  • In this video I show how to get the correct PIN code for a Mitsubishi thermostat. The problem is that the date code on the back is wrong and you have to get the correct date code.

I want to say thanks for posting this. I saw this video when you first posted it. Yesterday I had the same exact issue. Went right to the date code in the menu and found the correct date code. Thanks again, you definitely save me some time!

Do you know how to change the heat pump switch over temperature setting in these useless thermostats? Right now it runs my back up heat at about 25 degrees and I have a hyper heat Mitsubishi unit. I hate how useless this thermostat is but when I talked to Mitsubishi about it they said that they don’t recommend me using any other thermostat.

can anyone tell me if this thermostat can be set to go below 67 degrees

In normal residential AC applications thermostats shouldn’t be set below 67F IMO so I’m thinking that limit may not be adjustable 🤔

Nothing more frustrating than p*nk @rse electronics ... At least that touch screen seems fast responding , kinda .
Some @rsehole engineer thought I'd be brilliant to use " touch " screens on the new gens of chillers i work on , that f'in thing is slower than Windows 95 ... 1895 that is !

My toddler locked the damn thing and I’ve been trying to figure this out. Frustrated if I seriously have to take it off the wall to get a dumb ass date code

I’ve had 4 toddlers so far and that’s exactly what they do…my fourth would have also taken it off the wall for me 😅
They do come off fairly easily. I normally put some pressure on the edge of the back plate with my fingers in case the installer didn’t use drywall anchors then give a quick pull. They tend to come off easier than some other stats 👍

      @@HVACLife Haha 😆
Thanks for sharing those tips, good to know that it’s fairly easy to take it off!

Maybe if they charged us another $350 for this $20 thermostat, they could have printed the code right.

Mitsu is one of the best HVAC manufacturers by far, but yeah they fumbled this one pretty badly.
But an interesting end to the story is that I was contacted by one of their tech support guys who let me know the video sparked the release of a tech bulletin and they’ve since corrected the problem 👍

I hate this thermostat so much. Overpriced, not user friendly, and looks like it's from the 1980s. I install a $10k indoor ducted and outdoor unit and control it with this P.O.S. Mitsubishi needs to update these to be better! I got the thermostat interface and an ecobee for my downstairs unit because this sucks so much.

Please do me about wanting to slap the s*** out of it after it is installed. It is a pathetic thermostat. The user experience is miserable.
