    I LIKE THE VIDEO, IT HAS SHOWN ME A COUPLE OF ITEMS THAT I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT. BUT I HAVE REPLACED THE PULL HANDLE A COUPLE OF TIME AND I HAVE FOUND THAT IF YOU TIE A SHOE STRING ON THE END OF THE CABLE, FEED IT THROUGH AND THEN ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS UNTIE IT TIE IT BACK TO THE NEW CABLE AND FEED IT BACK THROUGH. Great video. Most fundamental problem with recliners these days is lack of lubrication. AS SOON AS you buy one immediately oil ALL the pivoting and moving parts otherwise those rivets bore and wear wider holes in adjoining parts. Friction is the worst for of recliners. Another problem is plastic bushings, rollers always seem to wear out. Not much you can do about that. And of course tighten all loose bolts and screws.

    • @the323vlog4
      @the323vlog4  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s typically not a locking mechanism for the back. It’s all about resistance. If there’s not enough weight to hold it back or there’s too much resistance, I would say there’s a spring issue. You might be able change out the spring for something with less resistance

    So what should I do if I have this exact recliner setup but as of today the recliner won't stay closed in the down position? It just hits that lever and then flips back up to the reclined position.

    • @the323vlog4
      @the323vlog4  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would check and make sure that the lever is mounted correctly. I wouldalso check and make sure that the foot rest is not hitting the arms when trying to close. If those actions don’t work, I would check with the store where you purchased it from and see if they have the ability to order a new one

    • @CollinOtten
      @CollinOtten 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@the323vlog4 Could it be the springs? It appears to me that the springs are what hold it down and keep it closed. Then when you pull the lever, it pushes it forward and the springs unspring and it flicks the footrest out.

    • @the323vlog4
      @the323vlog4  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CollinOtten I typically don’t see any issues that are related to the springs, unless it’s completely broken or missing. How long have you had a piece of furniture? Did you notice any springs broken? Are usually don’t see any option to adjust the tension on the springs either, except for maybe once or twice. If there’s a wingnut to tighten or loosen the tension, I would mess with that and see if that helps, but it’s very rare from what I have seen

      I have seen a few things affect this. One, the lever activator is not latching correctly, possibly interfering with the mechanism closing. Second, the footrest might be hitting the armrests not allowing g proper closure. third, possible spring issue, not enough tension

      I have noticed the more modern recliners are a lot more difficult to close than the older ones. I would check and see if there are any ways tk adjust the tension on the springs. Some models have that option. I would also check and see if the padding on the footrest is too bulky and rubbing the arm frames. That can cause resistance.

      Typically, I wouldn’t recommend repair of a broken mechanism. If it’s slightly bent, those can sometimes be bent back to straight, however, that weakens the unit. I personally recommend full replacement of the mechanism if something like that occurs. however, if you’re only referring to a rivet that came loose, I have seen and have replaced issues like that with just bolts, washers and nuts, and they have held up just fine. Please feel free to email me with more details if you have any further questions. our email is the323concept@yahoo.com

      Replacing a manual recliner handle is very easy. The parts probably cost less than $20 and takes about 10 minutes to do. Switching a manual recliner to a power recliner would take a lot of money and a lot of time to complete. The motor alone along with the power switch would probably run $150 and it would probably take several hours to modify the mechanism to make it work

    I need the entire trigger mechanism as other have commented on here. I tried to use the link you shared with others and it would not pull up anything. I need the lever the screw nut bushing and spring pieces that connect the pull cable to the mechanism. Thanks

    Hi. I can’t get my reclining sofa foot rest to latch or catch when putting down to close. Is there a way to adjust it to close? Thanks for reply/help.

      I would flip it over and see if you can tell what is keeping it from closing. Sometimes there is an issue with the lever activator getting in the way.

    If one of the big metal rivets (not sure what to call it) metal rivets/bolts that allows the mechanism to flex/open, extend recliner bar breaks. Can a Clevis single hole pin be used to replace it. Will it hold? Have you used this method of fixing before? Thanks.

      I have not. I bet it would hold though. You would want washers between the moving parts though. I used a grade 8 bolt once and it held up well

    How to free up a jammed open mechanism on older recliner. It won’t fold up and close, chair has sentimental value for me. Thanks

      You could attempt to remove the mechanism, break it apart and try to straighten the components. That’s usually an indicator the scissor springs are bent
