in. She survived by chance and didn't strike me as smart or badass character. Her return as Laurie Straud wannabe didn't make sense
maybe we are supposed to believe that she changed over 50 years of preparing herself to kill him?

To be fair, Laurie was the exact same way in H1 and H2. She only became non-afraid in H20 and the DGG trilogy.

Like not even 2018 had influencers, as a matter of fact the use of phones in the blumhouse trilogy is used very little

And even if he did know her name, he's a mentally disabled man with speech impediments

Sally becoming a Texas Ranger and stuff does not at ALL suit the character, Sally would be lucky to live a moderately stress free life in the middle of nowhere, let alone a life as a Texas Ranger hunting down Leatherface.
In the original canon she was left completely catatonic and transferred to a psychiatric ward where she died a few years later. But it's 2022, we need our badass female hero!

@@infynitemedia5602 there certainly isn't, when done correctly. Which is a very rare thing these days, as this movie would seem to demonstrate. I was making the point that since it's not seen as politically correct to have a female protagonist who just screams and is pretty much useless (as Sally was in the original) these days, obviously they had to give her the trappings of a badass without actually giving her character any depth or real thought. Just "stick her in a cowboy hat, give her a shotgun and write the flimsiest explanation of why she's back after all these years we can get away with". IE, modern Hollywood in a nutshell...

There are things about this movie i liked. I enjoyed this version of Leatherface, the kills are pretty cool and some of the visuals/scenes were awesome....but the characters are totally reprehensible snobs which really kills the entire experience watching a horror movie. You're supposed to be rooting for the "good guys" but from the jump i think most people will be rooting for Leatherface to saw these kids in half.

The ending of this movie BLEW MINE. They shot him with a shotgun and he still jumped out the water like Jason then later on caught up to the car and pulled her out of it while it was moving and held her head up like he flexing for the gram. Like cmon g😭

Yeah, this movie was ridiculous. A bunch of very young adults go to buy a town? To breath new life into it because they care so much about the planet? I've never heard of something like this in real life.
I don't hate gore when it's done right... But when you hate every character in the movie, and the gore is the only thing they seemed to care about when making the movie, I don't like that. Two thumbs down from me. This movie suuuuucked.

tbf in TCM III it's mentioned that she died of shock in a psych ward not long after the events of the first movie too, so I wouldn't call that this retcon movie's worst sin by a long way. Whichever canon you choose to follow, Sally's dead🤷♂

sally was the lone survivor in the first movie yes, but she only survived cos of luck and stance and she never once mentions her name in the first movie and given that leatherface isn’t all there in the head, it just doesn’t make sense that he would remember her name so i’m not sure why she acted surprised when he had no clue who she was.
aside from all that tho i genuinely think this movie is ok. it’s not good by any means but it’s not bad. honestly it’s not the worst movie in TTCM franchise.

As always, they wanted to include the "strong female character" but were too lazy to actually work such a character into the plot in any coherent or satisfying way so they just went "fuck it, let's just take a character everyone knows and make her whatever we want her to be even if it goes against all previous characterisation, plot continuity and logic". Modern Hollywood 101.
As for the movie itself, I couldn't say for sure as I haven't watched it (I was going to until A. I heard it was about Gen Z social media influencers, who are the people I always go furthest out of my way to avoid to the point that even if I got to see them being brutally murdered having to spend any amount of time watching them would still annoy me, and B. every reviewer I trust gave it a terrible review, while every reviewer I don't trust gave it a positive one). I did watch the bus massacre scene which was pretty cool, but idk, I just can't be bothered with it really. I'll definitely take your word for it that it's not the worst in the franchise. That'd be a pretty hard achievement anyway as long as Texas Chainsaw 3D still exists... Like with most franchises that have gone on way too long and have too many entries I basically just keep my own head canon going, which is basically the original as a standalone movie, TCM 2 as a separate movie in its own right, The Next Generation as a sequel to TCM 2 (since it has the same campy, dark comedy tone), and then the Platinum Dunes reboot and prequel as an alternative canon (which it is, since the Sawyers aren't even called the Sawyers in those). And as far as I'm concerned, the rest of the movies (TCM 3, TC 3D, Leatherface and this one) simply do not exist.

you’re definitely not missing out on much, it’s not a must watch movie in order to understand TTCM movies, honestly apart from hints and easter eggs to the older movies this feels like a different franchise.
i watched this movie with pretty low expectations because i’ve seen the reviews but it wasn’t the worst movie i’ve watched in the series. 3D and leatherface takes the cake on that one. especially leatherface, such a boring movie i hated it.

0:07 Actually, Texas Chainsaw 3D was another soft reboot like Halloween 2018 (I can’t remember where Leatherface fits in but I’ll look it up later and update my comment). The remake doesn’t count and The Beginning was a prequel to the remake.

I liked it, for me I thought it was a fourth one, 1, 2, 3 and then this one.
As for the Halloween series, it's 1 and 2, then III, and every Michael Myers after that is a leftover robot from the third one.
After watching so many horror films this film is part of a list I have of films that made me laugh instead of scared me meaning it felt more like a comedy then a horror

The original TCSM is one of my top 5 all-time favourite horror movies. The sequel is also a lot of fun if you take it as its own movie and not as a sequel, and the Platinum Dunes remake and prequel are seriously underrated, definitely the best of the noughties slasher remake boom. Pretty much everything else in the franchise has been garbage, but holy crap, this one apparently really takes the cake. When I heard about it I assumed it would be bad and didn't bother with it as a result, and this video makes me very glad I made that decision. Literally the only thing that tempted me was the idea of Leatherface massacring influencers, but no amount of influencer-related catharsis is worth sitting through this shitheap lol.
Me and ex watched this movie together. It was one of the highlights of our relationship. We could not stop laughing and roasting the whole movie 😭

I loved the 2022 movie - but I'm not a stickler when it comes to tradition, or sticking to 'canon', etc.
The only exception is when there is a book to tv/movie adaptation and too much is left out - but even then I can still enjoy the new version and it's just a mild annoyance.
Honestly I think the main girl from the og movie being instantly BODIED and not remembered by leatherface fits hilariously perfect in contrast to Michael myers, leatherface does NOT give a fuck about her and neither should we cause we haven’t followed her for any time
I hate this movie so much. I know alot of people in my area praised it cause the director lived here or some shit but this movie was just that bad. The party bus scene turned good when leatherface went after everyone after that dude said they were gonna cancel him. Hands down one of the worst things to be in a damn movie

Wait hold the phone that old woman 1:56 the one who dies that is the mother from a Stephen King film called "Sleepwalkers"( the movie is about A mother-and-son team of strange supernatural creatures move to a small town to seek out a young virgin to feed on.) I might have to watch it for her cause i wont watch it for anyone else. Thank you for suffering through a movie so i do not have too. I think if you have not seen Sleepwalkers you will defiantly like it better than this plus our man Stephen King makes a cameo in the film heck he makes cameo's in all his early films.

Cannot believe people like the bus scene. Out of all of the scenes, it distils the most contempt for the audience. The way everyone on the bus starts recording and talking about being ‘cancelled bro’ is shamelessly lazy and patronising.

Fede Alvarez (future director of Alien Romulus, he is a good director, but not a fan when he writes a movie, just no) wrote this movie HAHAHAHA, it literally seems to be written by a kid from tiktok who saw Halloween 2018 the day before and thought that making a copypaste of that movie with tcm would be a good idea (even scream 2022 was happening because of halloween 2018 impact, but scream 2022 was not a copypaste, it has some cool things, this tcm movie just have NOTHING, pure garbage).

This was just a Halloween wannabe really. A total disappointment. If they wanted to make a sequel, they could have made a sequel set in the 20th century and not had mob of unlikable twats for main characters. And the new "Sally Hardesty" was a total disrespect to the original actress Marilyn Burns who died in 2014.
