Evil dead is a wild series. I do not remember child-mother cannibalism meatballs being a canon thing that happens in this universe. Good old American family values taken to the next level
The main thing that scares me from Evil Dead Rise is that there's no escape, you literally go to Hell after you get killed by these things. The helplessness of the situation is what gets me. Torment in life, and torment in death. There's no break, no end. Just pain. Forever.
There is a way to win you just have to be Bruce Cambell and be built like that like as soon as you're infected you legitimately have to cut your hand or your arm wherever you were bitten off or kill yourself before you also become possessed by the deadites someone has clearly never seen Bruce Cambell vs the Army Of Darkness. Being Ash in the Evil Dead universe is like being Leon Scott Kennedy in the Resident Evil universe plot armor on 100+1. This movie just plays with the idea of the deadites essentially escaping the initial area of infection and spreading to some remote area like a cabin in the middle of the woods instead of backwards the other way around and replaces the Necronomicon with another ancient text letting us know there are multiple ways to summon the deadites into the world of the living and you have to actually subdue the deadites since you can't actually kill them and you have to read further into the book to figure out how to send them back to hell or wherever the fuck they come from. It's on some Until Dawn shit where if you kill them like the Wendigos it just frees the soul of the demon to attack and take control of the next person with the implication that it either has to be a woman, because it's always a woman don't ask me why the demon just does that or they have to be vulnerable to the demon in some way it just behaves this way and in it's incorporeal ethereal form it is more or less trapped inside an area of operation like the apartment building or the cabin in the woods or the surrounding area and can't just decide to give up on attacking and trying to possess the people in that area and leave to find and attack a more vulnerable unsuspecting group of people or individual person. The demon behaves as if it can only travel and operate within a certain distance of the book used to summon it without a human host to spread its influence via a zombie apocalypse style infection. In the original film the demon couldn't just break into the cabin at will and as long as you just did what Ash did you would survive lock and barricade the doors stay the fuck away from the windows dismember and trap all the deadites in the basement and in the event you're bitten on the hand or something you need to amputate your hand. Those are the rules the book contains the secret recipe for the sauce needed to defeat the deadites and all sorts of other outlandish and off the rails shit. Oh and stay away from glass and mirrors and all sorts of reflective surfaces the entity/demon can do all sorts of shit to you aside from create deadites like have you beefing with your own reflection just to have your own reflection reach out the mirror grab you by the neck headbutt you in the face and start whooping your ass and you guessed it your evil doppelganger is like a deadite you cannot just kill it by any normal means. It's like the closer you and it are to the book the stronger it is and the more outlandish shit it's capable of but you need the book to send it back/defeat it. If they make a sequel to this film it's going to have to follow the lines of them trying to escape to some remote cabin in the middle of the woods only to find out the deadites are already there and that they somehow have to fight their way back into the apartment building to recover the book because only the books contain the information required to defeat them in a world that is just a modern day reflection of the medieval landscape of Army Of Darkness.
I saw Evil Dead Rise in theaters and loved it! Definitely the scariest Evil Dead since the original, in my opinion. It was definitely frightening, diabolical, twisted, and psychological. Had the scare factor of Evil Dead 2013 and had subtle campiness of Evil Dead 2. Alyssa Sutherland’s dedicated performance as Ellie truly terrified me! This film is also sad because Ellie was such a loving, protective, caring mother who loved her kids. Before they knew it, she loved trying to torture them as a deadite! That’s why I think this is the darkest, most horrific Evil Dead film yet. This time children were at stake for torment, horrible ways of dying, possession, etc. I’d be scared out of my mind if one of my parents suddenly became possessed and was trying to kill me, lol
This movie was lowkey fun asf. The only thing is, the length of the movie didn’t give us enough time to sympathize with any of the characters. And honestly felt like it was rushed..
It wasn’t the length. The characters just didn’t care. None of them seemed nearly as frightened as they should have been. What’s the point of all the gore and terror if the characters aren’t even reacting to it? The movie was the worst of the series IMO.

Most likely a trauma response, it’s common for people to shut down emotionally when going through something traumatic. Either that or it was overlooked by the director and writer, which I’m not sure of considering they seemed to do a pretty good job on the movie. But it also wouldn’t make sense for the whole family to shut down bc i feel like at least one of them would be going ape shit under the circumstances, especially the young kid. But who knows, maybe they just didn’t want to push the child actor too hard so they decided to keep it tame emotionally wise.

The more brutal bloody and gorse a horror film is the better i like it. The hostel film series/ Saw Series/ Hell Raiser series . I have more than likely been listening to horror movies since womb and this explains why i adore horror films so much. This is another fantastic video keep them coming darlin.

I love this movie so much probably my favorite horror I watched this year. It's a fun reprieve from the more serious and dark horror we get these days. It's terrifying but boy is it creative and a good time. Even when I was scared I was laughing.
Me and my fam jus opened this film watched the begining and was like “bro this is pure shit” so we opened the movie smile which is idk tbh was pretty scary tho
This movie had all the brutality that a fan of the series would expect and the way this franchise steps on the gas early on and keeps accelerating is there, but I didn’t enjoy it otherwise. None of the characters seemed to care that this was happening to them. The aunt and the youngest completely brushed off the two elder children being possessed, assaulting them, and maiming themselves. There was hardly any indication that the characters were feeling any sense of panic or dread. It just didn’t deliver on making it shocking because the characters didn’t care and the writers didn’t care about the script beyond ensuring that a political narrative was front and center in a horror film of all films. I really really didn’t like these characters.

The only thing I never understood why didn’t all of them escaped the building through the window , I mean sure they lived probably on 13th 14th floor but if they could have gathered all kinds of clothes and sh!t and made it into a a rope , I think they could’ve managed to escape (atleast few of them) but no , instead they remain in that house 😅
Just watched the visit with my dad(since it was pg-13), he said there was nothing scary in it. So I thought we could watch evil dead rise some day. But thanks to you, I didnt have to watch the movie

I appreciate whenever a horror movie can make you feel isolated in a normally extremely not isolated place (e.g. an apartment building in the middle of a metropolis rather than a cabin in the woods). Despite that, however, this might be the weakest ED film for me. If I remember correctly, the final boss flesh golem did absolutely nothing before getting shredded. At least this movie expanded the lore a bit by showing that there is more than one of those books out there.

I appreciate whenever a horror movie can make you feel isolated in a normally extremely not isolated place (e.g. an apartment building in the middle of a metropolis rather than a cabin in the woods). Despite that, however, this might be the weakest ED film for me. If I remember correctly, the final boss flesh golem did absolutely nothing before getting shredded. At least this movie expanded the lore a bit by showing that there is more than one of those books out there.
